I've been a lifelong passline player. Craps was so bad this trip that I switched to the dark side. Things improved slightly, but I no longer know what I'm doing. Does the same conventional wisdom apply to playing don't pass where I bet don't pass line with two don't come bets, all with max odds?

I'm basically looking to walk away somewhere close to breaking even. If I lose 20% while drinking free drinks, smoking cigars, and enjoying myself, I'm happy. After 7 days in Vegas and playing craps a few hours a day, I'm down about 90%. I've done better this trip playing Big Six - that ain't right.

I recently read if you want to be somewhat conservative, play the DP with odds if desired, then 2 DC bets with no odds. If the roller hits one of your DC numbers, you put up another DC.

The difference in the HA playing dark is miniscule, for me, it isn't worth the hassle if you like to put a good buzz on and you already have playing "right" down.

The only way playing dark is easier is that if you're at a 3x-4x-5x table, the max odds is always 6x your base bet.

If you're getting schmeissed at craps, consider cutting back on your odds bets. A lot, and I mean A LOT of players just hear "oh you have to play max odds" and they don't bankroll themselves properly to do that, they bust out and think what shitty luck, while 75% of the money they lost was in the odds bets. You want to play max odds on everything, your bankroll should be 4x what it would be otherwise.

Craps is the most fun gambling game but I admit many times I wish I never learned it

You could play the iron cross method. On the come out roll play pass line and the field that way every number is covered. When the point is established place bets on 5, 6, and 8 and the field then all numbers but 7 are covered. If 2 or 12 hit keep one chip and place remaining chips as odds. If 5, 6, or 8 hit you loose the field bet but get paid $7 so use $5 to replace the field bet and keep the $2 for yourself.

The don't is much more fun to me. I f you learn it. It takes more concentration, but the payoffs are bigger when you win. If you make the come out roll and get a number up the odds shift to your side. On a don't come bet you win on a 3 or 2, 12 is a push. So the only way you can lose is if your point is rolled. If you have a 4 or 10 up the odds are 2 to 1 in your favor. But you have to "Lay" those odds up two to one. That takes more guts, but as they say, "No Guts, No Glory !"

It also kills you when those numbers hit repeatedly as you watch your bankroll vanish. But, I can say I win more on the don't. Either way I'm having fun. Isn't that what it's all about?

When you have a bundle riding then that 7 hits, Baby's got a new pair of shoes!

You mean 2 not 11 wins, making sure thats clear for those who don't understand the game well.

The thing I like about playing dark side is the fact that once you establish your point ('s) if a 7 rolls you win, if the point number rolls you lose only that one bet. When playing the pass line bet once you load up on points a 7 just kills you, you lose it all, I can't count the times when I have gotten loaded up on 4+ numbers with odds and got nailed by a 7. It just seems to make my bank roll last longer playing the dark side.

I made a ton of money in March playing Don't with some don't come bets and a few field bets mixed in. Not a+ strategy but we are doing this for fun, not for our retirement accounts lol

Fixed that my bad. 2 or 3 wins on the don't come or don't pass (dp on the come out roll).
Some like to hedge a hard way bet to counter the possibility of your number hitting. I do that occasionally on a 6 or 8 as they come up more often than a 4 or 10, or 5 or 9 respectively.

I often YO Eleven, and I hit! I did that in Tahoe at Caesar's with a $2 bill and made $30 bucks. Yahoo! (on a YO the casino edge is high, but...so was I )!

I then turned that $30 into $200.. or close to it. Doesn't happen very often, but imagine if I put down a twenty...?
