    My Trip Report

Hi folks, just got home this am after 3 nights comped ($83.xx) at Harrah's Waterfront room 30092..

Had a very rough time at all the Video Poker machines I tried there over the days though my buddy who stayed with me did manage a royal at the circle of 9/6 WSOP machines on the floor.

I was playing the Poker Bar and Eden lounge machines and not even a low 4 of a kind came up.
First session Sunday afternoon/evening while watching the Masters finish resulted in a $200 loss and I play $.25 level..I salvaged the night at a $15 BJ 3-2 table buying in for $200 and cashing out $500..Fun table and decent dealer who fist-bumps players on BJ's.I must have tipped at least $50
Even the break relief dealer with no personality at all was giving me solid cards. And even seemed to appreciate the bets for her that hit..

I ended up getting Bill's for dinner at some ridiculous hour which is nothing special at all but the only game in town early am.Just an upscale Burger King to me that has a bar..2 burgers and fries /coleslaw and one coors light was $45 with tip to the bartender..

Up Monday relieved that I recouped the bad VP and it was off to the Nugget so my buddy could burn some free play he gets as a local and Diamond Harrah's,Black Borgata etc..I played and was down quick there also, but at least the machines would not eat a $20 that fast..You can see the difference from Harrah's right away..so after awhile I'm down $120 or so and do manage 4 4's DDB and we head over to the Borgata.

Play some Parx racing and with the very liberal drink tix in the racebook,I take full advantage of pints of Guinness there and at the VP bar when that opened at 2pm or so.Very tough to bounce around machines there as half are $1 minimum and the place fills up.sometimes you're just stuck.
    Vp wise-same exact thing-Down $120 and get another 4 4's no kicker for $100..
Ate at the Borgata buffet that night on buddy's comp and pretty good.Had a grilled NY Strip steak and some so-so meatballs and pasta..
Back to Eden lounge at Harrah's and the duet(Girl singer and guy on guitar) that were performing were pretty good though the bar was very quiet..even though I was playing the machines,I would have been charged for drinks, but my buddy's Diamond card allows 2 drinks at a time...and this applies when the band is taking a break also.

Harrah's is getting a bit too tight for those of that have been coming here since they opened..
New room cards say "Unlock the Fun" with an arrow to insert into the lock..we're joking that that is ironic as they are telling people to just stay in the room as they are going to wind up being pissed off casinowise...Have a blast in the room.

Tuesday was back to GN for breakfast buffet that was good and while we were leaving lunch opened up and that looked great, all kinds of hot sliders and sliced hot sausage subs, ton of stuff.
But the bartops were tough and left there down about $200.

So it was back to the machines at Harrah's and as usual nothing at all happening just down down down another $200...Noticed a Bingo Tourney going on starting at 7 pm in the convention center and the entry was based on earning 40 tier credits that day and I qualified..
Pretty large room and maybe 300 players when they started and I hit Round 2,splitting $300 free play 2 others...First time I ever played Bingo and actually may fool around with it next Vegas trip at the Gold Coast/Orleans/South Point.

Gave the coupons to my buddy and headed up to the room with some pizza from the food court and called for a wake-up at 3:30 and yes a reminder at 3:45...I was up anyway and the phone never rang until 3:45...Ahh Harrah's

Overall trip down about $600 gambling, told my buddy to swing for the fences with the $100 FP that is good till June..

Happy to be home in warm weather..Thanks for reading GL everyone on future trips

Nice report. I've yet to ever play Bingo at a casino (and rarely anywhere, really), but sometimes I play on the TropWorld app. People I know that do it say they enjoy themselves. I've also in a billion trips to AC never ate at GN's buffet, and we've sorta frequented them even before they finished changing everything from Trump Marina. I get BOGOs from them all the time, but never think to use them. I get two comped ones from Borgata and occasionally a comp or BOGO from Harrah's, so I typically lean towards those.

Better luck on your next trip!!

Pretty funny ... I wouldn't imagine that the suits anticipated this interpretation of their room card design.

Its not just Harrahs. I think both Ballys & Caesars are only getting machines set the the minimum payback. I got to AC a few times a year and I have completely given up on CET where I'm Diamond. My bankroll lasts twice as long at Tropicana & even Borgata.

Hate to hear that. I was hoping it was just my bad luck, haven't had a winning trip to Harrah's in 2 years. Sigh

Nice TR, AC is my local and I frequent CET properties. I haven't stepped foot into GN yet, but may give it a try soon after I complete the necessary comp dollars to maintain my black label card at Borgata. Can you use the GN comps that you earn in AC out in the GN in LV? I guess I should ask that in a separate thread. Thanks for the TR and bummer that you didn't have better luck with VP.

Nice trip report, jamesxnj. Sorry it was a looser. As you know, most are.

rycelover: I don't think the GN comps can be used in LV but you may want to check it out on their web site. BORGATA POINTS CAN BE USED AT BOYD PROPERTIES IN LAS VEGAS. Actually, only at 4 properties: MSS, Orleans, Sams Town and the Sun Coast. You have to get a voucher at the Borgata rewards center for $50 or greater in comps and add it to your room portfolio in LV. You can't just show up to a restaurant with the voucher, you have to charge to your room and cover it that way.

Will give Harrahs a shot tonite and friday night. Actually staying tonite at Caesars,Mrs. wanted a change of pace. We like the GN breakfast buffet but honestly some of the stuff on the lunch and dinner buffets didnt agree with me.

I had a winning trip at Caesars in Dec and then they massively cut my comps. It was my only big win from them so apparently CET is a pretty stupid company.

Sorry to hear about your losing trip. I happen to like Harrahs in AC a lot as it offers a lot in terms of food and drink but if it's going to be no fun gambling, then it defeats the purpose of being there.

As an aside, funny that you said about CET machines. Me and another board member had terrible luck at Ballys in Vegas. Nothing but busts, poor vp hands, and losing slot machines. I went to Planet Hollywood and, while I didn't win anything, I had so much more fun. The drink girls were lightening quick, I'd get plenty of winning hands to counter losing streaks. It was a good time. So don't give up on CET it's probably the luck of the draw. Also, I try to mix up the denomination and have had better luck. I was playing $25 dollar hands at one point. Gotta say the thrill of losing a lot makes it a tad bit more fun. Gambling is one helluva drug.

Mrs. is down on Harrahs again over the room in Marina Tower. Really needs a makeover,we got up this morning and said lets get dressed and get outta here. Ceturion Twr. room at Caesars was fine From now on we might just stay there.

Shoot jerseyguy, was hoping for better for you..and I've never had a quality hand at the X bar,a few at Eden and all the rest at the Poker bar...I hear you about the old towers,I was surprised they gave me a Waterfront that was in decent condition except no glasses, just paper cups in the room..

I looked at my tier credits and it was 591 over 3 days with a few hours of $15 BJ one session and $10 Roulette one hour...I'm sure the majority of that is from the VP..Just crazy to see that amount w/o ONE 4 of a kind..Oh well better luck next trip and have a great NJ summer to you!

I'm trying to talk my wife into going to Atlantic City (to Harrah's) at the beginning of May. I don't know a thing about Atlantic City. Are the casinos close enough to eachother to walk too. How far is the beach (boardwalk)?

Yeah, not sure I would have thought of that, but it's true! Maybe they hope you'll unlock the fun with the online gambling in your room? :evillaugh

    Better luck next trip James!

I wrote a blog entry on this called "A Vegas fan's Guide to AC". It got 22,000 hits so there must be something good in there. If you are staying on the boardwalk you can walk to all the casinos and the beaches are about 30 feet from the casino doors.

You can walk to the Golden Nugget and Borgata from Harrahs with the Nugget being the closest. The boardwalk is a few miles from Harrahs - I would not attempt to walk to the boardwalk from Harrahs as you would travel through some sketchy neighborhoods. If you choose to stay at a boardwalk casino you can walk to them rather easily or take the $2 shuttle than runs frequently. The Tropicana is the southern most casino on the boardwalk with the Taj Mahal being the northern most on the boardwalk. About a 2 - 2 1/2 walk between them with Resorts (connected to Taj Mahal), Ballys & Caesars between them.
