    My Trip Report

Wife and I sent to see Billy Idol last night at Casino Rama in Orillia. We had not been there in years. I thought I would give a little report.

Stayed at the Days Inn across the Road. It was clean, the shower was clean with nice water pressure and it was quiet. Their website stated free shuttle rides which was not the case. They had a limo going back and forth for $8 a car load so you could split it with others. Another couple on the way over paid for it and we were alone on our way back. For $8 it was worth it. It was way too hot to be walking.

Arrived at 3:00 and signed up for Players Cards. July they are giving $20 freeplay for their 20th Anniversary which was a nice touch. At 40 we were the youngest people in there by a long shot and we didn't have walkers or canes. Wife played slots for a bit and I was up a bit on video BJ before we decided to grab the buffet.

The lunch buffet was $15 a piece and wasn't over the top but was decent for the price. They had your regular pasta, chinese, roast beef and steak slices offerings. I enjoyed the bbq steak slices and perogies. A large draught beer was pretty much $10 with tip and mixed drinks were about $12 - $15. Sucks when your booze isn't comped.

Not much in terms in wins. As soon as my wife wins something she pretty much quits gambling for awhile. She's funny. She did one $5 spin (by accident) on Wheel of Fortune and won $95. She immediately cashed out.

We played Big Bang Theory for a bit. The big two seater machine. Hit the Bazinga about 4 times and only caught $15 or less each time. We played for quite a bit on only $20 before we had to get dressed for the show.

Billy Idol and Steve Stevens put on a heck of a show. Billy Idol was cut and in great shape. I was surprised how great he looked. They played for about 2 hours playing all the hits and a few others. I did not get one decent photo off of my iPhone. My wife had better ones on her phone.

This was our first concert there. The sound was great. We were center in the last section but at the front of it. If you were farther back I think it would have been worse but we had a good view of the stage and screens. You can see in the picture there is one section below us before the floors. That would be the place to sit as they are more forward facing.

We scoured around the casino for awhile afterwards losing at slots here and there. We went back to the side room where Video Poker and Video BJ is located. Note, this separate room is hotter and smellier than the rest of the casino. It's kind of gross actually but thats where the video machines are. I ended playing $5 a hand on the video BJ and hit a decent streak where I got my money back for most of my losses before we called it a night.

It was and all positive experience. For the little amount of play I already have cheap room offers and meal discounts/coupons loaded on my card. I don't think it would be too hard to get some real comps. We will be back for another show for sure.

    GREAT TR!
My bride and I like to go to concerts/comedians at casinos in our area. A nice time together for supper, a little casino action, and a show--plus a few hours away from the kids!
    Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Nice TR. I am from TN but have been to Rama 7 or 8 times. When I have business to attend to in Toronto I rent a car for a few extra days & drive down. Have also caught a few shows there (country) I think the sounds is great there.

Have you every played in Barry (an OLG) at the Georgia Downs? I won so much better there then at Rama. Olso when had to go to North Bay went further up to the Sudbury OLG and felt that was a waste of time lol!

No free booze sucks but am use to it as the local (IL or IN) isnt free (boo!)
