Whenever I get home from Las Vegas, I always feel a bit "off" for a few weeks. After all of the excitement and anticipation for the trip in the weeks leading up to it, and then the constant stimulation and awesomeness of Vegas itself, it's a bit hard to adjust back to normal life. I find myself yearning for the non-stop action, energetic atmosphere, free-flowing drinks, gourmet food, complete freedom, and endless possibilities.

Does anyone else experience this? How do you make the come down a little bit easier?

I just returned and was going to recommend writing a trip report but it appears you have already done so.
The trip report is a great way to relive it.
Also I start research and building a tentative itinerary for next trip.
The next trip is in Sept and we just purchased our tickets so now the countdown officially starts. This is a big help.

The TR was a ton of fun! I'm glad I wrote a good one up this time. I also enjoy going through my photos and reliving it :)

Unfortunately I don't have the funds to book a flight right now (nor know my schedule for summer yet), or any comp offers for that far out (praying I get some more from the Golden Gate!), so I don't think I'll be able to book anything concrete quite yet. I may start researching more and obsessively monitoring flights though ;)

Starting to plan the next visit is indeed a good way to put the last one in the "mental rearview mirror". I think most get the Vegas hangover to varying degrees and as you correctly point out, it's not just about alcohol.

For many, many years I visited Las Vegas monthly on business for a couple days and I'd pretty much keep a lid on things until the night before flying home. I'd stay up a little too late and have a bit too much fun. Now I'm 57 and my "little too late, little too much fun" is paltry compare to most on the board and I live in northern Nevada and can visit a casino anytime I feel like it. Strange thing is, I NEVER "feel like it." Las Vegas is a whole different thing for me... gambling (I'm a small time VP player) isn't that big of a draw.

I changed employment last fall and haven't been to Las Vegas since August, though I change planes at McCarran monthly, which makes the absence even worse, cause I'm "right there!" and I'm on a plane where 90% of the passengers are going there and are talking about it the whole flight down. I can tell by the way I'm starting to read/post on the message boards that I'm not long for making a trip in! It's kinda like when you do have a bad hangover and "swear" you'll never drink again! You know it's not true...

I just booked an impromptu trip for May 5-8, so let the countdown timer and trip planning commence!

I don't even kid myself about the hangover anymore... I just go "shit, that sucked, but I know I'll be back at the bottle next time!" I don't think I could handle being at McCarran but not being in Vegas, you're a stronger man than me.

I can feel a Vegas trip for you in the near future! If you happen to come down in early May, it'd be great to meet you!

HA! Your post actually got me motivated and I booked a 3 day visit on Thursday April 21st!!! I'll be returning from Colorado Springs (Denver) and have to change planes again at McCarran and I thought screw it, it's been 7 months!!! That's the longest Vegas drought I've had since I was like 25... I'm 57 now! Sorry I won't be able to shake your hand this time, but I sure appreciate your post causing me to take some of my own medicine and book a trip in!

Of course, as I drag myself back to the airport on Sunday with droopy eyelids and a likely thinner wallet, I'll have to keep reminding myself... "this was good for me, this was good for me..."

Yeah, I find the worst part is the walk through the airport to the departure gate, so depressing. I never let myself be actually physically hungover for that walk anymore, but it still sucks.

I start planning the next trip a couple of days after I get home.

Good for you! I'm happy to hear you've got a trip planned :)

I hope you have lots of luck and fun! After so much anticipation, I'd bet it'll be even more fun than normal. There's still plenty of time for us to meet, so don't worry there... Just sounds like another excuse to me lol.
