    Hi All,

I always want to make sure my tips are never chintzy, as I know how hard everyone works in Vegas, and they have to deal with a lot of people who aren't always nice.

When in Vegas, I mainly play slots, and will camp out an embarrassing amount of time in the casino. I always tip a dollar a drink, and am low maintenance on what I order---I stick with red wine (an easy pour) and sometimes a diet coke or H2o on the side.

I always tip a dollar per drink, not per trip (e.g. if I get a wine and a water, that's $2), and if the same waitress, I'll tip an extra dollar or two every few drinks, or give them an extra $5 or $10 at the end of the night, on top of my dollar per drink, and of course, am always very, very nice.

I always get super fast service and some of the waitresses know me by name (not sure if that's good or bad ;) ) but is a dollar a drink (plus extra when playing longer with the same waitress/waiter) still an ok amount? I'd say with the extra tips, I probably average $1.50 per drink during a longer session, and I just want to make sure that's an ok amount.

Sounds on par with what I do, except I give that $5 up front so they come back to me first every time. Goes a long ways when they know you will take care of them every trip after that too

You answered your own question. You always get super fast service and the waitresses remember you.

A dollar per drink is pretty standard and you wont get any complaints. I agree with vegasdave, if I get quick service the first time it will be 5 bucks, then a dollar each time after that. But again, just tipping a dollar will be just fine.

I tip $1 per drink, also not per trip, in case I get a water and a drink. I'm pretty easy in terms of drinks but on the first order I ask what beers they have, so it's a little extra work for the CW. In that case I give an extra buck or so. I think the idea of an initial $5 is good.

$1 tip is pretty standard. I'll tip a few dollars more if I'm doing well.
If it's something I know they have to prepare themselves (hot chocolate..etc), I'll tip $5.
There is a rare occasion when I'll tip $25, usually I'm up big.
There are a few CWs that I'm fairly friendly with, they'll usually get $5 every time.

I have one buddy that tips WAY bigger. That is just the way he is. We get great service when he is around!

I tip $2 each time and my "drinks" are ginger ale or water.

The servers at MaBay in the early morning are super nice and come around frequently.

    I did this...once.
Due to my color-blindness, I inadvertently tipped a Gold Coast CW $25... (their $1 chips are awfully close in appearance to their $25s).

Needless to say, I received outstanding cocktail service for the rest of the day.

Here's a pic of Gold Coast Chips ($1s, $5s & $25s)... anyone who has red/green color-blindness will confirm for me that the $1s & $25s look very similar in color!

I've been to Vegas many times but not in the last 4 years. Just wondering what the latest is on how much to tip your waitress when she brings you a drink while gambling. I always pay up front so any advice is greatly appreciated. T minus 4 Days, 9 days in Las Vegas!! :)

A buck is still fine, if you want to go higher they'll take it.

Me too. Getting a bunch of $2 bills for the CWs and valets is a pre-trip tradition.

I'm sure the CWs are happy to be getting $2 per drink, but do you think after several of them, they ever wonder "why does this weirdo have so many two dollar bills?" Have any of them ever asked about it?

Never a second look or comment, nothing. I use the $2 bill for the first few drinks and then switch to the $1 coins.

I kind of like the $2 bill idea, I think I'll modify it and give them 50 cent pieces.

Have a feeling the half dollar will be less memorable to them. But then again, it's rare enough where they may not know what it's actually worth. Lol

As for the original question, depends on where I'm at and how long I'll be there. But I'll often open for $2 and follow up with $1 each if I plan to get at least a few in the same spot. I'm often just getting beers at the bar, so I'm not creating tons of work for them.

LOL - I've been hanging at the Mirage for quite a few years and in most sections where I play, as soon as one of the regular CW's walks by and notices me, on her next trip through, here comes my Ginger Ale and bottle of water - wait, I didn't even tell her what I wanted....in the wee hours of the morning they bring me green tea - yep, that could be a sign....
Since DH and I play together quite a bit, we start out with $5 on the first round and then $2 after that. Our two favorites who always look us up for a little chat get a $20 each trip just because we look forward to seeing them again and appreciate their sweet personalities (both are real cuties, and DH says they remind him of our daughters, that always elicits a hug from them to me (not him - haha) - makes for a nice overall experience while gambling - good karma all around.
