First time staying there coming up. I didn't see anything like a store there to buy cokes or snacks. Does anyone know if there is some
    place close for that?

Also where the bus stop is to go to the strip?

Recommendations on room to ask for that would be quiet? Thanks!

Walgreens is on corner of Fremont and 4th, about three blocks away. Bus stop, the deuce, is at corner of Fremont and Las Vegas Blvd, about four or five blocks away. Have a great trip!!!

Pretty sure I remember DTG having some sort of gift shop too......probably could get soft drinks there.

Mike is right on the money. Walgreens is your best bet. Their prices are cheap compared to most of the gift shops. There are two bus stops for the strip. The Deuce stops near Heart Attack Grill. The SDX (Strip and Downtown Express) picks up between Fremont Hotel and Binions. Take the SDX if you're heading to the center or South end of the strip. It has fewer stops but gets you there MUCH quicker.

Good advice all around, I think. I would just add, that if you are going to the MGM/NYNY corner, you can also take the WAX from the Fremont/Binion's stop for the residential fee ($2) and it will get you there even faster than the SDX; but, it runs less frequently. Might check the schedule posted at the Fremont/Binion's stop to make a plan. Also, if you are going to the Wynn/FashionShow area, you can take the CX (Centennial Express) from the same location and get off at the Fashion Show Mall stop, also fast and $2. Have a great trip!

As for getting to the strip I used Lyft and highly recommend it. Use the code MGM50 to get half off to any MGM property. It was <$10 to get to NYNY from the Grand.

Went to the Walgreens last December and the cashier was talking to a co-worker:
"If an old couple comes in looking for something they left this white bag."
"When you say old what do you consider old?"
"Ummm I would say about 40 years old"

I just returned from a stay at the DTG. I had a 25th floor room on the west side of the west tower, and it was quiet.

In between the Grand and Walgreens on 3rd Street is this fabulous Jerky Store. They sell a million kinds of jerky but also every kind of snack or drink you can imagine.
