In the past I have gotten offers for free nights and free play from the Plaza. I would get them in the mail and could go online and log in and see what I had available. One thing I like to do is just go out and check my offers at the various places in case a discussion ever comes up about going to Vegas I have an idea of what types of offers I have. Plus on my last trip in June I made it to King and wanted to see if my comps had changed any. Will this month I have not gotten any offers and when I go to the website there doesn't appear to be an option to log in anymore to check your offers. The link for the Royal Reward members now takes you to a form that you fill out to make a request. I can't seem to be able to find anywhere that I might be able to access any offers I might have.

Have any other Plaza Royal Reward Members run into this? Are they just doing away with their offers and you now have to make a request? Or am I just not smart enough to figure out how to get to my offers (which is very plausible)?

    Thanks!!

It appears there's some changes underway, and the Royal rewards site is being retired. I received this marketing email from the Plaza on July 7th:

The Player Request Page link leads to the Plaza form you mentioned.

I got this email too, and I'm completely baffled. Is the point that if you wanted to maybe see if you have a comped room offer you should fill out the form and ask? That's some great 'guest experience' right there...

And what if you need immediate attention and it's after 9pm Sunday thru Thursday?

    What are you doing, Plaza???

I think it's a way of reducing the number of hosts & "saving" money.
I seem to see a different new host each vacation. I like Curt the best.

Got the same email. Too much work/mystery to make an inquiry.

About a year ago, I got a mailer that said they would match any other competitors best offer. I did not take them up on the room offer, but I did take them up on $100 FP. I was expecting some sort of sales pitch or at least some kind of incentive to give the Plaza a try on my next visit.....

What I got was a run-around. I went to Royal Rewards and the clerk directed me to the host office. There was a big empty desk and a big empty room. I peeked into a doorway to the right where there were a pair of people in conversation. They saw me but did not acknowledge me. I stepped back into the office and waited for about 3 minutes. I decided that I would just play bit of VP and leave. Someone from the host office did come looking for me after about 5 more minutes. I collected my $100 FP (from a grumpy old man), and that was the last time I have been to the Plaza. I really have no plans to return. This is a poorly run place. Done.

Oh, and El Cortez has also discontinued their personalized web portal as well. They say...."Due to recent customer feedback, we have decided to discontinue the personalized player URL program".

What? What customer would say "I don't like having my comps spelled out for me on a convenient web page". It does not happen. This is just another cost cutting measure. It's a big step backward if you ask me.

I got almost exactly the same treatment last December. The "gentleman" spoke to me like I was a mongoloid. He and his buddy reminded me of used car salesmen . At that point, I didn't even want to mess with them, so I didn't. I think the carpet in there used to be shag but it's just gotten really worn over the years. And I could've swore I saw popcorn ceilings in a few places. My first impression of the Plaza was about equal to that of the Skyline.....but without the awesome $1.49 shrimp cocktail.

Ok, I least it wasn't an ID_10_T error on my part. I really hate they are changing this. Most of our trips are based on a quick decision to go and being able to know what I have and book right then. If I have to wait 24 hours only to be told I have nothing, not sure that is going to work for me. What I really hate is that I just recently started focusing my play there and made to King. I am a pretty low roller so doing this pretty much had me focusing my play there and was not an easy task. Since then my comps at MMS have been reduced which I can only guess is because of my reduced play last time I was there. I got in before this change and got a comped weekend in August but may have to take my play back to MSS. Or give the D or DDG a shot.

I know in the past when I contacted the Host at the Plaza directly they were only offering me reduced rates and then would get a mailer with 3 comped nights any day of the week. So I can only assume that the comped stays are over since I will be having to contact them directly.

    Thanks for your responses.

    Molymilker,

Thanks for raising this question, please DM me directly and I can look into your offers and check to see why you haven't received them yet.

You do not need to wait as your offers will be coming to you by email and mail. The offers will be exactly the same as those on the website previously. Once you receive your offer, you can book at anytime directly on the Plaza website, contact Casino Services or as always myself. Thank you for reaching out.

That is not the case. Your offers will always be emailed and mailed to you in advance. That is your offer for the period of time on the mail piece. Using that offer, you can book directly through the Plaza website, Casino Services or myself (contact info below.)
We can always take care of any immediate needs you may have. Feel free to DM or call as well.

OK, so you are now mailing and emailing offers. The email sent to us didn't say this, and judging by this thread, most people were baffled by the change.

I never did try to use the Plaza site to ask about comped rooms.
I have always just emailed a host and inquired. No problem.

