How have the TSA checkpoint lines been lately? Flying from DFW to LAS middle of next month. My mother does case management for TSA employees nationwide and has been telling me horror stories from "inside" saying how long the lines are and how they are way understaffed etc... But, she's been known to exaggerate a bit. So, has anyone been experiencing longer than usual wait times when getting to the airport? Wondering how early we should get there beyond the standard 90 minute rule.
Last we flew it was Feb and the lines were fine. TIA!

On our out going flight to Las Vegas from Hartford the lines were the longest I have ever seen in that airport, but fortunately a kind TSA agent sent us
through the precheck line. The opposite was true on our late afternoon return flight out of LAS, no lines at all for the C gates which is a first. It may
have had to do with the time since we arrived at check-in around 3PM.

I've been hearing stories in Vegas of lines being longer than normal. Give yourself extra time

It sounds like you are flying American which goes through Terminal 1, though I can't recall which gates. I've had longer than usually delays at security the past 2 trips through Terminal 3 for United. We probably circled that line for 30-45 minutes.

During a large travel day with a few conferences ending it wasn't bad for T1 earlier this month. They have a First/Business line, a Pre Check Line and regular lines. I got through about 5 minutes before my buddy did in the regular line. I think most of the problems are at airports with gaps in flights that are adding to the issue. LAS isn't that way....

I fly in and out of LAS at least 3 times a year every year, I've never had a very long wait. Usually through in 15 mins or less. I use the JetBlue terminal, whichever one that is.

It's bad. Midway has a central TSA access point and the line has been an hour long. They are understaffed while trying to do more thorough screenings and they were expecting more people to sign up for Pre-check. I do love that Washington has responded in correctly putting some of the blame on baggage fees, though.

It takes an hour to get through an line that long and that's exacerbated if they try to pull people ahead who will miss their flights to the front. Normally I can zip through MIdway's TSA in 10-15 minutes at a normal time.

It's been pretty bad at AUS lately. My husband and I signed up for Pre-Check this past Thursday and were thrilled to get our approval yesterday, just two days after processing. We can now add our KTN to our reservation to LAS next Monday and skip the long lines. With a Monday AM flight in particular it should come in handy.

Another 100 people and it could have matched the Flamingo check-in line on any given Friday.

I'm breaking down and paying for pre check for me and the Mrs. $85 for 5 years seems like quite a deal.

We bit the bullet while in Las Vegas. I figure 3 round trip flights per year x 5 years = $2.83 per flight.

I would rather stand in a long TSA line, than be subjected to the Flamingo.

That's what I did, and glad, it has been good so far. I did it about 2 months ago and got result back in 2 days. My wife applied over a week ago and still hasn't heard. Apparently, lots more people are signing up cause of the current waits and expected summer lines, so taking longer to get approved.

I flew out May 9 at 7am through A gate. The line was a bit longer and they seemed understaffed, but not really bad. I can't figure why people are scrambling to find their boarding pass and ID at the gate instead of having it in hand.

That's probably the same people that can't seem to understand "empty your pockets" and try to get through with bottles of water!

Those wanting pre check should consider global entry if you leave country. Sure is nice using the kiosk vs agents on way back in.

Do they still have the web site that gives the current wait time at major airports? (I guess I could Google it but I figure people here will know for sure.)

Lines have been longer than usual out of LAS especially T3, in my experience. The husband and I exchanged global entry for Christmas last year and it's been great. It's saved us loads of time, and it can make the difference in making a connection. We loved bypassing the long lines at customs, and heading straight for Pre-Check when traveling domestic. It worked beautifully until we flew to Austin via Frontier. They do not participate in the software that flags the boarding passes (neither does Spirit or Allegiant). We tried to show the agent our global entry cards, but she wasn't having it. Thankfully, I still allowed an hour before boarding otherwise we would've missed the flight. The lines zig-zagged like the most popular rides at Disney.
