    My Trip Report

Making the semi-annual trip starting with a 7:00am non-stop out of BOS tomorrow. The gap between my winter trips and the summer ones is usually only 5 months, but this gap seemed to take forever for some reason.

    Anyways rough outline:
    • Cosmo Terrace Studio for 3 nights Sat-Sun-Mon, first two nights are Gold comp nights and the third is at $110. I expect I'll be able to get the third night comped back end.
    • Moving to a Terrace Suite for 4 nights Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri, the base is comped on a marketing offer and then I'm paying 100-100-100-200 in upgrade fees. Last trip was the same arrangement and they ended up taking off $300 back end. Also $135 Freeplay on this offer. I'll most likely reach Gold tier again but it could be close if there's a lot of back end comps.
    • Caesars for 7 nights in a Forum Tower room. I'm Diamond, and they usually offer to put me in Augustus but I'd rather just keep the Forum room, I like the location. Five nights comped, and due to a quirk in the availability calendar when I booked, I'm paying only $92 for the Saturday night (check in day) and $62 for the last night (Friday), for a total of $154. Usually on CET, the first five nights are comped and I pay for the last two, and it's usually over $300. $100 in Freeplay and $50 in Resort Credit. I was hoping for a $225 Freeplay offer instead, but it never showed up, and I probably wouldn't have been able to get as good a rate on the paid nights, so I'm OK with that.

Bought a ticket to see Steven Tyler at Venetian tomorrow night. I'm thinking it's only about 50/50 whether I'll end up going, given that I'll be up at 3:00am EDT for the flight and the show will start at 11:00pm EDT. If I do go, I'm planning to do a measured session on a $1 or $5 slot at Palazzo to see what they have the theo set for.

While I'm at Cosmo, I have one night booked at MGM Grand to burn off a Spring Buzz offer that was too good not to use - $150 Freeplay and $200 Resort Credit. I'm basically ditching MGM and I intended to no-play them on the last trip but it didn't happen. But this time, I'm just going to use the Freeplay on a $25 machine and add another $25 of my own to keep my ECs alive, I have enough ECs that it will take me 2 or 3 more trips to burn them off. Just going to use the room to see how much $200 in room service buys. Check in, use the Freeplay, use the Resort Credit, then back to Cosmo.

At Cosmo, I'll mostly be playing slots, mostly Double Diamond variations for $5 a spin and mix in a little volatility with Davinci and Cleo II at $5 - $20 a spin. Throw in a little Pai Gow. I want to try to find out very specifically how their process works for Tier Credits for table games. If it's OK, then maybe a little craps and bacc as well.

At Caesars, pretty much the same, except more craps, way more craps. I have good luck at craps at Caesars, usually can play forever and a lot of the dealers recognize me, so it's a good time.

I use a soft loss limit of ~$600 a day, but my last couple of trips have been way better than that in terms of actual results. I've had relatively good luck 3 out of the last 4 trips, including a handpay at each of the 3 casinos I stayed at last trip, so I'm hoping that continues.

No smartphone, so any pics I post will suck, but I'll do my best. And lots of stats.

Two weeks! I'd love to try that sometime but fear I'd go broke or my liver would finally surrender. Good luck; will be following your updates.

They let you use your buzz offer with only one night booked? Wish I had known that.

Have a BLAST! AND thanks for sharing your daily soft loss limit. I've been curious.

Actually impressed on no smartphone....nice way to have no cord.

Again, have an amazing trip, and I hope your MGM $25 free play wins huge!!!!

Sorry for the radio silence, first day was bad and it threw me off.

    Saturday:
Flight left the gate 30 mins late due to TSA problem with x-ray machines, which held up some baggage. But arrived more or less on time and I was able to check in around 11:00am. I was supposed to be paying for one night, but they said all 3 were comped. They put me in a One Bedroom instead of a Studio, but it's on a low floor at the end of the hall right next to the Marquee Dayclub pool, so noisy during the afternoon, but that's OK.

Got a slot voucher for $2,000 and hit the HL slots room. Started on a $5 Double Diamond, but didn't like the way it was playing, so when I was down $300, switched to Davinci Diamonds at $1, playing 20 lines ($20 a spin). So this is where discipline went right out the window. It was playing horribly, but it only takes one bonus round to make a good score. Nope. Donked off the remaining $1,700 without even hitting a single bonus. Argh. Based on points earned, I figure I did about $5,000 coin in, so the $2,000 loss is 40% - just horrible. I think I need to stay out of the HL room, I've had no luck in there at all.

Went to $10 craps, played more odds than I usually do, good crew, some fun players, played about 4 hours, lost $600. So minus $2,600 on the day.

I was so pissed about the slots I didn't even pick up my entries for the daily slot tourney. Got room service for dinner, hit the sack.

    Sunday:
Dialed it way back, wrote off Saturday as first day bad discipline. Played a $1 Double Diamond with 5 lines that had been good to me last trip. Being Gold means it takes $3,750 coin-in to get 2,500 points and the max 5 entries in the daily tourney, and that's right around the amount I'm comfortable playing at. Lost $283, so 7.5%, much better, considering I didn't hit a handpay.

Got my 5 entries in the slot tourney, but my highest score was only 560,000. It's taking over 800,000 to place in the money and over 1,000,000 to win.

    Monday:
Just got back from a session on the same $1 x 5 line Double Diamond, did $3,750 coin-in to get the 2,500 points and 5 tourney entries. Minus $683 or 18%, about average. Loaded up $95 in freeplay I had accumulated; it yielded $57. Done gambling for today, just gonna go down and play my tourney entries when it starts at 1:00pm.

Moving to a Terrace Suite tomorrow for 4 more nights.

    Stats:
Slots: minus $2,966 on ~$12,500 coin in, or 24%
    Craps: minus $600

One thing I noticed in the room is that it looks like they have changed up the software for the TVs. You can (supposedly) connect to your account for subscription streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, but it looks like they don't offer in-room movies anymore (which was a Gold/Platinum perk, you'd get one or two free per stay).

This was the Spring Buzz offer, it came out a long time ago. I wasn't sure, but I wasn't surprised they let me book the single night.

But all the Summer offers are two night mins. I wanted to switch the booking from MGM to Aria or Bellagio so I could just walk over easily instead of making the hike to MGM, but when I called to book, they wouldn't do the single night. Plus the Summer offers were $25 less freeplay and $100 less Resort Credit, so I just hung onto the older MGM reservation.

Well, I owe you one. I had no clue you could book an M Life offer for one night and still get all the freebies. Due to no a.m. flights I am coming in a day early and was just going to stay at the Vdara. I could have gotten another night at the Cosmo - but I still need 50,000 tier credits to hit platinum so plan on giving M Life some play anyway. Staying at MGM Grand with $450 in free play is way better than staying at the Vdara and paying with EC's. I know I could have double booked the one night, but didn't want the hassle.

Thanks. I hope your luck changes :(

We're all rooting for you Chuck! You're just getting the rough patch out now so that the rest can be stellar. Win big, and may Double Diamonds do you great!

I have a Double Diamond obsession. Good luck with yours! I'll be playing mostly Bellagio in couple days but might visit next door at Cosmo, as I like their Double D in HL.
