As you can see by my countdown timer, my daughter, my Mom and I are going to be in Vegas to celebrate my daughters' 21st birthday. I am 52, my Mom is 78. My Mom and I go to Vegas almost annually and have so since 1987. K, here is my question. How does the middle man ( me) keep the other two happy?
So far I have planned a Spa day at Hard Rock and Jersey Boys the day before the birthday. She turns 21 on June 8. We will be doing those two things June 7. Also have Terry Fator booked for June 9.
Am open to any and all other suggestions.......
Daughter won't gamble much and my Mom's mobility isn't great anymore. We are renting a car but only for early AM use. I want to have fun too!
Of course Flamingo pool will be a must.
I am thinking High Roller for the day of the birthday.
No nightclubs but "fun" places. We all like to eat and drink! A large cocktail to walk the Strip is a must too.
Thinking maybe Mon Ami Gabi for her birthday dinner? Watch the fountains? My Mom is VERY frugal so I have to get her head around the fact that this is a special trip and that my daughter needs to see all the things we have seen so often.
Can a person contact any restaurants to ask if anything special for 21st birthdays? I know this one is a bit different from the large group of 20 something girls.
We have never been to Vegas in June. I realize it will be hot.
Looking forward to any advice anyone may have!

Wow, this is very similar to me. Taking my son in June, he turned 21 a few weeks ago. My mom is also going, she's 79. And aunts, uncles, cousins, etc... Altogether 14 of us. Also staying at Flamingo. Two of us are at the Hilton vacation place right behind the Flamingo and I figured it was a good central location for everyone. We'll have 4 cars so we can explore off strip. We have shows scheduled each night, some are going, some aren't. Most are staying 4 nights. My son, my girlfriend and myself are staying a week.

Same here! Taking my daughter for her 21st on June 30th and staying at flamingo. Some things on my list:
We are going downtown for sure, I love freemont, and she wants to go to the neon boneyard, and maybe the zip lining
Battistas restaurant is behind the flamingo, really good meals and free wine
    Flamingo pool
Harrahs carnival court and/or the Linc for some nighttime fun
Lots of walking down the strip, there are so many things to show her like the botanical garden, miracle mile shops, forum shops at Caesars......it'll be 5 fantastic nights!!!
We're going to Atlantic city in October too, me (44), my mom (68), and daughter (21), for a three generation road trip too :)
Hope you have a great time!!!

This is so odd lol. Everyone at the Flamingo. For our group some of us are Vegas vets. Some have never been to Vegas. Some haven't been in many years (my mom, 1976). Some will go to Hoover Dam. Some to shows. Walk the strip of course. Downtown of course. Valley of Fire, Red Rock (it will be HOT though). I just set up a bunch of things to do and whoever wants to do them can. We have a couple of dinners planned for everyone but for the most part we'll be in smaller groups depending on the activity. Neon Boneyard is great, we are combining that with going downtown.

We're taking my son to the Mirage in July for his 21st birthday. Poker, cigars, drinks are in our plans.

I taught my son to add the way I was taught, by playing blackjack so he'll be good to go there. I'm teaching him craps now.

Greetings btodd - what a wonderful occasion to celebrate together! Your plans sound like there is something for everyone.

Yes - When you make dinner reservations, you can let them know it's a special occasion and ask if they provide a special mini dessert with her name and birthday year - if not, you can request it as an extra - sometimes they decorate the dessert plate or some places even sing - so be sure to ask in advance to get what you want.

Try to do the strip walks mornings and evenings - hang out at the pool or spa or anywhere inside in the peak afternoon hours - bring sunscreen, hats and comfy walking shoes just in case!

Hopefully others on here can point you to which bars are best for a birthday celebration.

Hope you fill us in with all the fun stuff you did!

Definitely go downtown, walk down to Fremont street east and visit the El Cortez and explore some of the bars, restaurants and shops

Thanks everyone! We will go downtown for sure! Did reserve Mon Ami Gabi for the special dinner evening! Harrah's Piano Bar always fun......
Vegasvic, you are so brave taking a whole crew like that!! Our younger daughter is 18 so when it is her turn, the two girls can do more "clubbing".......
If course 18 is the legal age in Canada, but my daughter left for University in Oklahoma two months after she turned 18 so this 21 birthday is a biggie!!
We always stay at Flamingo, my Mom and I were there in February. We are finding it a bit rough around the edges but couldn't resist booking it for June, the pool a big draw and oh yeah, the comped rooms!
    Keep the suggestions coming.......

If your mom has mobility isn't that great maybe rent a scooter? 702 scooters has free delivery to your resort. Will be waiting for you at the bell hop when you arrive.

You know, I was thinking about the scooter thing. I can just picture her roaring down the Strip.........yikes!
Funny, she still walks 18 holes of golf 5-6 times a week during our summers. Can't walk two feet once we go to Vegas! She has had her knee replaced twice and broke her hip dancing on NYE a couple years ago.......
I may invest in a good walking stick. Cane???!! Not likely to be well received..
Heat will be an issue too.

Actually, if she went to OU for the last two years, she's probably already started rehearsing for her 21st birthday.

Ya, not OU, small Christian university. Golfer. Not to worry, she gets lots of party time when she is home. Our younger daughter turned 18 this year. I just shudder to think what will be happening this summer.......yikes

It sounds like you guys have it figured out. You already have a good location near center strip. Have a nice dinner with family followed by a little bit of bar hopping on the evening of your daughter's 21st. Maybe stake her a few $20s at the video poker bars and teach her the game while enjoying drinks. Do pool time and explore during the day. Try one evening (not your first full one or the birthday) downtown. Don't try to do to much. Most people like to explore/casino hop their first trip to Vegas. That might be to much for Grandma so be prepared for that.

Harrah's piano bar when the twin sisters are there is a must. They have a way of embarrassing the 21 year olds celebrating their bdays. All in good fun!

Yay! Sounds perfect. We really are three fun loving gals, just at very different stages of our lives. Thanks to all for the suggestions!

I've done this. We have taken our two oldest kids and then one niece when they each turned 21. And either my mom, or dad and his wife joined us. Mobility problems have been an issue, so while there was a lot of grumbling, my mom has rented a scooter from Ballys concierge several times and ended up loving it. We always have a meeting place, usually Sullys so everyone can never forget where to go. We have taught all three the ins and outs of most of the table games. A fun day for us is renting a cabana, having a nice dinner, Olives is my favorite and then hitting Paris' piano bar. That piano bar is fun for everyone. Several times, the kids went out without us later at night, but for the most part they hung out with us. I think they liked us paying for most things lol. It really impressed them that my Diamond card got us thru most lines. Getting those huge drinks and walking around is always a must do. I can't wait till our youngest daughter turns 21. New Year's Eve birthday, next year. While no pool time, I'm sure we will still have a very memorable trip. Have fun!

I think the piano bar idea is great! I actually think the ones at NYNY and Paris are more fun than the one at Harrah's, but we're really splitting hairs there. Carnaval Court during the day is great for all age groups if it isn't too hot out. The shops at Caesar's and Venetian are great to walk/scooter around for all ages.
