Seeing the thread about the Riviera implosion made me think how I regretted never visiting that casino. I only have one regret about Vegas and that is not seeing a few of those old casinos that were flattened. I guess I didn't have the appreciation for Vegas that I have now - I know since I started going to Vegas in '97 many of the classic places have had their goodbye without me ever stepping foot into them...

So do you have any Vegas regrets?

that's why i tell people , see as much as you can or want while you can, because as the song goes....
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
    'Till it's gone
    They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

I agree with both of you. I am full of Vegas regrets. I started going to Vegas when I was 49 years old. Prior to that I set my priorities to my family and work. Now the kids are grown I am only now enjoying the fun of going to Vegas. Been going about 10 years now.

I've heard stories from my friends and family of the "Old" Vegas; especially the Stardust, Riviera, Lady Luck, among others. I wish I visited these places back then.

Regrets but I still would have done the same thing if I could do it all over again. Vegas will always be there.

    But still.....

My biggest Vegas regret is that I didn't discover how awesome it was when Dan was still living in Victorville. All those weekends visiting him and we could have spent them in Vegas instead of at the mall or the Roy Rogers Museum. ;)

One regret I can think of is not going to the Riviera's 'yard sale' thing they had going on after it shut down. They basically put a price tag on everything and you could go in and go anywhere you wanted in the place. Everything was for sale. I was in Vegas for 6 days during this time and we kept saying we would go but just never ended up doing it. The last day we were there someone ended up jumping off the roof and following this they restricted where people could go. I just think it would have been cool to check the place out in this state.

We did the one at El Rancho. It was a spectacle. I mostly just wanted to see the inside of the place, but we bought a few little things.

Do you think Caesars Palace will ever shut down and have a yard sale? Yeah right, lol! but wouldn't it be neat to go to THAT yard sale?

I wish I could have seen the old Downtown before they put up the canopy. The big neon moving signs just seem really cool to me. The first time I went, the signs were still there, but because of the canopy they didn't move. Plus the general lighting made them less impressive.

What I regret...maybe regret isn't the right word, though ... is that there's a gap from '80 to '06 with no Vegas trips. We vacay'd all over the place, magnificent trips, but it just never occurred to us to try Vegas.

I wish I had pictures from my first trip (but I really didn't think it would be a big deal). Also I wish I'd gotten to go to Commander's Palace. By the time my sister got me a gc to go, they'd closed.

My regret is not shooting very many photos between the late 70s and the early 90s.

    My first trip -
    The Sands was still open.........barely.
I believe the "termination date" was already set
I walked in + bought a pair of Sands Dice at the gift shop.....breezed in + out.
Still have the dice, somewhere ?
I didn't know much of the history about the place, back then ---
    had I ?.....
I would have hung out in every corner of the place for hours.
And of course, I didn't take ANY photos !!!!!!!!

My biggest regret is getting hooked on Vegas at age 21 lol. But seriously other than pissing away my house down payment on the last few trips, I do not know if I have any regrets.

Not much for regrets. You can't change the past no matter how much you'd like, but......... I would like to have seen LV in the 60s, 70s and 80s for the history. I also wish I would have kept a simple trip journal to reflect on. My only other regret would be not hitting Megabucks once every trip!

    Good Luck!

I wasn't old enough to be in the casino as we stopped by on our out west trip. I was nineteen and said my ID was in the car as the waitress brought me and my three friends drinks since we were playing nickel slots. I was thrilled to win 60 cents on a nickel, lol. I remember seeing Buddy Hackett's name on a casino marquee.
