    My Trip Report

    Good morning VMB!

    Attempting a semi-live trip report to practice for a couples trip in October. This trip includes me (E - 41), hubby (V - 44), 3 daughters (G - 9), (H - 8), and (S - 7). Also going is sister-in-law (J - 39) and her 2 daughters (Sa - 10) and (N - 9). The 5 little girls will be collectively referred to as "The Cousins".

My brood is staying at Excalibur (first time there...never would consider if not for kids) on a 3 night free room offer through MLife (pay resort fee) and $175 FP. Booked an additional night for Friday the 8th also at Excalibur...hoping we can stay in same room all 4 nights. SIL and her girls are also staying at Excalibur. (V and I prefer Bellagio and Cosmopolitan, but again...kids in tow, so to the castle we will go.)

Plans include: Cabana, Shark Reef, Beatles LOVE, and more that I will add as we go.

I'm bringing $2,500 bankroll, and I play mostly slots ($2- $5 bets usually) and a little bit of VP. No table games for me and hubby doesn't gamble. Squeezing gambling time in with kids there is always fun! I have an interesting system of slot gambling that would annoy most. I usually put $40- $100 in a machine, spin the amount of spins that buys (ex. put in $100 with $2/max bet and do 50 spins, cash out, insert more $, repeat). I keep tabs on what I play/win/lose in a notebook and keep tabs on spins with a finger clicker counter. I will attempt to add a picture.

Now don't judge, I know some people can't stand kids in Vegas, and I get it! We love to go without them, but that's not always an option. We do try hard to keep kids from annoying others, we don't haul them around super late, and we aim for the more kid-type activities when possible.

So for those of you who aren't turned off by a trip report with kids as a big part of it and only slot play, I hope you'll follow along.

First attempt with Tapatalk, so hope this post even shows up...same for my first picture!

    Cheers!

Looks like my first trip post and pic made it through the worm holes of Tapatalk cyberspace.

Let's try a pic of my ever high tech slot system that includes my finger clicker and notepad.

BTW, we are driving from Ogden, UT to LV today. We're from Colorado (suburbs of Denver) and have been visiting V's family in Utah. SIL, J and her girls live in UT and will be driving too.

Have a great time with the kids!! I am bringing my fiancee's son, who is 9 years old to Vegas as well in the beginning of August. We will be flying to San Diego for 4 nights on August 1st, renting a car, taking him to Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and other places, then driving to Vegas for 5 nights at the Flamingo. Usually I don't stay in Flamingo when I go to Vegas, but I figured since the kid is going, the Flamingo with it's nice pool area and the central location will be best for the kid. Have Blue Man Group. Tournament of Kings and some magic show planned for him in Vegas. Gambling should not be a problem for me, since my fiancee does not gamble. She will be spending lots of time with him in Vegas, allowing me to roam free in the casino!! :woohoo:

She talked about it in the first post. Counting spins, cashing out, repeat. Interesting and it works for her, so great.

(on the other hand, I can not count, spin, drink and watch out for eye candy all at the same time....)

Spin counting watch in the one picture. If you are playing the same amount per spin, you could use your players card data instead, but MGM is bad about partial point countdowns.

    Good luck Vegasworm!

Beautiful drive from UT to LV. We've been taking our daughters since they were born. They mostly spend time shopping with Mom and pool stuff.
They're in their mid to late teens now but they both still like going to NYNY arcade. We used to do Excalibur's but NYNY is their favorite. Excal is fun for kids tho. We did the Tournament show one time- they enjoyed it. We used to go to Dick's Last Resort, but the last time turned us off.

Hope you win some cash! Good luck!!

We made it at about 4:45pm. Tried out self parking since we're Pearl. What a cluster you know what!

Went ahead and parked on the roof, trekked in to check in, saw a line stretching back to Utah, saw the sign that you only have to be a lowly Pearl status to VIP check-in, marched past 2 million people, and checked in. Lost Gold a while back, since we only make it about once a year now.

Nice lady linked my 3 comped nights with my paid Friday night, so I won't have to mess with checking in again. She also added my $175 fp, although I haven't verified this. She looked up J's (SIL) reservation. Just and her girls are about 2 hours behind us on the road. She said we're in the same tower, but not the same floor. Of course the computer system was down, so hoping J can request the same floor when she gets here.

We're on the 7th floor, very last room at the end of a very Shining-like hallway, facing the floor. I really had no preference what we got, since it's free, and my girls can now say they've slept in the castle.

As for me...missing the Bellagio and Cosmo, but will do something like that in October with just V. Also, screw parking garages even if it is covered by Pearl card. Once I checked in, I hauled the family back to the rooftop garage (we had not brought any luggage in yet), wheeled Olive out of there, and headed for valet.

Best $13 or $15 or whatever it is to valet park, I could spend. Tipped $10 for the bell hop to unload 500 pieces of luggage and kid stuff out of a smelly van and now waiting to tip $15 to have the bell hop unload our junk in the room.

I'll give a room description in a bit with some pics. Want to practice again with pictures since my last one was crooked.

Thanks to those of you following along. I will reply more when I set up my laptop. Typing on my phone is challenging!

So, I'm on my laptop now. I keep getting an error when I try to load a picture from my phone....like a really long, lots of code strings message. Also, I can see the thumbnail of the picture before I submit and it's sideways. Not sure how to fix that since the picture looks normal on my phone. If I can ever get the picture to submit.....

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I'm going to look back through the threads and see if I can find some Tapatalk info.

    Testing with a picture.

Wrote a reply from my laptop about picture problems, but it says awaiting moderator approval to be publicly visible.

Sorry for the delay in pictures folks. I'm going to attempt some things in a bit that Sonya suggested and see if we have visuals.

Until then, the latest update is that three out of my three children have cried and had mini-meltdowns. We're still in the room and they're chilling finally, while we wait for J, Sa, and N to get checked in. We've pulled some late nights lately at my in-laws, so no surprise that the kids are crumbling.

I bumped our reservation at Buca di Beppo until 8:30pm. It's family friendly and right here at Excalibur. After that, maybe a quick walk around and then V is bringing the girls back to the room for the night, so I can finally get my gamble on!!!

Such a difference when we bring the girls vs coming alone. I would have already been 3-5 drinks in and have cycled my $2,500 through at least once. Right now $0 gambled and 0 drinks in the system unless water counts. I promise that will change people! Stick with me...even a report with kids can get exciting. I just have to get them to bed!

I'm going to mess around again to see if I can get this picture problem ironed out. Apparently, Tapatalk does not like me very much. Thanks for your help Sonya!
