Starting in June. No details. Locals supposedly notified. From inside source.

They can't have the infrastructure in place for paid self parking by June. They could do valet. And I don't know how they could notify locals in a way that we couldn't get access to.

i know it'll never happen, but it would be nice if the hotels validated parking for the people who are staying at the hotel.

In AC you pay for parking but you get a free parking voucher if you earned 75 tier credits on the day you leave. Would be nice if Vegas did the same thing.

    Rumors, rumors, rumors.

As to validating, etc. Mlife is already supporting certain tier levels. I would expect anyone spending any kind of money will be covered.

If I recall..parking at Flamingo Parking Garage wasn't free (or maybe you had to be Platinum-above) when we parked there last year.

It's just a matter of time. Once MGM properties charge for parking on the strip, tourists will start to seek out CET properties for parking and walk to the strip, which will strain their capacity for their own guests to park at their garages. They will need to charge for parking as well, to keep this from happening. Whether it is June or not, it's probably coming within a year.

I feel like this whole paid parking thing has been pushed heavily by the taxi unions. With Uber/Lyft killing them, they are going after the people who typically rent cars as a new source of revenue. I think they hope they'll make the switch back to cabs instead of paying these parking fees every day.

I don't think that is true, I think MGM is greedy enough to think of this on their own. But this is only going to benefit Lyftber even more. People who used to rent cars will now just use Lyftber. A couple of rides a day might be the same as parking costs.

They had to do something so 15,000-20,000 people at any T Mobile event night wouldn't use the casinos as free parking.

I agree it's just a matter of time before everyone on the strip to charge parking fees. Those don't charge will get big trouble with congestion and lost revenue, then they have no choice but to follow.

Not really, you have to gamble or spend enough to get the validation. Or be above a certain tier level. Us commoners who hardly gamble but do put money in the machines won't get parking for free. We probably need to have a certain coin in (probably a few hundred) to get the tier points or else we will have to pay for parking.

Doesn't have to be that way. Downtown MSS (back when parking was free) used to charge for parking when there were special events. MGM could have done that during the T Mobile events but instead figured they could get more income from the people by charging for parking.

Some hotels (like the Cal and MSS) allow free parking for guests staying at their hotel. They only charge (and validation/pay) for others who want to park at their hotel. But I guess a number of guests who stay at MGM properties also rent/bring their cars and this is another way of tacking on extra fees for guests.

You are probably correct, those hotels that don't charge for parking will be inundated by people wanting to park on the strip for free so those hotels will have to do something to keep non players and non hotel guests from abusing parking privileges since their lots will eventually be filled up with people visiting other properties.

This won't affect me as much as I mostly stay downtown but it will limit me from going to the strip, I won't be visiting the strip every time I go to vegas and may only visit the strip if I have to go someplace. Either that or just drive up or down the strip to get my "strip fix" and not stop anywhere.

It will increase traffic on "the Deuce" Park downtown, take the bus to the strip.

I have never heard of that with any CET property in Vegas. Are you sure it was at the Flamingo?
