every time I've tried to get any backend comps, it's always only 10% of theo..what gives???
and I'm doing the math correctly, as I've always known my exact theo even before asking the host, on checkout...
do I have to PUSH them to get 30% in backend soft-comps??

If you're staying on a room comp you have to cover the room first. It's not always the rack rate for the room but they do assign some value internally to rooms for comp purposes.

    true..
    let me break it down:
Harveys "website" room price for Saturday night 5/14 = $107 (Plus $23.99 for resort fee, and $16 for tax)
We played and earned $439 in Theo on Saturday. (1200 TC) Actual loss of $500.
    We had $26 in RC.
they took the $26 in RC, and "comped off $44" worth of the $146 total charged to my credit card.
I KNOW USUALLY the "backend" cost of a hotel room is LESS than the advertised price...
but in our case, they not ONLY charged us full price for the room, they only comped $44, with us earning $439 in theo on saturday.
So we SHOULD have gotten back 30% of $439 ($131 PLUS our "earned" reward credits), which would have covered the room AT FULL PRICE...
I'm thinking we either have caught stingy hosts, or there is a note on our account, to only give bare minimum.

Not a CET person, so not familiar with their policy.
In general, unless you have a good relationship with a nice host, you won't get 30%, not even 25%.

Is it possible their internal rate for a comp room is higher than what is seen on the website? Maybe that could be the case on a day where occupancy is below expectation and they need rooms sold. But yeah I would have assume at worst your room and resort fee would have been taken care of for one night at a min.

I've also run into a weird situation where they could only comp whole items and couldn't partially apply credit. Can't remember which casino this was though. Was probably an MGM owned property and it's been a few years since that.

I think that 30% is the max, and based on your play history. If they think that you're a "hit and runner", or that your 1200TC day was an anomaly, they'd be less likely to give you backend comps.

I also think that not having a "regular" host could hurt you. I am assuming that the "duty host" was the one that gave you 10%?

One of my hosts got upset when I mentioned about being "undercomped", another host was glad to acknowledge and make up for it.

I was thinking thinking all of those things..
1.) Just a "on duty" host.
    2.) a few trips of low/no play
3.) a BIG freeplay suck out in 2014

I can't figure out a reason from the numbers you posted, but it definitely would be no problem for any casino to keep a running lifetime balance on your comps earned vs comps given, and obviously under the right circumstances that balance could tip over into the negative side but they could conceivably keep sending you offers with the expectation that you would tip it back the other way.

I know that MGM props do look at overall profitability when determining backend comps. So, if you had won over time and had used comps as well, they would be less likely to grant much in backend comps.

I was granted a very significant comp a little while back and it was borderline approved by upper management. My host said my overall profitability was not enough in the computer to grant the comp without approval. It did get approved because I was at least profitable, even if marginally. I would rather not be profitable, but I was coming off a big loss that tilted my winnings to an overall loss.

There are so many variables, however, that no one answer will apply to everyone. Just know that profitability can be factored in to backend comps.

Casinos are funny creatures. They provide games that give them an advantage over players and then want to penalize the players who win more than "average"...we're not talking about AP players, just ones on the lucky end of the dice or spin... Them even giving anyone that answer is such a hunk of bull crap...I would laugh in their face if they told me that.

On this trip? Slots/keno on the unit? Terrible other VP?

It's generally BS, but it's definitely a defense mechanism on their part.

I have to admit that I don't really understand the concept of backend comps. I think most host comp interactions are set up in advance, even if the charges are taken off at the backend. That's really the whole reason to get a host, to negotiate your comps in advance.

    edit:
To update this...apparently that host didn't know how to speak too well..
For a $146 original charge (Room, Resort Fee, Tax), my CC got hit for $50.
So, in the end my total "comps" were $96..

OT, but have you stayed at harrahs as well in Tahoe? Which do you prefer of the two CET props there?

Are you not generating comp offers for your level of play? That surprises me. The Vegas casinos are are giving out rooms like candy. I just used a free room offer that was generated on 1k coin in. Yah, it's probably a teaser, but your play should be generating something better than Joe Shmoe can get on a the casino's website.

nope..it's actually only $10 cheaper...I know we're in the system as "winners", so I have a different plan of attack.

The amount you win should have no bearing on the offers you receive. You had an "incident" last year (or the year before) with FP. I would guess that somewhere in your tracking record that is reflecting on your record.
