What matters most to you when booking a Vegas Hotel room?

Hey..I had that room at Planet Hollywood too. I thought I was in a train station from the noise. It is the only time I have ever asked to switch rooms!

What matters to me is FREE. I can adapt to anything else.

 

i would say comped room first then i need a good veiw of the strip, for those 3am room service meals lol

 

I understand some rooms may be outdated but it has to be clean, that makes a big difference. I like high floor rooms that don't connect and far from the elevators. Depending on where I'm staying, I prefer pool view over strip view rooms.

 

we usually don't sit still at a machine long enough to get good comps, so i just like a deal that i get through email.
we've always tried to get free or cheap and have stayed at many many different hotels in Vegas. The last being Caesars.

this time, i decided (since it's a solo trip) i've decided i want to step up my game.
the only thing that is a deal breaker is staying near the elevator. i ALWAYS ask to stay at the end of the hallway.

i also read and pretty much trust the Trip Advisor reviews.

 

Free/comped for sure is number one but we have paid for the odd room just for a change in scenery.

Decor and view don't matter much but having a safe in the room does. I feel much better when I know my passport and money is locked up.

Comfort of the bed, shower pressure and having a good air conditioner are also really important.

I prefer to be close to a good restaurant with a full menu (aka not fast food or generic pub fare) that's open 24/7. I work and live non-traditional hours and my eating schedule typically has me at a 10:00pm or later dinner hour. I enjoy having the same menu variety at 3am that I would get at 7pm elsewhere.

That can prove difficult to find in regular travel, but luckily I've got it easy in Vegas!

 

First, being a big cheapo, comps will always trump paid rooms. Luckily, mlife has been generous with us, so we've had lots of wiggle room on where to stay on comps.

I have to enjoy playing where I am staying, if I'm comped, I make sure to play there almost exclusively. If a hotel has been good to us (like Aria), they win loyalty booking over others..even if another has a better RC/FP offer.

Past that:

1) Location. We fly in, and walkability is huge. If a resort is too remote/requires a cab. No.

2) HUGE for us (ok, me): a separate tub and shower, or at least solo shower (no shower curtain, I really a want glass enclosure) is a deal maker/breaker. Probably silly, but important for us.

2) floor to ceiling windows vs. smaller windows, is a huge plus. (Not as crucial as shower).

The rest I can work around as long as it's clean, has a comfy bed and good linens. Coffee maker is a plus, but I know that's the curse of vegas, and have found work arounds.

Location, glass-enclosed shower and big windows are my tops.

 

First & foremost - like many others have posted - is that the room is comped up-front. If it's not, I won't be staying there.
Second - that the comp is a "real" comp - meaning that I will not be charged a resort fee on my "comped" room.
Third - in room coffee.
Fourth - comfortable pillow & mattress.
Fifth - distance from the room to the main floor of the casino. High floors are fine, as I don't count elevator-movement time.
Sixth - A/C...is it effective? Do I get individual control? Will it stay on when I turn it on? (I like it very cool in my room!)
Seventh - room condition... working outlets, no burned-out bulbs, bathroom is actually clean...that sort of thing.
Eighth - TV channel options.
Ninth - Quality of in-room internet.
Tenth - physical location of the property.

 

Location, I've only stayed at 5-6 places now, I'm trying to get around to all of the big ones, I have yet to stay at Caesars, Bellagio, wynncore or venetian/pallazzo, so those will be my next 4 trips barring anything out of my control.
I really like being center strip after all these things are considered, price, food options, gambling luck and then pool. probably in that order .

 

Location, location, location.

That's why I choose The Mirage on the Strip and the Golden Nugget on Fremont.

 

I don't gamble enough to earn comps so price is #1 on my list. Location is probably next, I would rather stay at a boyd downtown property but will stay at other places if they are cheaper. I also rather have a nice safe and secure place to stay. All the other things - view, room size and comfort, location from elevator, etc. are nice but not a requirement. I have stayed at "dumps" in vegas before but as long as the place is in a safe neighborhood and the rooms and hotel/motel is secure I don't mind staying there.

 

I also fall into the group of not gambling enough to get comps (well a couple times I have) so first on my list is cost. I am good to go as long as it's clean. I also like to try out new places and have stayed at the Continental and Westward Ho to Mandalay Bay and everything in between. I prefer downtown to the strip, higher floor, i bring my own coffee maker if there is none in room.

 

No different than when I was on the road 4 nights a week
1) quiet room. In vegas end of the hall
2) comfortable bed
3) great shower
4) coffee in the room or just outside the elevator
5) doesn't really apply in Vegas but a nice bar near the hotel.

 

Lowest noise, which is getting harder to do at any property which has clubs. We don't really like the kinds of jostling mobs you get in public spaces at Bellagio. Of course safety and security, with good food choices on premises or nearby. We stay in suites at Wynn (before Wynn at Bellagio and Mirage) so we assume safe, secure, clean, comfortable and with superior housekeeping and service.

High floor and Strip side works best at Wynn, but at Encore that puts you on the Beach Club side-no bueno.

When I was young, I had limited money and it was all about comps, so I loved the Four Queens. Still a great deal for good fun for very little money.

 

1. Location, location, location! I like to stay center Strip, where I mainly hang out in the evenings. And during the day I can walk either way, north or south and on the east- or west- side of the Strip, so I always have a different scenery. And also, from there I have easy access to many bus lines and other public transport, in case I want to go further away from the Strip sometimes.

2. Price. If money was no object, I would probably stay at Cosmopolitan, for it's great location, nice casino and overall good vibe. And because it meets all my other requirements and wishes, as specified here-under. But since I usually stay in Vegas for 2-3 weeks, I can't afford to stay there. So therefore I try to find good alternatives in the same location.

3. A balcony. Or at least a window that opens. I'm a smoker and love a cigarette after waking up and before going to sleep (yes I know, nasty habit, but hey, I'm in sin city!), but I don't like my room filled with smoke and all my clothes hanging in it too. And how to let the Vegas vibe sink in better, than with a cocktail and cigarette on your own balcony?!

4. In-room internet (included in the resort fees). Doesn't have to be Wi-Fi perse, as long as I can connect to the internet and preferably with more than one device.

The above points are deal breakers, the rest are only perks:

5. A bathtub (and one deep/long enough, so I can totally soak in).

6. A fridge (not very obtainable in my price range, but if I have the option, yes please!). Otherwise: an ice-machine down the hallway will do the trick too, but I prefer a fridge, so I can keep some food and snacks (yoghurt, salad, left-overs, etc.) in my room.

7. Nice foodcourt, with different options for a quick/cheap breakfast or late night snack (Monte Carlo foodcourt was perfect when it still had McDonalds).

8. Good casino. I like to play where I'm staying before going out and when I get back, before going to sleep.

9. Silence. And then especially in the morning, because I like to stay up - and sleep in late. So a room at the end of the hallway is good, even if it's a long walk. Noise from clubs etc at night I don't really care about, as I'm usually still out and partying myself at that time anyway. A silent A/C is also very pleasant. And construction noises a big no no!

10. Nice view / high floor. A good Strip view (like at the Bellagio fountains) is premium, but a nice view at the Paris Eiffel Tower or a beautiful swimming pool area is also fine.

 

Comped is always good. Been luck the last few trips with comps at Cosmo and Bellagio. Don't care too much about the room, more about the hotel and its amenities as a guest outside the room.

I'm Casper-the-ghost-white, but a pool in summer is a good way to burn (literally) a few hours not losing $ at the tables.

 

What matters most to me is, which hotel offers me:
1. The nicest (comped) room
2. The most Resort Credit
3. The most Free Play

I travel and stay in hotels frequently. I have a list of peeves which of course changes from time to time.

I want a clean, comfortable, and secure room with as little hassle as possible. Location is always important, particularly if I do not have a car. I prefer a decent moderately priced restaurant on the property.

My peeves, lately, have included ...

Air conditioner that sounds like an air hammer or only gets the room luke-cool.
TV that has a limited selection of channels.
Card door lock that is flaky and does not open first time every time! (recent peeve!)
Shower only. I prefer a tub.
No convenient electrical outlet.
About anything that does not work where I have to phone the desk to complain.
Soda machine which does not work or is always out of diet Coke/Pepsi!
Ice machine only on another floor! (recent peeve)
Slow elevators.
Stuffy or disinfectant odor. Worse, smoke odor.
Front desk that answers with voice mail! (recent peeve)
