Might just have to give that a go! We've got a show at 7.30 on the night of the draw but I reckon we could make it downtown by 10pm if we have an entry ticket.

    Cheers for that.

So they're closing on the 27th but the drawings for the progressives are on the 25th. And I get into town on the 26th. I imagine all of the progressive machines will be shut down on the 25th. I'll stop in for one last pull. Both at Mermaids and at Glitter Gulch ;)

I will be there from the 22nd to the 25th leaving on the 25th unless family wants to stay one more night. I will be able to play one more time there, but not participate in the drawing unless we stay one more night.

I just read on Vital vegas that casinos are required to have all jackpots and progressives paid out on their casino owned machines (WOF and Megabucks don't count). Has anyone been around during the final hours of a casino? Are the machines set to pay better because of this?

I'll be in town when Mermaids closes and I'm wondering if it's worth planning my trip around to visit and see what happens.

Anyone heard a time yet? Midnight on the 26th? Midnight on the 27th? Noon? I'll be in town later on the 27th and would make a last trip there if still open.

Typically machines are not set to pay better. They'll be left alone. But what they do is take the progressive prizes and award those as cash. Typically this is done by a drawing and you can earn entries in various ways. They will call names for a prize until it's claimed. If you read the entire vital Vegas article you'll see what mermaids plans to do.

I read the article but I wasn't sure if they mean the prize drawings were for the progressives, or if that was in addition to it. So if they are drawing for the money, what happens if someone hits the jackpot on the machine? Or do they just put those machines out of order and award the cash by drawing? That's where I'm confused.

im a dummy, I just posted about this asking how it works before I saw this thread. it says the drawing is at 10pm on the 25th.I'm wondering if it's worth stopping in or not as I'll be in town.
So does that mean they shut down the progressives and give out the cash? or does someone still have a chance at hitting it on a machine until they draw for it? I've never been around when a casino has been closing so this is new to me.

If you have a ticket(s) then yes you should stop in, you have to be present to win. If you don't have any tickets then don't bother. Once they give away the jackpots on the 25th the progressive machines will no longer be in operation.

and the tickets are earned from winning $100 or more, or hitting a bonus round on a bet of .09 or more, right? So basically you have to play to earn your tickets, then be present for the drawing. So I could stop in on the 25th to earn tickets and wait around for the drawing?

I am sure they will shut down those machines at some point. Today, tomorrow or just before the drawing. They are not going to give away the jackpot and the drawing cash - LOL!

I seem to remember the Riviera doing the same thing on their last weekend. You had to get X number of points on your slot card for their drawings, and they pulled names a few times a day for the money. You had to be present to win, or they moved on to the next name on the list.

Yes that's it, earn tickets before the cut off date and then be there for the drawing.

I wasn't clear on my question. Anyone know when the actual casinos are closing?
