Also note this was at 6:30am and away from the Fremont St. Experience. I wasn't even that thrilled to walk to DTG at 9pm when I visited it. I think we walked down a block few people typically did.

Don't make this incident steer you away from Downtown. This can happen anywhere. Tragic as it is we can't let things like this rule our lives.

I can finish writing this, go out and get hit by a bus. We live our lives and hope for the best for ourselves and our friends and family. That's all we can do.

Right outside the Downtown Grand. There was also a shooting in the Fashion Show Mall car park and the reporting suggests that was an altercation that escalated.

There was also a shooting outside of Bally's / Paris -- if someone is motivated enough, they'll shoot regardless of where you are

I'll still go to Vegas, but it appears to be much more dangerous than 15-20 years ago. Sounds like the police presence needs to increase on the Strip.

I see one of the suspects is 6' 10" and 180 lbs... looks like UNLV's new recruiting class would be a logical place to start. They have a history of bringing in a "fringe element".

When it comes to Vegas I wish I could turn back the clock when we go there. Like about 50 years or so.

Why? It was a misguided last sentence. The reality is the frequency of incidents like this happening is much higher. And that's based on the ones that make it into the news as there is a tendency to keep them quiet.

Misguided last sentence? Umm, how exactly? Here is the sentence again:

Not that this couldn't happen on the strip but the place is too dodgy for me.

I acknowledged that this could happen on the strip as well and that downtown is too dodgy for me. I also stated that it was a good reminder for me to stay away from downtown. While English is not my first language, that sentence as far as I understand comes with an information that I've already made my mind about not going to back to downtown anyway.

I wasn't trying to affect anyone's decisions on going there, I simply posted the link and stated my opinion on it. I didn't realize that I'm not allowed to do that, from now on, I'll leave the downtown threads to you who find the place flawless.
