So, my niece and her husband are leaving Monday for their honeymoon in Vegas. They thought they had a room booked at Hotel 32 but found out tonight they just have a regular room at the Monte Carlo. Do you have any tips for her to maybe get a better deal somewhere else or good tips on how to get a better experience room-wise than just a standard room at the Monte Carlo or any hotels that kind of give you special treatment on your honeymoon?

Aria is actually about the same price as Hotel32, and a great hotel! (Better bathroom too, and floor to ceiling windows.) Special treatment for honeymoon might be hard at any hotel though, only because so many people try to spoof honeymoons/birthdays, etc. I'd absolutely ask, jus don't be peeved if they don't do much.

Right now, on Mlife, for this coming Monday, Aria is showing $135 for a strip-view room, and $111 for a standard room. (Plus resort fees.) I love Aria personally, I think they'd be happy!

I like MC and have stayed in their standard room, but you're right, for a honeymoon, I'd avoid.

One thing you COULD try at MC is booking a separate offer and cancelling the first. Depends on if your niece can use a different name than the original booking. If they've had comps elsewhere, call, tell them about the comp, and see if they'll match---MC is really good on this. If they can comp a standard room, they could pay for a room upgrade, which is going to be a LOT cheaper than paying for a better room upfront. Good luck, and congrats to your niece!

Thank you for the info! Is it possible for them to sign up for an Mlife account now this weekend before they go and then maybe spend a night at Monte Carlo and then switch over to Aria on Tuesday? I don't think they did a package deal but don't know how MC is if you cancel the rest of your stay - guess you could say you're unhappy with your room? I've stayed at Aria, and I agree that's a great price for an Aria room and they're beautiful!

If they aren't already signed up with mLife before going, that pricing probably won't be available.

Standard rates aren't too bad with this promotion for next week. They are running from $94 (plus resort fee) and come with 2 free buffets. That offer is non-refundable though, but that probably won't matter since it's almost within the limit where you couldn't cancel without penalty as it is.

Which bring me back to the Monte Carlo rate they booked at. They are already be within the 72 hour window where you can't cancel the reservation without incurring a penalty for cancellation and I'm not sure how Monte Carlo will handle an early check out.

My advice, if they want to go with Aria for every night other than Monday, call Monte Carlo and see how much trouble it is to reduce their reservation nights to just Monday and, if there isn't any penalty, get that setup for just Monday, then book the Aria room. Or just cancel the Monte Carlo room with them and pay the one night penalty.

I second the Aria recommendation. I used to really like the Mirage rooms (where I'm booked at the end of the month) until I spent a couple of nights at Aria.

Rooms are starting at $105 for Monday with a $200 resort credit (two-night stay minimum) if you book at http://www.mgmresorts.com/RoyalOffer2016/

Your niece would need to join Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor club first, which I think you can now do without having previously sailed with them.

Another option is sign up for a free membership to smartervegas.com. Then look at "unlisted" for some pretty good deals. No Mlife membership needed up front. I got a great deal last December at aria. Good luck------

It sounds like you won't be able to cancel the room now without incurring a full penalty. So....why not try the $20 trick? Failing that, perhaps bring a copy of the Marriage Papers to show upon checking into the room? The front desk may be accommodating if there are suites available.

If you want, you can PM me, and give me your niece's details coming into the hotel, and I'll ask my Casino Host (on Monday morning 11th) to see about upgrading her room (she won't be able to do this on a casino rate, more like whether there is space and whether the hotel wants to do it). I'm flying out later this morning and due to arrive at the same hotel on Sunday evening (10th).

Did they try calling & just asking what pricing to change to a Hotel 32 room was? Although I'd take Aria also, it might be cheaper to upgrade the MC room vs taking a cancellation hit & rebooking

This seems like the simplest solution.

Absolutely they can sign up for mlife today....just go to mlife.com once signed up, go to "my offers" and mlife prices will show. Also, I said it might be hard to get deeper discounts for a honeymoon, but I DO think they'd have a shot at cancelling the reservation within the 72 hour window, considering the circumstances. I'd call and explain you thought it was Hotel 32 and it's a special night (honeymoon), could they waive the cancellation?

Honestly 24 hours is standard for reservations, 72 is just Vegas/Mlife, and Mc is usually pretty good on working with you if you call. If they say no, be nice and say you understand they have to operate within guidelines, and ask for a manager. If they know you're not asking for a manager to complain about them, they'll probably do it. AND a manager might cut you a deal to keep you at MC. I have worked with Grayden, a manager in Mlife VIP services at MC and he is GREAT. I'd also ping him at [email protected]

I've read many on this board that have had HOTELS in vegas not honor pre-paid reservations upon check in, and downgrading rooms, so, in my book, 72 hours is a double standard. I think if you get the right person, you can have them left you out of the reservation without penalty, IF you contact them with at least 24 hours left.

I'd at least try cancelling, you're still giving them notice, and you thought you were booking a different room...worst that happens is they say no! Good luck, and sign up for mlife and you'll be set!

P.S. Great lead on the resort credit link WWGB!

If they can cancel, they can book Aria on this offer for $105/night Monday thru Wednesday this week (plus resort fees of course) and they will also receive a $200 resort credit for a minimum 2 night stay. I have used this offer before without any problem.
