    My Trip Report

Hi everyone! I've decided to document our latest road trip from frigid and snowy Wisconsin to Las Vegas that starts tomorrow. We plan on staying about 3 to 4 weeks and most days will be boring just hanging out at Condo and doing local type stuff. (Just in shorts instead of snowsuit) When I do Vegasy things I'll update here and of course if I hit any jackpots you will hear about it. When you don't hear from me it just means I went grocery shopping etc. and nothing news worthy. I'm a 25cent VP and $5 blackjack player. Most of the time I go to Gold Coast or South Point to gamble. My wife GT will be riding shotgun and is a terrible rider. Afraid of all traffic and jumps and screams when I least expect it. I like it when she takes a happy pill and sleeps most of the trip. I've tried (begged) to get her to fly and meet me but she feels it wouldn't be fair to me.

First leg of trip starts at about 04:00 from Racine WI we will be taking I80 West to Des Moines then south on I35/335 to Wichita where I pick up 400 / 54 W to Pratt KS for the night. Total miles 836 est drive time first day is 12 hours.

Second day wake up time probably around 06:30 eat at hotel then continue South West on 54 to Tucumcari where we catch I40 for most of the rest of trip. Follow I 40 West to Gallup, NM where we stay the night.Total Miles for day 650 est drive time for second day is 9:30

Third and final day Follow I40 West to Kingman AZ then 93 up across the dam and into Las Vegas. By this time I'll be sick of driving and glad it's only a 440 miles and about 6:00 hours.

Safe travels. Win lots of money. I've been itching to take a road trip. If I didn't already have a couple Vegas flights booked...

I've never done a road trip with a nervous passenger. My dog will occasionally see something and think she needs to bark at it and that's bad enough. ;) Hopefully your drive will be scream worthy traffic free. ;)

Safe travels and enjoy the drive!

I'm from Wi. too, so I know what you mean about leaving this nasty weather. Have a safe trip, and looking forward to your trip report.

Not sure why you are stopping in Pratt but there is nothing there at all. Wichita would be a far better choice of stopping places.

Pratt was the right distance and I'm just stopping to sleep.

I'm getting a late start this morning and it's raining windy and cold. Just finishing packing and then we are off to warmer weather.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Safe travels. I've never driven out that way, so if you see anything noteworthy like a big ball of string, a bunch of Cadillacs buried nose first in the ground, Babe the Blue Ox, it would be great to see a photo.

Ya had to fight the wind the whole way. More wind tomorrow the way it looks.

Pratt is very spartan to say the least but hotel is nice and hot tub felt great.

So Route 66 casino is a great stop right outside of Albuquerque on I-40, nice casino, also if you are on I-25 coming coming from the N is Sandia casino and resort, awesome place!

Now if you are going to stay in Gallup NM as you stated, how about staying at the EL Rancho Hotel This place we've stayed there, it's all western style inside, grand country is what I call it, all these stars have stayed there, as many westerns were filmed there, John Wayne, Humprey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Jimmy Stewart and many, many others, their pictures are all signed on the walls, they have a pretty decent restaurant bottom floor, so if you get off on the 1st exit you drive about 3-4 miles it's right off Route 66 (right through the town) on your left side of the main strip, it's huge can't miss it. http://route66hotels.org/

Holy Crap, it really is a road trip. I figured this would be someone from LA going to LV. Nope. Wisconsin to Las Vegas, then you have to drive back. Now, that is a road trip.

I take it your wife is also afraid of flying and that is why you are driving.

Drive safe and enjoy the drive. Whatever happens, do not run out of happy pills.
