how have security lines been at McCarran? We have a 10am flight tomorrow, what time do you am suggest arriving? We will be going from mirage to LAS.

At Newark it's been nuts and they recommend closer to three hours (which we needed!).

I usually leave the hotel right about 2 hours before take-off. This have always given me a little wiggle room when security is taking awhile at Terminal 3. My last trip in December, I needed that whole 2 hours since the line at security was so long.

Figure on a Tuesday leaving mirage 8am for 10:05am flight seems safe enough?

Lately, last few trips anyway, I seem to sail through security at McCarran. Only a few minutes. This was, of course, C gates for Southwest. Much better lately in LV than in other airports.

I was flying American when I was there a month ago. Flew out at 4p on a Thursday and sailed right through security. Then again, I'm sure it would have been much longer if I was trying to fly out at 5p on a Sunday.

When I was leaving in June, it was the shortest wait I've ever had at security there.

I was flying SW out of the B gates. Literally no line. I walked right up. This was around 8:30 on a Friday morning.

Last fall I'd seen the longest lines in security at McCarran than i've ever seen. I was at Terminal 3. Probably 3 screening stations open, about 500-600 people in line. Thankfully I had pre check. Not a holiday weekend, or any event I knew of. It was a monday.

I usually depart at about 1700 to 1800 on a Tuesday or Wednesday, and I don't think I've ever had to stand in line through security going to a Southwest flight.

When my wife and I were in Vegas in May, I talked to one of the supervisors for TSA. She told me that McCarran Airport is one of the airports that was not affected by the TSA Shortage. When we left even though the lines were long, it went very smooth and did not take very long at all.

Sunday, 10am, B gates, no one in front of me at TSA-pre. Wait for non-TSA-pre was less than 5 min.

I got through security in Newark yesterday at 2pm in 10 minutes. Would have been quicker but they pulled me aside to pat down my socks.

THANKS ALL FOR THE REPLIES. We took uber at mirage at 800am and arrived at airport breezed through security and sitting at our gate by 825am. Insane how smooth that was. One of biggest wins of the trip!

Security came over to me after I went through the body scanner and said they had to check my socks. My socks? Yeah, man. It says we have to check them.

I guess they looked suspicious to someone.

Someone promote the guy who runs McCarran's TSA operations to Washington DC. Whatever they're doing there, they're doing it right.

Both of my last trips home I had the same experience as others stated here. Zero, literally zero wait.
