    My Trip Report

So I attempted a live trip report in November, and realized how much effort goes into that, that I've decided to do semi-live for this trip.

    I'll start with this....

TSA agents get really excited/angry when you slow down the process because you accidentally leave a loaded pistol magazine in your carry-on.

Let me back up a few weeks to a the time I drove to a conference in a less than desirable city and I felt it was better to be safe than sorry. Being that 9 rounds wasn't enough (according to my husband), I took a spare magazine (loaded, of course). Just to be safe, right? I had packed it in my small bag that I always fly with and simply missed it when unpacking from the trip.

Fast forward to today, and I was all packed and ready to get my Vegas on, and never even thought about the magazine still being in my carry-on. Well, TSA thought about it being in my bag. I got a talking to while the least happy agent in the airport searched my bag. Overall, they were nice about it and allowed me to take it back to the car - then, go through the checkpoint again. As I was escorted out of the security area by a very friendly agent, he told me I was the 3rd in 40 minutes!

We boarded our flight without further incident and were lucky enough to snag the 2 seater exit row. Leg room is the same as standard rows on Southwest flights, but I don't have to share an armrest with a stranger.

In-flight WiFi was on the Fritz for the first hour of the flight, but our pilot - who as a really thick accents and is impossible to understand - was nice enough to call whoever he's required to call for approval to reboot & got it fixed rather quickly.

Oh, on a side note, ReCON 2016 is this week and every realtor from the state of Alabama is going - and they're all on this flight. Apparently it's the biggest real estate conference in the nation. They take up a solid 75% of the seats, with 20% being geeks headed out for Citrix Synergy, also in Vegas this week. The remaining 5% (including me) are stuck listening to real estate business and computer speak.

Overall, despite my snafu, the trip has started off great. I'm just ready to set foot in the desert!

On a positive note, we do have a nice view of the red carpet from our room at NYNY. Tonight is the Billboard Music Awards at the T-mobile arena. We're staying inside as I really don't care for celebrities much.

We took a quick stroll around the new Park, but we're starving after the flight and getting settled in the room

Then we ate at Slice of Vegas at MB. I don't have a picture to post because my battery was too low, but we always enjoy the food there, so we stop every time were in Vegas.

After food, it was time to hit the casino floor which can be seen from the previous post.

Next up, Tom's Urban... I'll post pictures soon.

Dinner at Tom's Urban was good. We started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which I definitely recommend.

Hubs was full from lunch, but still managed to eat half his pizza...

And all of his pop tart. Apple was today's offering.

For my meal, I decided on the Figgy Piggy. It's a grilled cheese with four kinds of cheese, fig jam, and Applewood smoked bacon. It came with either garlic fries or sweet potato fries. Hubs said he would eat some of the fries, so I got them, then he decided he didn't want any. If I had known he wasn't going to eat any, I would have gotten sweet potato fries. Oh well, the garlic fries were good.

Oh, and the Figgy Piggy... Amazing. It was great.

We decided to check out the Park after dinner and before the Billboard Music Awards were over and the crowds left the arena. It's really nice and the weather was perfect.

I feel sorry for the guys that are having to break down all the red carpet stuff... That's a lot of work.

Being that I'm old, and still in the negative for gambling, it's bedtime. Back at it tomorrow with more food porn & hopefully more slot porn also!

Nice report, rcc4au! Love the pictures!

I'm currently planning a trip for later this year and already looking into possible places to go and eat (to make the waiting a little more bearable, urgh). And the Park and Tom's Urban are also on my list, so it is nice to have a (p)review. Thanks!

Hope you have a fantastic trip and keep the pictures coming!

Thanks for the report so far. You're doing a wonderful job at "semi-live".

Breakfast this morning is/was at Il Fornaio at NYNY. My husband loves the Waffle Alla Frutta, so it's a definite stop each trip. I got their version of Eggs Benedict, and it was delicious as always.

I would post pictures, but we were both starving, and I completely forgot.

Also, if you're staying at NYNY, let them know (and show your room key), and breakfast is 2-for-1. Not a bad deal.

One of my biggest fears is having ammo or a loaded mag in my backpack that I miss before flying. Now I have a backpack that I only use for flying to Vegas. Nice that they let you take it back to the car instead of keeping it.

Good report so far, those sprouts do look great. Your snafu had me looking up the regs on empty vs loaded magazines, and apparently even empty ones can only go on checked bags, so you couldn't even just empty the magazine and surrender the ammo only. Glad you had time to run to the car, mags are expensive!
What's funny is I have an old trigger on my key ring and they haven't given me trouble with it, but I guess it looks like a bottle opener to most.

I generally forget taking food pics. When it's in front of me I want to eat it. Lol

Good start so far! Hope you find many big wins to go with those food pics!

I had two nights comped, but we'll be moving to Palazzo tonight for a conference. I'll be back to NYNY to gamble the rest of the week. It's like home away from home for us.

I did notice that many people don't post pics of themselves on here. I'm not much of a selfie taker, so there will be very few pictures of me.

We stopped off at Red Rock Casino to use the myVegas Feast Buffet for 2 reward. It was okay. The desserts were probably the best I've had on a buffet out here.

I didn't eat a lot because after spending time in the sun, I wasn't super hungry. Plus, we had early dinner reservations at NFI to use the $25 dining credit and BOGO Entree (just $35 comp).

Getting dinner started with a Drunken Peach... And because I had very little to eat, and decided to partake prior to my dinner arriving, I'm well on my way to being a Drunken peach myself!

We picked up my husband's coworker and have been taking him on the fast and furious tour of Vegas before dinner, then BMG (free with room reservation from that link that's floating around) after.
