LVA is reporting that Vinnie Favorito opens at Hooters on 6/16. They guy had some personal/financial issues while at the Flamingo but I thought he was pretty damn funny. And very offensive FYI :)

Not to be a snot but I would consider moving from Flamingo, right dead center in the heart of the Strip, to Hooters, a tacky off the Strip place, to be a major demotion! :(

I remember when the opening of Hooters got a lot of pub, but I never see anything on VMB about it one way or the other.
Does the VMB crowd not go there?

I commented once on terrible customer service at Hooters. I was mildly concerned about getting flamed as a result. Instead, my story was supplemented by the tales of others who didn't enjoy their time at Hooters, either. This led me to believe that my experience wasn't an outlier, and that savvy Vegas goers in the know agreed with me that Hooters isn't a great option.

We saw Bobby Slayton at Hooters a few years ago. It was a great time. Their showroom is nice. We sat in the front row and about half way through the show Bobby started to pick on us and ask us if we're Mormons or something because we didn't have drinks. We told him we were thirsty but no one had come over to our table to take our drink order. Slayton took care of that and paid for our drinks. After the show we went to the VP bar at Hooter's but they were up our butts about how much we were going to bet and our play to get a comped plastic cup of beer. We told them straight up we leaving and going to Bellagio where we won't get hassled over much nicer comped drinks with a much nicer ambiance. Hopefully, Hooters is more about having fun these days.

Vinnie was at Binion's years ago and we didn't go see him because I thought $30 a ticket was too much for a downtown guy I never heard of. We saw Vinnie a few years later at O'Shea's before he moved to the Flamingo. We sat in the front row and Vinnie ate about a 1/4 pound of M&M's of mine and said he'd pay me back. I don't think I'll see my M&M's again.

Saw Vinnie twice. Was great both times. Don't know if I would venture to Hooters to see him. But I would recommend if you're there any way. As mentioned... he is quite un-PC. Be warned. Have fun.

This might help explain that. If I ran a casino, I would be hesitant to bring him on.

As for Hooters generally, the place is run down for sure, and I have heard bad things about the hotel. But for some reason, I don't mind the place. Decent bartops maybe? My last Vegas trip went there for a coupon run and Hooters and Mirage were the only places I noticed the "Family Guy" slot that I enjoy.

Saw Vinnie at O'Shea's once on comped tickets from a timeshare deal we got suckered into. I think it was our first Vegas trip and we ended up spending a half day involved with those sharks. But, at least we got to see Vinnie free as well as some other free stuff. Both my wife and I got "picked on" during the show. Thinking back, O'Sheas was not a great venue. Had to take an elevator up to anout the 3rd floor and the room probably held 500 people.

He went from Flamingo to the Tommy Wind theater and now to Hooters. As I said initially and as the RJ article linked above explains, he has had some issues and I agree, I would be wary of hiring the guy. But if you're looking for some funny raunchy comedy and the price is right (I haven't seen any prices) then he's an option. As far as Hooters being a dump, it is. But it's a comedy show, you just need a room with some chairs, it's not a Cirque show :) The room he was in at the Flamingo was small and cramped.

I got paired up with Vinnie at Rio Secco a few years back for a round and had a blast. I won his putter betting him on the 18th hole! I don't think his personality is much different on or off stage. Shortly after that round, I started reading about the trouble he was into.

I think people would be more likely to go see him at Hooters than Tommy Wind theater.
I have seen him 4 or 5 times. Always enjoy him.

I checked out the place very briefly when it opened as Hooters, just walked over there from the Trop. Even when supposedly new it looked threadbare. No reason to go back.
