Apologies if this is a dumb question, but is it possible to pay a fee to bump up your status on a card? IE paying to jump from gold to platinum. Or is it all just about play?
Technically yes, $1 purchase on restaurants, hotel, show tickets etc equals 25 TCs. So going on a spending spree can advance tiers. However, only gambling gets you comps.
To confirm the last poster - even getting to Plat does not mean more comps/offers. Comps and offers are based on average play, and not on tier.
To clarify, kolmeseiska is talking about MGM re: 25 TC per dollar spent. You also earn TC for resort spend at CET props, but it's much less, 1 TC per dollar spent. Not sure which you were asking about since you mentioned "gold to platinum" which is the progression for both programs.
If you are staying at one of the hotels within a brand, link your players card to your room, then charge stuff to your room. If you aren't staying within the brand, you can show your players card when paying and say I would like the points please, or you can take your receipts to the players card booth and they will add the tier points. Also if you are looking at CET, Founders Card gets you Diamond.
Is there a way you can have multiple people use one account on the same trip. I.E. me and a bunch of friends all spending our own money but the points going towards one card/account?
When using slot machines, it has no idea who is actually playing. Get multiple copies of your card and have your friends insert into machines when playing. Not so easy at tables, but can be done. Of course, that means YOU get points and offers, and your friends will not.
Yeah it'd be more for purchases as opposed to gambling. And yeah that's the point as they don't have much desire to make Vegas a regular thing like I do. How do you get multiple copies?
Go to the players club to get a card printed, when they ask how many copies you'd like, say a number that's greater than one.
Of course, if the card has YOUR name on it, and the credit card has THEIR name on it... well..... Also, those points have zero impact on offers. Only gambling impacts offers.
Yeah I know offers/comps are all based on rate/play. It would just be to help get the extra perks that come with higher tiers.
