    My Trip Report

This is going to have to be a super frugal trip. So why not put the planning report in the Frugal section?

I could use some ideas to trim the budget, find freeplay, eat cheap, entertain cheap, and so on.

My goal is to do this trip on $1K US gambling budget, and $1K CAD expenses.

    And so it begins!

I love playing El Cortez 25cent roulette!
$20 gave me a couple of hours of fun with my SIL (a very low-roller) and a bunch of drinks for the both of us

Another fun thing is Sigma Derby upstairs at the D. Again nothing youre going to make money on but its fun to cheer on the ponies with others :)

Stick to the better single line .25 VP. Use some of the American Casino Guide coupons. The Four Queens point bonus and the Boyd free buffet ones are no brainers. The D one is also pretty good. Check to see what Boyd casinos are offering point multiplier days. Sam's Town will probably have a couple and the shuttle out there is convenient. If you go there try the 9/7 DB progressive that starts at $1500 and doesn't penalized your earned points.

Definitely planning on sticking mostly to single line quarter VP for VP play, and further, no higher volatility games, unless I have some luck along the way.

I have to look into the American Casino Guide... do you have to shlepp the book around with you with the coupons in it?

You don't need to haul the book around. Just bring the coupons you want to use and the membership card that comes with the book. Are you heading out on the 3rd of May? That's when I'm heading down there for a week.

Yeah the Sam's Town 9/7 DB with $1500 royal is a good choice for the multiplier days. Here is the optimal strategy at the $1500 royal level aaisack takes quarter grinding to the extreme and knows what it takes for comps at that level.

And I would also sacrifice a small amount of EV (<0.1%) for variance if you have two "close" options. Like if your choices were 98.91% Deuces vs. 9/6 DDB (98.98%), I would choose Deuces a lot. Or 8/6 Boner (98.49%) vs. 9/5 Jacks (98.45%)...9/5 Jacks...zzzz! And also avoid STP without a very good expected payback, definitely never play it if standard version has a better paytable..."it burns, it burns"!!! $1000 bankroll for a week might be a bit tight if Flusher plays a lot at quarters without some better luck than this last trip!!! :vomit:

Although I think you're pretty good about this generally, I would avoid playing anywhere without you using some kind of offer or points. And the other scenario is if you want to tell a specific property to "fuck off", then use all the comp and who cares about playing there.

This is such a coincidence. I am trying to do something similar. when I was there in early March I lost on every game I played. And in 4 day I blew through a lot of money. It was difenently on tilt. I just like Vegas a lot, so I am going back may 9 through 13. I am only bringing 1000 dollars as well. I am going to try to explore Vegas rather than gamble the entire time like I did last March. I have a comped room booked at the MGM. In addition I have 250 in free play and FB.

I will be following along to get some ideas. Good luck and have a great time.

I would make sure that you don't burn your Boyd ADT, you get the gold card and suite and I wouldn't screw that up. Might be time to suck it up and stay at 4 Queens, I am sure you have freebies there. Also the El Cortez is a good one to use up some cheap comps. Also burn the mLife bridge or maybe stay at a CET property everyone gets room comps there. That said you are looking at about $83 a day in gambling, might be wise to have a gambling day then a tourist day and so on so as to increase the gambling budget per day you do gamble.

Also not sure if you have MyVegas points, if you do I am sure you can get a few buffets. As far as tourist ideas I know you have done Red Rock, but what about the Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam? Another super frugal idea? I know you have some fans on this site and others, I am sure some of them are Diamond members at CET, and I am sure some will be in town when you are. So time to be a savvy bum and mooch the diamond lounge for free booze and food.

Personally, I have trouble playing vp at less than the $1 level. I love the $1 level! So, when my budget requires it, I just do other things.
I stretch my meager gambling budgets (like this upcoming trip) by doing non-gambling things interspersed. If you have a car, definitely do a day trip. Valley of Fire with a drive back along Lake Mead is great if it's not real hot out. Mt. Charleston is great if it is real hot out. Both are morning to evening activities that leave the evening open for drinking and carousing. You can take a drive over to the winery in Pahrump. Nice ride and also takes up the day. Go hiking in Red Rock, Anthem or McCullough Trails. Or you could do like I'm doing on this trip and drive to China Ranch Date Farm and spend a few hours at the Tacopa Hot Springs. Sooo much to do besides gambling. Just figure to spend a day or two outside of the casino; you don't even have to plan it, you can just play it by ear.

This is good advice. I feel like he's underutilized that place. But maybe that's because I never see him hit anything there.

Hahaha...I would take that offer too!

Play BINGO! You can play one card validated with a dauber for less than $10. Family and friends can join you with their own card. More than once I've yelled BINGO playing just one card. It wasn't a million but a cool $250 for an $8 bet was nice and I had a lot of fun for an hour. Folks on the board tend to prefer Gold Coast but I like the Palace Station bingo room plus there are inexpensive eats there as well and a complimentary shuttle bus that runs regularly that takes you to and from the strip by the fashion show mall.

Definitely avoiding Boyd carded play. We'll be on the gold card this fall.

But I am looking at which properties I can use some 'fuck off' offers on as Tring calls them LOL. The Nugget is edging into that territory with their now completely dismal paytables. And Luxor is right up there too.

Ever since my g/f has played at Red Rock she usually talked about fitting it in again; she had a good time on the cheap. It's more social than watching keno in the hotel room. :wink2:

I managed to pop my cherry for the Welcome sign on trip 58, maybe I can get lucky at the Hoover Dam this time, have never done that one!

    Pahrump wine?

Definitely want to do some hiking. Maybe a Mt. Charleston visit.
