    Hi

Just wondering how you ensure the drink is a freebie? Does the bartender say its on the house?

Say I am sitting at the bar playing video poker, what happens next?

Sorry for the really newb question, going for the first time in 3 weeks.

If you want something higher end ask what can be comped first...

Other than that order your drink, he will put a receipt in the glass, ignore that, put your tip in.

Most places required you to bet max, some with $20 in.

Wynn doesn't comp drinks at the bar so don't go there for em, Aria has a 1 per 30 minutes that is loosely enforced.

Some bars like Bond as Cosmo you have to earn your drink but most places this is not not case.

    Good luck!

    Thanks

Is the Flamingo good for comps?

Also, can you get rum/coke or Amaretto/coke for free?

You should be able to order either of those. If you have a particular brand of rum you like, Captain, Bacardi, etc, tell that to the bartender when you ask for your drink. Otherwise, they will give you alcohol from the well and is no where near as good as the brand you normally like.

Ask the bartender if drinks are comped.

Yes, all CET props are fine, as are most places on the Strip. A couple notable exceptions are Wynncore (no bartop VP comps, period) and Aria which has a time limit for comps (one free drink every 30 minutes or so, not sure of the exact number).

There may be other MGM props that have instituted this policy, I feel like I read that MC has something similar now? I could just be making that up, I don't play with MGM so all I know is what I read on here.

Just an FYI, I noticed at the sports bar at CP this past March that they have instituted a play first system at the bar top VP. I know this has been reported elsewhere, but they now have little lights on the back of the machine that alert the bar tender when you have played enough to earn a free drink. No idea if its only CP or if other CET properties have this system now (or even whether it is just the one bar at CP). I don't play enough VP to know, but thought that info would help

I was thinking of doing this, but was not so sure.

I suppose it could be like negotiations, $20 in and 50p spins and you may have a comped liqor and mixer.

Put a twenty in the machine. when he asks if would like a drink ,order your bacardi and coke....before he comes back with the drink pit a fiver in the glass.
you won't go thirsty. just ad a buck for each drink and you'll be fine.

Normally, BTs will monitor your betting. When you first sit down, they'll want to see at least a $20 go in or you playing max coin to get comp drinks. Some strip casinos don't comp drinks at vp bars. I don't play on the strip, so you'll have to find out which do or don't. At most casinos the BT will either give you a glass with receipt in it or just the receipt to sing. I always return the receipt along with tip to the glass or on top of the receipt if no glass.

    Good Luck!

As BlackLabberMike States - the best way for free (and super fast) drinks is to tip well. In most casino's they put an empty glass in front of your machine, with a pen in it and every time you order a drink they will put the receipt for the drink in the glass. Put a nice tip in on the first drink and sign the receipt, after that $1 is customary for each additional drink. When leaving, if your service was above average (and especially if you plan on returning to that bar again), I would put at least another $5 bill out.

** You do need to load your machine with at least $20. If you can afford it, put a $100 in. Some bars do require you to play full play (ie 5 coins), most don't, as long as you put at least $20 in.

Many of the bartenders working these bars in the major strip casino's work there for many years and you will be surprised if you spend any amount of time in them that the bartenders will remember you and what you drink on future visits. You develop a camaraderie with them. They cheer you on for your 1 card royal draws, high 5 you on your quads, etc. You learn more about them and their family, and they about you. You develop a true friendship with them.

Both bar's at Bally's for instance, the Paris Diamond Lounge and at the 4 Queens downtown all have bartenders that have been there 10+ years and know me by name and what I drink.

At Flamingo may need to be Call Amaretto... I like bourbon and best they will give me is Beam.

Sidenote paytables blow there... if that matters to you, and I am not judging if they don't, but look at Tring's sticky in the casino gaming forum

I've noticed a couple people mention signing the receipt that they put in the glass. I have never done that. Once I get the drink, I just put a dollar in the glass.

I thought the pens were there to steal for souvenirs :wink2:
