Due to the recent Penn National Gaming acquisition of Tropicana, i received a good offer from them based on my play at my local casino. It includes three free nights, daily food credit, and show tickets. I went ahead and booked the offer for mid-August but am now second guessing my decision and am interested in peoples' recent experiences and/or visits to the Trop.

One of my main concerns is since it is surrounded on three sides by MGM Properties, is everyone parking at Trop for free to avoid the parking fee? I have seen reports of full valet and self park. there was also a recent posting about cars being broken into in the parking garage. We get a rental car each trip...

Second is the fact that there are a lot of negative reviews stating that over half of the loungers at the pool require a $25 fee per day.

Has anyone experienced any issues with parking and/or the pool lounger situation?

I can stay at nearly every Caesar's property comp and enjoy the Diamond benefits, but just wanted to try something new. But not at the expense of having to hunt for a self park space and paying for pool loungers.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. I am going to attempt my first trip report this time around!!!

I'm taking advantage of a similar Marquee Rewards offer in September and was curious about this property as well. Hopefully you stay and can report back.

I cannot comment on either of your questions BUT I did stay at the Trop about 3 years ago & really liked it. Room was nice, casino is small & easy to get in & out of.

I've stayed there but it's been awhile. I like the place. We stopped in there and October and parked in a surface lot about a 30 second walk from the casino. Unheard of on the strip :)

I've stayed in suites at the Trop several times. For regular pool loungers there is no charge. There is a charge for the daybeds and, of course, for cabanas. I can't speak to parking as I don't rent a car in Vegas. I really like Biscayne, Bacio and The Beach Cafe.

I'll be there Aug. 17-20 on a great marquee rewards offer. 3 nights with $360 food credit and $150 free play. I play at the Hollywood in Lawrenceburg, IN pretty regularly. It's been about five years since I've stayed at the Trop, and that was right after their big renovation. It was nice back then, and I'm hoping it isn't showing too much wear and tear. Anybody else there the 17th-20th?

I don't think the Trop is in any trouble. They are undergoing an ownership change (much needed IMO). If anything they are on the way up.

I went in last Tuesday night, around 9pm and it was the busiest I've seen it in a very long time.

I've stayed twice this year and enjoyed it. All except those chairs at Beach Cafe. To wit:

"No, no, no... not so fast. You still haven't replaced those awful chairs? Last January you said they were being replaced," I whined.

"Yes... that's what they keep telling us. I agree, they aren't the most comfortable." She smiled. "Sorry...can I show you to a table, then?"

"No, you can't. Because last time you did, and I sat in one of those horrid chairs, my back did nothing but hurt, then my ass hurt, then my face hurt, then the whole thing folded up on me and I was stuck in the horrid chair with a face full of my own ass and you had to call security to get me untangled and get my ass out of my face."

To add on: I've gotten a similar offer. I was scratching my head over it because there is no mention of resort fees one way or another. Do they charge resort fees on comp offers? I was taken back when I saw the prices at some of their restaurants because they are pricey for restaurants that have no WOM one way or the other. The new ownership is committing to investing a nice chunk of change into the Trop so I may wait before I take up an offer.

The restaurants at Trop are very good; Biscayne, Bacio and the Beach Cafe. if they were elsewhere, you'd definitely hear more about them.

I have never been charged a resort fee on my comped nights but I haven't stayed there since Penn took over.

The reservation agent told me there are no resort fees on a comp stay. She also asked for any Hilton HHonors status as it is a Doubletree property. I told her I was gold and she entered my number in the system. She said HHonors Gold/Diamond entitles you to a free breakfast buffet for two in the Beach Cafe each morning of your stay ($42 value). It has no effect on any food credit you get as part of any Penn National offer. Also, HHonors gold entitles you to a free room upgrade based on availability. I will report back on my experience in all of this.

I also inquired about Marquee Rewards benefits and she said the only tiers that get benefits are Executive Producer & Icon (access to player's lounge). Producer tier gets next up access at cashier cage. No preferred access at restaurants for Producer.

If you're going to eat at the Trop, stop by Tix4Less to get discount at Biscayne or Bacio. You pay $3 to save 30% off entire bill. It helps make my Resort Credit last a little longer.

Been there done that... as of May of this year... Wife had nice offers from Hollywood casino also, ( she must be on the preferred loser list). Three night stay, $180 per day food credit and free slot play. Not to be outdone, Caesar's also has her on their radar.

We double booked and after arriving at the Trop and dropping our bags in the room, we stayed in the Augustus tower at Caesar's. ( $20 trick worked for five days)

We went back to the Trop for dinner each night. Biscayne and Bacio were excellent, Veal Parm was outstanding!! You cannot roll over food credit to the next day. Can't speak to parking as we flew in. Caesar's diamond status allowed us pool access .

To recap, even though they were both free, I would pay to stay at Caesar's over a free stay at the Trop.

I also get a similar offer due to my play at Hollywood Lawrenceburg.
I would not worry about parking.
    1. Trop has plenty of parking spaces
    2. most visotors to Vegas don't have a car. Now with Uber/Lyft, even fewer people renting cars.
    3. Mlife Pearl and above don't pay parking fee, and locals don't pay parking fee as of now.
