LOL, love his quotes on the "nightclub crowd" and Millennials in general.

Wow, those are some interesting statements he made. I can easily imagine him thinking those thoughts as a businessman but saying them out loud takes on a whole new meaning.

"Wynn said he was “not a big fan” of Facebook or Twitter and that young people likely spend more “dim-witted time” on the social media platforms than they’re worth. He admitted a bit lightheartedly, however, that he was “one of those old white guys” who thinks Millennials are “sort of short on brains.”

“But in the meantime, we’re doing well with them. We put the little darlings in the nightclubs,” Wynn said. “It’s probably the only part of the business where I have cognitive dissonance. I walk into the clubs and I say to myself, either we have attracted every moron in the world, or there’s something about the sound that allows normal people to check their human sensibilities at the door.”

He doesn't like them at all. And that's one of the things that bugs me about him and his operation. I'm sure that the Murrens and Lovemans of the world see their customers as a profit center, but the open contempt on the part of Wynn is disturbing. It's one thing to not want to hang out with your customers in your free time; it's another thing to openly find them contemptible. And all the Roger Thomas design expertise in the world won't help you if you keep going on record hating your patrons.

I'd say his evaluation of his customers is right on the money.

Are these not the same sentiments that every generation has said about the following ones, especially in regards to musical tastes?

    Jazz, rock, rap, techno, etc.

Pretty much every twenty years or so there's a certain genre that becomes very popular in the mainstream, and prior generations inevitably complain that's it's, 'Just noise' or something similar.

Heck, you could say this about pretty much all art, except that maybe takes a little longer for some artistic preferences to change (it may be faster these days, but go to any museum with a few hundred years' worth of art, and you'll see how much fashions and tastes change).

What I'm saying is that anyone who readily dismisses any currently popular art form is often revealing themselves as an old fart of the highest order.

Wynn came up in this town with guys like Sinatra being the pinnacle of non gaming entertainment. I 100% understand where he is coming from even if it's not smart to say it out loud.

A member of one generation not understanding members of another generation. That's never happened before. Stunning. :)

Booze, drugs, slammin' hot girls that you might get to enjoy a tryst with?

The myth of the clubs and why people go there.

Industrial Rock that goes perfectly with your X high?

Maybe seeing some shaved head minor celebrity and his muscle head entourage?

Seeing an entire boat load of babes wearing eff me outfits that you can put in the spank bank for later?

What's not for a 25 year old to love?

When I, hopefully, become an old man, I will get to say things that only an old curmudgeon would say. You earn that right when you've lived a long life. But I will never accomplish even 1/10 as much as Steve Wynn has.

Don't knock your accomplishments. Steve may have grandiose hotels around the globe, but none of that really matters when you're being carried by 6. Unless you're posting from a Supermax for your handiwork with a hatchet, I'm sure you have plenty to be proud of, whether it be as a husband/father/brother/son etc.

Our materialistic society puts too much emphasis on the monetary elite. Family values baby.

From what i remember, Wynn's whole passion is building the hotels. He liked Casinos because they allowed him to build incredible hotels. I think he looks at all this other stuff as a necessity but doesn't necessarily like the crowd that it brings. At his age, i'd say screw it too. I appreciate the honesty.

My very first thought after reading his comments was good for him. It is refreshing to hear someone, especially in business with a vested interest in the consequences of his/her comments, to say what is on their mind and not pander to what the PC crowd thinks he should say in order to be sensitive. As to weather his comments are spot on or way off the mark makes no difference to me. I'd bet that there are a lot of casino execs that generally feel the same way but really can't vocalize it like Steve did because the corporations they work for would hold them accountable, and understandably so. Steve is basically his own boss and said what was on his mind; no problem in my book.

Obviously Wynn has been very successful. I don't expect a 74 year old to "get" or understand what 21-30 year olds like. But when he calls his club customers "morons" he comes off more as a bitter old man than "refreshing".

If you go into a restaurant and see a table of four people not talking, just playing with their phones, isn't that moronic? When someone spends an hour or two per day on Facebook instead of enjoying life, isn't that moronic? Let's call a spade a spade.

In his words. "I walk into the clubs and I say to myself, either we have attracted every moron in the world, or there’s something about the sound that allows normal people to check their human sensibilities at the door.” The reason I Gamble in Vegas is very similar. There’s something about VEGAS that allows normal people to check their human sensibilities at the door.

I wouldn't say bitter at all. He thinks they are morons, but is perfectly happy that they are morons because it is making him absurd amounts of money.
