    My Trip Report

Well, for all the good it did me, I had $1030 in free play for this latest trip.

No hand pays, no substantive jackpots. Just emptying my wallet into the machines.

I did make enough TC that, after the Q2 bonus, I will have renewed 7*, but this trip wasn't much fun.

The only pictures I even brought back was of my dinner.

Got in Friday night and delivered the dim sum to my hosts. Then redeemed the first $250. The night was pretty brutal, but I did make about 1600TC, went to bed at 1:30AM. Hope that tomorrow would be better.

Well, tomorrow Saturday WASN'T much better. I did manage to stay more or less even for the first 1000TC, but then I got a "wild hair" and decided to go to Atlantis to give them some play and try their new buffet.

It then dawned on me that "If I was comparing Reno to Atlantic City, Harrahs is to Caesars as Atlantis is to Borgata." The vibe at Atlantis is much nicer than Harrahs, all of the newer slot machines, the hotel/casino is alive with activity.

As with Atlantic City, if I wasn't CET, I wouldn't be playing at Harrahs.

The new year started at Atlantis, and I somehow managed to keep my higher level at Atlantic ( the "match" level that I received when I signed up as CET 7*). I have about $325 in comp money to use. The problem with Reno is that my ADT is at a level that Harrahs keeps giving me more and more food comps. I got a $125 food comp to use this trip. For one person that's a lot of food. Both of my prospective dates cancelled on me, so I was the steak house for sure and order enough food to bring back for my son and my Dad.

Oh well, had lunch at the "new" Atlantis buffet. A very nice buffet for $19.00. I had Prime Rib, Seafood scampi with steamed clams, and mashed potatoes and gravy.

I had $100 FP at Atlantic, but ended up losing. I made my lunch in comp money.

Went back to Harrahs to pick up my cooler and see the Casino Marketing Manager. Every Saturday the VP of Harrahs Reno has a "meet and greet" in the High Limit slot area, and all the department heads are there.

I usually take that opportunity to point out things that I see that they may not see, like the fact that certain slot machines are not playable in the morning because of glare from the sun, and the rooms and their electrical outlet placement.

I ended up staying and playing until my 6:30PM dinner reservation at the Steak House.

I had been going to Harrahs Steak House since the mid 70's, but have only recently resumed going there.

They have two tables which I call "the lonely guy (LG) tables". They seat two, but those are the tables where they seat singles.

Both of the LG tables were in use, and the people were eating slowly, so rather than make me wait, the maître d' seated me in a booth.

The Steak House captain was my waiter and I decided to order a lot of food in order to have plenty of take out.

    I ordered:

    Artichoke appetizer
    upload_2016-7-10_18-13-39.png
    Seafood Platter
    upload_2016-7-10_18-14-36.png Onion Onion Soup
    upload_2016-7-10_18-14-53.png
    18 oz. Prime rib
    upload_2016-7-10_18-15-5.png
    Baked pasta with three cheeses
    upload_2016-7-10_18-15-16.png
    Creamed Spinach
    upload_2016-7-10_18-16-3.png
    Cherry Dessert
    upload_2016-7-10_18-16-16.png
    A box of truffles.
    upload_2016-7-10_18-16-30.png

The total bill came to $129.95 with tax, so I had to pay $5 plus tip, and I had enough to feed me, my Dad, and my son for dinner tomorrow night.

I put the leftovers in the refrigerator and will put them in the cooler that I brought.

So, the only thing left to do was go to Tahoe to pick up $250 in promo chips. Now, I have been svaing these chips, and when I get $1000 or so, I will Have enough to make a table game run. Next weekend I will be getting about $625 in promotional chips from Tahoe and $250 from Reno.

The thing that had crossed my mind earlier in the day was to get my 2500TC day done in Reno, so Tahoe after dinner would then just be optional, and I could do Tahoe on the way home.

Then I realized that if I did it tomorrow, I would incur a playing day, so I had to do tahoe tonight.

Now, that afternoon, I had taken a beating, so I wasn't really interested in playing much at Tahoe. I drove to Tahoe, and only intended to play, maybe 100TC. I went to the High Limit slot pit to play SassyKat's favorite machine. I put $100 in and on the next to the last spin, I had three single bars with one double. $300. Made $200. I cashed out and went to the 7* cage and got my $250 in promotional chips. I decided that making back $200 plus $250 in promo chips was enough, and got my car and drove back to Reno.

I have $250 more in FP/Promo chips waiting for me downstairs, but I have to wait until 12:01 to claim them. I'm done playing, and went upstairs to start my TR. I may just take promo cips instead of slot play. I get $280 in promo chips next week when I come up for the Tahoe incentive, so that will ginve me $530 in chips at Reno and about $1200 in Tahoe. It's an 8 hour round trip, but to me it's worth it.

It's now about 11:40PM, time to make sure that I'm packed and ready to go tomorrow as soon as I get up.

A brutal trip, but those things happen. . .

So I'm guessing you lost a G or two? and did or did not earn 1000/2500TC per day?
Sorry to laugh...but Reno/Tahoe is USUALLY that way to me...D-E-A-D (Obviously, not Atlantis, as you saw)

Sorry that the gambling session wasn't fun -- I've had weird lucky with my CET properties as of late. Hope it turns around :)

Sorry about the losing trip - but that food looked good! The Cherry dessert especially looked interesting. I always enjoy your commentary - and you are very thoughtful in your gifts to your hosts.
Hope next weekend's trip is a big winner.

    H DaiLun:

Thanks for sharing the story. It is a lot harder to relate losing trips than winning ones so I appreciate your candor. It also puts gambling into perspective. I see that you are collecting promotion play chips from both Reno and Tahoe. I know it is your goal to use $1000 or so on one trip. I hope that you can interchangeably use CET Reno and Tahoe chips at one place.

No the chips are not interchangeable, but I play at both places . . . .

    It's hard to tell a "non-winning" story, but gambling is a negative expectation game . . .

Do you know if exchanging one of the free play vouchers for chips initiates a gaming day? I have $400 in free play this weekend. I have to go up to Tahoe to pick up a bike and was thinking about just grabbing the chips without playing, but I probably won't if it causes a gaming day to be triggered.

DaiLun - did you end up finding any good Harrahs Reno or Tahoe hosts?

Well, I'm in the "Asian marketing Group", so my choices are limited. It's also a "small" community of hosts and I know the Marketing Manager in Reno, so I wasn't really "looking".

After the Q2 bonuses are paid out, I will have renewed 7*, so I won't "need" Reno/Tahoe until wintertime when they hand out the free lift tickets.

I'm doing a quick turnaround for promo chips this weekend. 8 hours on the road for $925 in promo chips. I will put in a 500TC day between Reno and Tahoe and hope it doesn't kill my ADT too much.

After that, I will have $500 and $1200 in Promo chips for Reno/Tahoe respectively.

My host is not a "bad" host. He is quite responsive, there was a misunderstanding between us. I (think) it's ironed out.

I am under the impression that it does. It is my understanding that anytime your card is swiped into the system, it generates a gaming day. That is why I'll put in "a little" play.

They never swipe my card. Just check my ID. I know they scan the voucher though which could be enough to set a trigger I guess.

I tell non-winning stories all the time, bro! Nice write up, sorry that it ended on the wrong side of negative. Redeem yourself next time!
