Hi everyone, I'm new to this game. I get a little confused of how the hands would be set up. With these examples, how would the hands get set up?

PAI CARD POKER SET THESE HANDS UP (Suit does not matter)

    1. K, J, 10, 9, 7, 5, 3 2nd highest hand _ _ highest hand _ _ _ _ _

    2. Q, 7, 8, 3, Q, 9, 4 2nd highest hand _ _ highest hand _ _ _ _ _

    3. K, 7, 3, K, A, 3, 4 2nd highest hand _ _ highest hand _ _ _ _ _

    1) JT No pair/straight/flush = put 2nd and 3rd highest ranked cards as 2 card hand.
    2) 98 One pair/no straight or flush = put highest two ranked unpaired cards as 2 card hand.
    3) A7 Two pair hands are tricky. Whether or not you should split is based on the rank of the pairs as well as the strength of the highest unpaired card. Stragegy linked above is pretty simple to memorize and gives you slightly better results than most casino house ways.

When I used to play Pai Gow Poker, I used the following rule on whether to keep two pairs together of separate them as long as no flush or straight appears.

2, 3, 4, 5 are Low cards; 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are Medium cards; J, Q, K, A are High cards. You can define low, medium, and high cards as you see fit. Maybe a 6 is a low card for you.
If I have two pairs that are H, H or H, M, I split the pairs regardless.
If I have two pairs that are H, L or M, M, I keep the two pairs together if I have at least an A in the two-card hand. Otherwise, I split the two pairs.
If I have two pairs that are M, L or L, L, I keep the two pairs together if I have at least a K in the two-card hand. Otherwise, I split the two pairs.

If I have three pairs, I put the highest pair in the two-card hand.
If I have a three-of-a-kind and two pairs, I put the highest pair in the two-card hand.

Fours-of-a-Kind, Fours-of-a-Kind with a Pair, and Fours-of-a-Kind with a Three-of-a-Kind are a bit more complex albeit great to have. Just as an example: If I have 4 Aces and 3 Kings, I would put K, K as the two-card hand. If I have 4 Aces and 3 Twos, I would put A, A as the two-card hand.

It's always best to find out the house way because some places split low pairs even with an ace and some don't. Important info to know

The third hand is the most interesting. Not sure it's a rule that you always separate two pairs. Perhaps the kicker isn't high enough with the ace? Or is it because the kings are a high pair? Do you split the pairs with a hand like 4433AK9?

As to the last hand, some places will keep the two pair together IF you can play an Ace in the front hand. Otherwise, split the two pairs.

The general rule is if you have two low pair (6s or lower) you should play the two pair together.