The one time I tried contacting a host the best the host could do was some reduced rates. I declined the offer and a week or so later I received my usual mailer for 3 comp nights any day of the week. So I booked it. I just don't think my play warrants the time of a host. I just prefer to get my offer in the mail or be able look them up on a website when planning a trip. Having to ask someone then feel beholding to them to be sure and play at their expectation is not my thing. . I just don't want to feel obligation to a host to have to meet certain obligations. My Vegas trips are not planned out and we do things that we feel will interest us at that exact moment. Sometimes I gamble more than others. So I don't want to have a host thinking that I am going to be doing more play then I actually will do this particular trip and then feel like I burned them.

It just boils down to, I like getting the offers in the mail and being able to sort through them when planning a trip. I know with Boyd I can log onto their app and see exactly what I have for the next three months and plan accordingly. We are kind of "in the moment" people. When my wife says lets go to Vegas I book that night. If I have to wait 24 hours the feeling may pass and we may talk ourselves out of it. But once I book it is set in stone (mentally).

Also I really don't like asking for things. If they offer it I am fine but to have to ask just isn't my thing.

I totally agree with you on all of that. I don't like asking for things either. My play is pretty minimal since I retired so I don't think it warrants a host either.
But until someone tells me to Go Away, I will just keep booking this way.;)

Trust me if I had to offer what you do I wouldn't hesitate to be asking what they could do for me.. You have your message board which is worth way more then my gambling budget. They sure want to keep you happy as you have a way further reach then myself.

Since a couple people in this thread mentioned the Plaza runaround with their match offers, and the piss poor service from the hosts there in doing so. I figured I'd bump this thread from last month and repost my story of getting my free play offer matched.

Please forgive the font, I just copied it from my own blog.

Since I actually knew my host, he loaded my "Match" offer on my card before I got there. So I just picked up a copy of my card and off I went.

I took my brother along, who was actually Diamond with CET and a decent player himself. He remembers seeing some email before on this promo and since he was booked at the Venetian this trip he just so happened to have his offer from them in hand. The players club desk tells the kid he has to see a host about getting his "Free Play Match" loaded. And that's where the trip took a turn for the worse.

There were two people in the host lounge. Some guy named Jim looked up at the kid when he walked in and just said "Yeah?" The kid explained that the desk told him to come in with his offer and someone would match it. Jim says "Did you get the mailer from us" and the kid says "I think I got an email but my brother got his Free Play matched before he got here" His host said just to show up with my free play offer to get it matched"

Jim: "You don’t have a mailer though? Let me see your ID." He gave over his ID and asked “would it be easier if I just waited for my brothers host? I don’t want to get anybody in trouble if this is such an ordeal”. Jim said “No, I want to get to the bottom of this. You’re not supposed to get any matching offers without the mailer, but some people like to make up their own $X!@KING rules, even though I have to follow the rules” He continued scrolling through the computer not saying a word or even acknowledging him any more and after about 10 minutes he just said “You’re Oscars offer, do you have your card?” He then grabbed his players card, made some photocopies and told the lady at the players club booth to load the money onto his card and then went back to his office without saying a word to him.

The kid had to stand there and listen to this tirade from Jim for a good 10 minutes before he agreed it was to be loaded on his card. So it probably took 20 minutes in all before he could go gamble.

The kid was embarrassed that they talked down to him and even though he got his $100 in free play he didn't want to stick around. This Jim guy laid into him pretty rough and he didn't even want to play there with me after that. I only gambled through $500 of coin before he walked out of the hosts office and just said lets go.

The match play is a great promo, it gets players in the door. If they like what they see, they might stick around or even come back and stay.

But when you lore them in and one of your employees slaps them in the face with hostility, like ours did. Or they go ignored like gregluvsvegas was, or treated with a heavy hand like TJC was, whats the point of running this promo?

To get people in your casino and expose them to your rude staple of hosts?

I actually like their casino. I like their selection of slots, plenty of older titles and newer ones. I like the layout. I like the food offerings. I like to rooms. I like the location. I liked the friendly staff I met at the front desk and in the restaurants.

But those are all people I interact with once a trip. My host I should be able to interact before, during and after. And if they keep employing the bottom of the barrel like this, and chasing off their good ones for various reasons, why would any real gambler go there?

They should just stick to groupon offers and collecting a $20 off random tourists. I run through almost $10K in slots a day. I'm not a big player, but I probably would be at the Plaza. Even so I get treated with respect at every other casino in town. If a host cant help we they will say "Sorry, but..." at the Plaza its more like "Dont even bother approaching me to ask"

My old host Jeff from the Plaza is now at the Stratosphere and we still talk, I've even stayed there with him before. Curt was awesome, but went away. I hear nice things about Yolla but she had to get out as well. And those are just the hosts that used to post on these boards while they worked at the Plaza. Maybe others have ditched as well that most of you dont even know.

Maybe they don't pay their hosts enough, so the good ones move out. And thats why they end up with so many hosts that just dont care. Whatever it is, I know the hosts there end up costing them players in a lot of cases.
