I've been seeing a lot of threads in the Non-Vegas chat section for casinos that are not in Vegas.

Do you think we should have a separate section for Non-Vegas Casinos, under the Off-Strip Casino section?

"Need" might be a slightly strong word, but we certainly could use one. I've been involved n many threads involving Harrah's New Orleans/NOLA in general, and people seem to enjoy talking about local casinos in their own area.

Plenty of casinos around the country to warrant this idea

If it comes to a vote, put me down in favor of a non-Vegas section. Not that I go anywhere else these days, but I used to go quite often to AC, NOLA, Tunica, Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, and a few islands in the Caribbean. Heck, the threads are already there, just scattered about. :D

    Good point. I'll edit.

Also, I would be curious to hear from the "No" voters as to why you think we shouldn't have a Non-Vegas Casino section.

I'd even go as far to say there should be two forums. One for East of the Mississippi river casinos, and one for West.

Lots of casinos here too. They aren't all positioned as tourist destinations but it seems like people are interested in visiting them if they are passing through the area.

I thought they could all fall under "Non-Vegas Casinos". Then, we can explore other options/ideas for differentiating between locations, if it's needed, later. At least this would keep all those discussions from getting lost in Non-Vegas Chat.

I'm still curious to hear from any of the No voters. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post publicly.

I think it is a great idea. This is our first year of starting to venture out of Vegas and going on more junkets to other locations. (LOVE Vegas, but can't beat the free flights). Only been to vegas once so far this year. Was in Black Hawk over July, Laughlin in May. Heading to Beau Rivage over labor day and Lake Charles in October. I've been spending more and more time reading non Vegas chat.

Is there sufficient traffic to warrant splitting it out? I know I talk about the SHR from time to time, but maybe splitting Vegas from Everyone Else might not be a bad idea.

I haven't done any actual measuring of traffic to those threads, but I was looking for something in Non-Vegas Chat and noticed how many non-Vegas casino threads we have. Would be good to have them somewhere they won't get lost in the shuffle.

So many people have a "home casino" that is not in Las Vegas. I think it would be a good addition. Sonya looks like you going to have a hard time getting any NO votes :)

    Hi Sonya---
CET now has an alliance with Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas with very generous front end offers for CET higher tier Total Rewards players.
Many gamblers who have never considered this property will be taking advantage.

I have been to Atlantis 14 (maybe 15) times, always comped, but have never had a deal as good as my SevenStar offer allows me.

I don't know if you want to expand in this direction, but:
This would be a very popular and active subject that could justify a section of its own, totally independent of a general Non-Vegas section.

Would be useful. I see that 4 people have voted "No" so far. Unclear to me why anybody would do that.

LOL, none of the "no" voters seem to be able to provide any reasons why.

My guess is that some people just have to be different and go against popular opinion.

While I did not vote yet, my initial reaction is NO. The forum is Vegas Message Board and I come here to discuss Vegas. It isn't a Casino or Gambling board, it is a Vegas board. I personally don't want to hit the new posts button and have to wade through posts about casinos, restaurants, shows, etc. from every city/state. I want to read about Vegas.

    Just my $.02.

I think LBTRS has a good point, but off-Vegas topics are already on VMB under "Non-Vegas Trip Reports" and "Non-Vegas Chat." Of course, that's in addition to non-Vegas threads that often sneak in on a good percentage of "normal" Vegas-related headings. It sounds like a "Non-Vegas Casino Section" would only be adding a heading for what's already there.
