Hello, I was just wondering about how loud the volcano at the mirage is? Also, is there a section I could request that would be less likely to hear the noise from it? (I don't care about the view, but I am prone to migraines, and need somewhere quiet if I am unfortunate enough to get a migraine during my trip.) Thanks for any advice! Any other suggestions regarding the Mirage are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you are staying at The Mirage, the volcano isn't really that loud in the rooms. The south facing side of the building shouldn't have any issue with volcano noise but, the club music from Caesar's Palace could be even more disturbing if you are recovering from a migraine. So, I would opt for the north facing side and hope for the best. You're going to get the normal street noise from The Strip anyway, I e: police, fire trucks and other sirens. But, after a day or so, it just blends into the chaos that is Vegas.

Here's hoping for a headache-free trip for you!

There is no seating. It's just an hourly performance for passers-by like the Bellagio Fountains. For less noise, watch it across the street near Casino Royale. Note it only now runs at 8 and 9p on weekdays and 8, 9, and 10p on Fri-Sat. Example of a quick pic from across the street from my trip from one year ago back when it went off at 11p...damn MLife cuts.

Edit. I misread your post, I thought you wanted to watch it when you said section. As for the hotel room...martin is right...south would be better, but could have club issues with Omnia. Mountain view? With the reduced hours you should be okay unless you like to stay on east coast time. We have never really requested a quiet room at Mirage, but it has never been loud there. Maybe that's just luck. But when you get to the front desk, just ask for a quiet room and I would hope that would be enough.

It's kind of annoying but not horribly loud if your room faces it.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's on 2-3 times a day so chances are that you won't hear it even once. Unless you're planning on going to bed at 8-9pm.

I stay at the Mirage every year and often on the Volcano side. Its not very loud from inside the room and I think they stop around 11 pm or so. More important, ask for a room half way or more down the hall. You don't want to be too close the elevator lobby. You can hear the loud mouth drunks getting off the elevator before they pair off and head to the rooms.

I've never heard it from my room. It runs a lot less frequently these days anyway. It's done by 9pm during the week and 10pm on weekends.

I've never stayed at Mirage but if they have rooms facing the mountains I would opt for that choice - not only is it a great view, but whenever I have stayed at Aria or Vdara and did not want to be disturbed by noise from Marquee etc I have chosen the mountain view and it is quiet.

They've really downgraded the show, so I don't think you'll have issues in any room, unless you're a really light sleeper and then again, it's Vegas, so you're in trouble almost anywhere. :ssst:

When you check in ask for a mountain view or pool side view. Just let them know at the front desk that you are a light sleeper. However sometimes they may try to up charge you for pool side view, just ask for a courtesy upgrade. My wife and I have never had to pay extra for the pool side view when requesting it. Hope you have a great time.

I've stayed at both Mirage and Treasure Island overlooking the volcano. The noise/music is noticeable but certainly isn't much louder than most of the goings on in Vegas.
On a side note, you can actually feel the windows flex from the heat that comes off, its pretty cool! As other have said, you're best bet would to request a pool view, it faces south down the strip and is quite a nice view....hope this helps

Hi fellow migraine suffer. I just wanted to comment on the noise. It's really not that bad. If you know your triggers, you may be able to avoid the migraine. Unfortunately, one of my triggers is bright, blinking lights. I almost always get the warning signs of a migraine, i.e. the aura/radiating, pulsating light in my line of vision. I carry prescription migraine medicine with me (a generic for Imitrex) and I take it immediately when I get the pre-cursers. I have yet to have a migraine in Vegas. Enjoy your trip!

Got shuffled to floor 23 on the west wing facing north during Superbowl weekend. Last room on the wing and it was quiet aside from normal sirens but even those were faint.

The Mirage was my base until recently, I'm looking for a new base just because I got bored of The Mirage. The rooms are amazing, but I'm a light sleeper and in my last stay I was on the 25th floor and I heard the volcano music every time it played. It wasn't loud, but I would hear it.

Thanks for the info everyone. I remember reading an article recently (although I don't know when the article was from) that they were cutting down on the number of volcano shows due to noise complaints. If its not running all day and half the night I shouldn't have an issue. As someone else posted above, my migraine triggers also include flashing and bright lights. I haven't been to Vegas before, but I'm guessing it is not called the City of Lights for nothing. I will have baseball caps and sunglasses at the ready! Thanks again for all the info.

If you've experienced casinos in general outside of Vegas, you know what kind of sights and sounds to expect. The Strip at night is a sensory experience.
