Curious to hear what email offers people here receives for Total Rewards membership? I'm pretty new and only started in March 2016, going to my local Indian Harrah's in San Diego. I'm gold tier but noticed that Harrah's is generous with their offers. For April and May 2016, my email offers consisted of 1 free buffet (Mon-Thurs) and $10 free play per month. Then beginning in June 2016, my email offers got bumped up to 1 free buffet (Mon-Thurs) and $10 free play per week (no longer per month). Total Rewards has set the hook in me getting to go this past Tuesday. Normally, I'm a once per month visitor to my local Indian casinos (in Los Angeles we have about 15 Indian casinos within a 2 hours drive) but now with the free weekly offers from Harrah's I'm intending to make another 1 or 2 more visits in June to Harrah's to take advantage of my offers. I wish I had gone to them sooner.

You are going to make frequent trips from the LA area to Harrahs SoCal for $10 in freeplay and a buffet?

You know...I signed on w/TR in March.
I got one piece of snail mail with a free room offer* in April, but have received nothing since.

    * - yep, taking them up on that offer this weekend.

I stayed one night at Harrah's in Vegas and now have weeknight comp offers for all Caesars properties except Caesars and Cromwell. It also seems like I can stay at Rio for free pretty much whenever except for busy holiday weekends. I stayed at Mirage and gave them much more play on my last trip and haven't gotten any offers from MLife.

Offers are based on a wide range of factors. New visits tend to get better teaser offers. We have seen offers from Horseshoe in Tunica that range from $500 FP to $5 freeplay. The changes were based on our frequency and amount of play.

Once you are established, they track your play and place a value on you. Offers reflect that value.

Indeed, I'm taking the bait and going to indulge in the free buffet ($27.99 value for dinner) as often as possible (lol). I'm a very low-roller and none of the other 15 or so Indian casinos provided me with free buffets at my low level of play. A free buffet is huge for me, I love it.

Fair enough, just keep in mind that if they see that you are showing up just to cash in your offers without playing, those offers will disappear in a hurry.

The point is that if you give them a little play everytime you go for the buffet (enough to keep the offers coming), you'll lose more in the long run than the buffet would cost.

I must have done better than I thought. They keep offering me 5 nights(Mon-Sun) and $200 in either free play, or casino chips. I'm taking them up on it next trip.

I just got my July offers and the free buffets have stopped. I'm not going to bitch and whine threatening to stop going. On the contrary I am very appreciative for the free buffets that I got. It was certainly good while it lasted. I kept my play at the same level and even bumped up my play a little to try to keep the free buffets coming but to no avail. I still have 2 free buffets for the last 2 weeks in June and I'm going to make sure I get at least one more free buffet. Those offers can get cut off as fast as they get put out. Maybe I'll get more in subsequent months. It remains to be seen. I'll post if they give me more but I doubt I'll get more with my low level of play.

Caesars is what I would call 'willy nilly' with their offers. They can vary somewhat dramatically month to month totally independent of play. I consistently play the same amount each trip and my free play ranges from $175-$375 plus 5 nights.
$375, they get my play..when it starts dropping into the mid-200's, then I take the opportunity to stay at some other places just to keep back-ups as an option.
I think Total Rewards adjusts more based on busy weekends, expected hotel occupancy etc. It's smart on their part. If they're going to be busy anyways, why offer me as much free play to get me in the door.

From a marketing perspective, there are several different "campaigns" a player can be dropped into by a casino. As @BCMike mentioned, sometimes if his offers dip, he'll start playing somewhere else until the offers bounce back. The sophisticated casinos have programs that will see that a player like @BCMike's frequency is dropping from the normal and they will increase the reinvestment rate to win him back. This can be called a "Decliners" campaign, meaning the play is declining either due to competition or changing habits and they try to jumpstart it to previous levels.
Same principle goes for new players, teaser offers as @nostresshere mentioned - they will reinvest in the offers at a higher rate to encourage the new players to form a habit of visiting the casino, then will drop the reinvestment rate back down to normal levels.
For @surf87 's offers switching from monthly to weekly, that could be that the casino reclassified his zip code from a "regional" to a "local" market or they are just testing a new campaign to drive frequency. Many major casinos will have National, Regional, and local marketing campaigns. For Las Vegas, Los Angeles would be considered a regional market, because people can easily get in the car and drive out once a month or more, whereas the national market would be someone that has to fly in and will only likely visit once per season.
The offers the casinos send out will reflect that distance - locals will get offers for $10 per week or even twice per week ($10 Sun-Tues, $10 Wed-Thurs, $5 Fri-Sat). Regional will get a monthly offer or two offers within a month. National offers will have a much bigger amount and a redemption window of 3 months or more.
Sending less frequent offers to regional and national customers used to be a financial requirement (if it cost $1+ per mailer delivered, and the redemption rate was a fraction of a percent, then it didn't make financial sense to send frequent mailers to national audiences unless the player was at the very high end), but now they are able to market much more frequently via online channels..
Anyway - sounds like switching to the weekly offers were the right thing to do for you. Enjoy!

I've noticed this as well. One month I'll get the 5 nights/$200 offer, and the next month I'll get free tickets plus room. Yeah, just give me the money. I haven't been to a concert in a LONG time, and most of the time I don't think I'd like who they're offering.
