We live in Conifer Colorado, which is a mountain town 30 minutes from Denver, and this is what we woke up to this morning. Over 3 1/2 feet of heavy wet snow with more to come over the next few days. No sign of a plow or any sounds around the neighborhood. Good thing we don't have any place to be today.

We have friends in Castle Rock. Husband had a trip planned to go visit his parents in Texas and left on Wednesday. His wife wasn't going and is now stuck at home alone in all that beautiful whiteness. Had there been any hint of such a storm, he would have never planned his trip or even left home on Wednesday.

Going to be about 80 here today, going for a nice long motorcycle ride in a tee shirt. Might take a windbreaker and just leave it in the saddlebag.

Move to Ohio! We had snow last weekend, and it's 80 degrees and gorgeous this weekend.

I want to gloat but it's mid April and we keep having false starts for spring. At least it did finally stop snowing but things haven't been consistently been good enough to turn off the heat.

Trust me. Anyone who lives in Conifer, CO would never consider moving to Ohio. Conifer is one of the most beautiful/desirable spots in Colorado. The OP knows damn well that all that snow will be melted within a week.

However, those of us down here in the Denver metro area are strongly considering selling our one bedroom condos in order to pay cash for a mansion in Ohio. :evillaugh

It was a joke about the ridiculousness of the extremes in weather we experience around here, but yeah. Oh, and be careful which neighborhood in Ohio you buy your "mansion" in. Most Ohioans are sober, hard-working folks. You'll want to make sure you fit where you land. :rolleyes2:

You are probably right about Ohio not being on our short list of retirement spots. I've actually never been there. Conifer is pretty nice, but I'm kind of over it and am ready for a change. We ended up with over 46" of snow at our place with some more coming in tonight. It took my poor husband over 2 hours just to snowblower the driveway.

Thousands of people in Japan and Ecuador woke up to shattered lives, homes and belongings. Death and destruction. How above it all too many of us are.
