    My Trip Report

This trip was with the lovely wife. Totally different scene then the boy’s trips. Husband and wife trips are more relaxing. I’m one of those itinerary people when I go to LV. I do a lot of planning. Most of it gets accomplished, but there is flexibility in my plan.

I don’t like the “each day” reports. Just me, I mean no offense. I like the subject reports.

I will also be putting “Tips’ throughout this report.

Landed on Sunday, April10. We were worried about the weather. Saw on the news the floods on Saturday. Plane was delayed 1 hour because of bad weather in LV. My lucky streak continued because we spend three rain-free days in LV. Tip#1: Southwest airlines Visa. Get 50,000 miles when you sign up. When you run out of miles, have the wife sign up for another 50,000 miles. I have never paid for a flight to LV.

We always rent a car in LV. A 3 day stay usually runs me $95. Just seems easier and cheaper. People will argue otherwise. Not a big drinker so driving was no problem. This trip we used Advantage rental. No line at rental desk. Refused all add-on insurance. They gave me a Camry. Tip#2: I’ve noticed on my last couple of trips nobody comes with you to check the scratches on the car. So I go to the car, mark the paper with all kinds of scratches and dents and return it to the booth.

Ballys Jubilee strip view room comp except for resort fees. Tip#3: I have the TR Visa (automatic Platinum) and the VIP card you can get with the Visa. This VIP card gets me access to the Diamond check-in room. 30 people in line outside at the normal check-in. Nobody in the Diamond room. I ask for a quiet room because I heard the noise from the Paris and Cromwell night clubs can be a problem. Got the perfect room. Tip#4: Request a room ending in 01, 02, 03 or 04. I was in 6903. These rooms are the only 4 rooms to the left of the elevators on each floor. All other rooms are to the right. Since there are only 4 rooms to the left you never hear anyone walking down the hall and we did not hear any of the night club noise. 01 and 03 face Paris and a partial view of the Bellagio fountains. 02 and 04 face Cromwell and Caesars.

Jubilee Strip view room: Very nice and clean. Room had two refrigerators. Don’t ask me why. One under the wet sink in the room and one in a fake dresser draws. Coffee pot. Safe in night stand. Excellent mattresses, not saggy on edges. Entrance to bathroom was nice. It was like two rooms. First room was closet and makeup area with stool. Then you went into the bathroom. Wife could put on makeup and dry hair while I was showering.

Shows: Beatles Love and Raiding the Rock Vault. Wife and I are in our 60’s. We saw the Beatles live on Ed Sullivan (who’s Ed Sullivan) and went to Woodstock. These shows took us down memory lane and are great shows.

Beatles Love: If you like the Beatles and their music you will love this show. Tip#5: Do not buy expensive seats close to the stage. There is too much going on at one time and the higher up seats are better. Great costumes, visuals and sound system. When Mirage has a sale you can get great seats for $79. I also use MyVegas a lot. Tip#6: You can get Free or BOGO on MyVegas.

Raiding the Rock Vault: This is not a Tribute Band. These are the real band members’ of 60 and 70 rock groups. Howard Leese, lead guitar from Heart. Doug Aldrich, lead guitar from Whitesnake. Dave Amato from REO Speedwagon to name a few. Great, great concert. You can tell they love doing what they do. Tip#6: Buy the cheapest seats you can get. Small theater at the Tropicana. Every seat is a good seat. Groupon usually has some good prices. Get ready to stand up and clap your hands all night long.

Food: My wife likes to play MyVegas slots on line. We use the rewards for food discounts.

Nine Fine Irishman, NYNY: Great food and service. Shepherd pie was great. Wife had blacken Mahi Mahi. Tip#7: MyVegas coupon for 2 for 1 (17000 pts.) will actually get you a $35 food voucher. Guinness was smooth.

Portofino @ Mirage before the Beatles show. Great Italian restaurant. I had the Burrata Agnolotti, lobster, chanterelle mushrooms, roasted corn butter. Excellent. Wife had the waiter recommended Branzino. A European Sea Bass. He said it was just flown in 2 hours ago? Fantastic. MyVegas coupon BOGO.

Chin Chin, NYNY. Excellent Chinese food. Chow Fun noodles and Scallops in black bean Sause. Very good.

Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast, twice. This place for breakfast is a must every trip. It is what LV is all about. Early morning on the outside patio watching the people go by. At 7 am you see three types of people. 1) The hookers getting off work. 2) The clubbers dragging their butts back to their hotel room. The ladies carrying their high heels. 3) The morning joggers. Traffic is light and there is a cool chill in the air. Eggs Benedict for me. Wife gets bagel with salmon and capers. Best coffee in all of LV.

