i booked my wife and daughter 2 nights at the flamingo for $170 (fab room 2 queens and late check out), i am trying to get them to change to Mandalay Bay( 2 nights and 3 pm checkout and $100 resort credit) $222. well worth the switch im thinking, but i have never been to mandalay bay.

Mandalay Bay is very very nice, better than Flamingo, other than the location. And location really depends on what you plan on doing. From MB you can take the tram to Excal and go from there. I love MBay.

Mandala has IMO one of the best pools on the strip.. casino is very big and open, (doesnt feel smokey, or claustrophobic, decent dining options between mandala and luxor, also has the foundation room for a beautiful view of the strip. the only downside is location but that depends what you plan on doing.

Flamingo isnt great, MB is way nicer, BUT.... location location location

Id rather stay at the Linq than mandalay bay. First you have to tram it to Excal, then you have a 20 minute walk just to get to center strip. Women wear heels. Flamingo is the better choice I think

Being center strip is fine if you have a lot of activities planned for the area and are limited as to how far you can walk. That's why I'm staying at the Flamingo for part of my trip in June. Some in my group of 14 are 75+ and walking distance is important. Otherwise no way I'd stay center strip. And as soon as the older folks leave town the rest of us are getting off the strip :)

MBay is fantastic. As said above the pool is great. I love the casino layout too. And because they get less walk in traffic than other casinos it's not nearly as crowded.

Choose Mandalay Bay if the pool/beach scene is important. Choose Flamingo if being in the heart of The Strip is important.

We need more context, I think. Have they been to Vegas before? Do they have any definitive plans? IMO Vegas first timers should stay (or prefer to stay) center strip and the steakhouse at Flamingo is a worthwhile eatery. If they've been there before and have no definitive plans, they could easily be entertained by staying two nights at MBay without having to leave and walk in heels. MBay is definitely much much better

Never stayed in the rooms at either property, but we like the feel of MB. That being said, if the room is important I would recommend looking at a couple of recent YouTube videos. This saved my bacon once when I almost booked a West Wing room at MGM until I watched the video :blah:.

Youtube videos are a great resource to check out a place you've never stayed at before. As long as the videos are fairly recent. Every trip I mean to take videos of the rooms I stay in, good or bad, and post them to help others. But I never do.