The wife and I are people watchers and watching the beautiful sites of the LV strip. Tip#8: Three of our favorite places for watching and relaxing: 1) The Hexx creamery patio. Buy yourself a cup of ice cream and watch the people cruising the strip. The Bellagio fountains are right across the street. 2) Petrossian Bar at Bellagio. Get a cocktail and enjoy the view. Great free snacks of popcorn and peanuts. The registration ceiling is beautiful. 3) Skyfall lounge or Foundation room at MB. Both great views of the strip. Go at sunset and see the strip lights come on. Both are free admittance 5 – 9 pm.

When I go with the wife there are not a lot of gambling stories. We plays 50 cent slots. Late at night my game is the Poker room. 1-2 NL. As a gambler I don’t understand why people play slots, BJ or any table games. The odds are against you. House has the edge in every game. I guess it is strictly entertainment purposes. I feel Poker is different. You are playing against other players. Some good players, but mostly inexperienced tourists and drunks. If you have the patients and skill of the game, you can win. Just my opinion. Played twice for a couple of hours. Picked up $140 the first session and $220 the second. Paid for the meals and show tickets.

Anyhow. I hope you picked up at least one tip that you can use. Next trip is Sept. 10 – 14 for NFL football. Go Eagles.
    :peace:

Tip 1. on SWA do 2 different cards(need to find when available for bonus)they have 3 cards(premier, reg and business) for yourself. 100,000 miles. when you hit 110,000 miles a free companion ticket will be available for the rest of that year and the full following year. spend the $4000 on original deals and just $6000 more for year to get companion. Best to start near beginning of year for time to spend. From Tampa we have enough for 5 rt flights to Vegas

So you are saying I can apply for 2 different SW cards when the bonus is available and I will get 50,000 miles on each card? Sounds good.

Yes. I have 2. Can cancel after awhile before $100 renewal. Apply 24 months from getting first card and cancelling . Will do the same with wife next year to try and get the companion ticket. Can not combine spouses and your cards together for companion. Has to be in one name.

    On more thought.

We went to see the "Park" outside NYNY. It is literally a park.

Trees and many tables and chairs. Not much else. A few restaurants. attached to NYNY. The Monte Carlo side is a road. I wasn't impressed

Glad you enjoyed your trip! As you might remember, you came right as I left and by the sound of things, it seemed like you had a great trip -- again, glad to hear as I may have a contract with the devil given my losses, lol! I haven't tried Mon Ami for bfast, just dinner but since they don't take or give TR points, I am a bit hesitant to go again. I tried Mortoranos (sp?) and loved it there and they accept and give points so that's on my list for next time.

By the way, did you notice a mustiness or a mold-like smell in your Jubilee room? I had 6821 and something was off. It was a king and I'm hoping my two queens will be better when I go in June. That notwithstanding, the Jubilee rooms are outstanding and, in my opinion, worth every cent comped or not.

Yea, we just missed the flood. No rain Sun. - Wed.
No mold-like smell in 6903. Very quite and nice room.
Where is this Mortoranos place located? Did you go for breakfast?
Tip: Mon Ami accepts TR vouchers. You need to go to TR desk at Paris and get a $ amount voucher before you eat.

    Good report Tahoe.
Lots of useful info except for one I have to disagree with.

Avoid Hexx, they add on the sleazy CNF charge.
It's pure greed and thievery, you get absolutely nothing for it and patronizing Hexx, Cabo Wabo and the like will only encourage other places to try the scam.

So for the NFI MyVegas reward, you don't necessarily have to order the fish and chips or Shepard's pie? We were thinking of doing this but wouldn't eat that so a $35 credit would be much better.

We only go to the Hexx Creamery where they sell ice cream, not the restaurant. I don't believe the charge was put on our ice cream bill.

    Weluvvegas
Correct, the 17000 pt choice gets you $35. The 10,500 pt choice gets you $20 something.

Enjoyed your report. Sound like experiences my wife and I have had, same age range. I am solo more often than with her. But, we've seen Love three times together and went to Raiding the Rock Vault last year and loved it. Been to Mon Ami Gabi a few times and have been outside and inside. I've only rented a car once ever in LV. I don't like driving in traffic there vs Uber or a cab. Just wondering...has anything ever come up regarding your notes about scratches, etc. on the rental cars? I've not experienced anything other than a obligatory "walk around" with returning rental cars in general and have never had any issues with them trying to assign blame for scratches, etc.
