    My Trip Report

Getting ready for my 1st trip in 7 months, and first with Lady Friend in over a year. Somehow this also turned into a family reunion, and we will be meeting my brother and parents to celebrate the parents' 60th wedding anniversary. I wanted to get the thread started a little early, so updating would be easier.

I haven't seen any live reports from the high rollers yet during MM, so this low rolling report will hopefully make up for some of it. For the 2nd trip in a row I'm bringing my DSLR, but last trip I never even used it as my crappy rental didn't have a trunk to store it in while I ran around town. For the live updates you will have to make do with my crappy phone camera, but after I get back hopefully I will be able to upload some nicer pics. I am a red chip BJ & quarter VP player, coupon user, and promo chaser extraordinaire. Expect pics of quads, royals (if any), chip & food porn.

One new piece of hardware I'm bringing is a portable battery, which I got for a steal ($4 after rebate from Fry's) so combined with my tablet w/keyboard, the updates should be pretty regular.

We are flying in tomorrow via SW, and brother will be coming in later in the evening. Parents are arriving Monday night. Now brother & parents are not strictly Vegas Virgins, but their exposure has been limited. LF & I have 3 nights comped at Golden Gate, then 3 nights paid at El Cortez. Brother & parents are staying at El Co.

LF & I have had our share of "senior moments" over the last few trips - lost USB cable, leaving coupons and/or valet tickets in the room, leaving belongings in the casino - you get the drift. Now with LF & I pushing 60, brother not far behind, and the 'rents being 80-ish, I expect we might be able to set some sort of record for senior moments this trip. :rolleyes2:

Here are some of the things to look forward to:
Dinner at Crossroads at House Of Blues
    Zarkana (parents)
Teach the parents how to make money using casino promotions
    Pawn Stars visit
    Treasure hunter store visit
Family's 1st VP quads (and royals?)
    General mayhem and alcohol abuse

So let the madness begin, already! Of course I can't sleep, so here's a test pic of packed suitcase and a cocktail. Vegas here we come!

Looking forward to the report. Boyd gaming has lots of stuff for seniors (above 50) .. Might be worthwhile checking out Fremont, Main Street Station and/or California

Congratulations to mom & dad on 60'th wedding anniversary.

    Good luck & enjoy.

Looks like you have a great trip planned! I stay on the strip all of the time now but love downtown -- and have a special thing for El Co -- coupon runs and promos and can't wait to hear how you maximized all of them and of course, had a great time and won BIG! Let's get this party started! :)

Wow, what a first day. Ok, so I woke up and got one of those stupid spam emails from AT&T trying to sell me like security systems or something. But the subject line said something like "Your Luck Is About To Run Out". WTF. I did what any superstitious idiot would do - *delete*delete*delete*.

Anyways, the rest of the trip went ok - we got to the airport on time, despite a late pick up from LF. We didn't get a free open seat, but lucked into a skinny lady with us. The flight went off 5 minutes early, and landed 15 minutes early.

The exit from baggage claim to the rental shuttle has been rerouted so that the new really long lines waiting for the shuttle can be accomodated. I don't know what has caused the backup, but for the 1st time in 4 years it took almost a half hour to get on a rental car bus. This was incoming on Saturday of MM week 1, when I would have thought it would be relatively quiet.

So on to Fox on the 2nd shuttle, which was hot as hell due to no AC. Ack. They had several people working, so it wasn't too long a wait. I have to admit, Fox has some pretty unique coverages, some of which even include insuring your belongings in the hotel, but after declining everything, and getting a free upgrade on the lot due to a "recall" of all the Chargers on the lot, we are off.

Checked in at GG, $20 trick did not work, no upgrades avail. At this point we are dragging, but hungry. Got settled in, then over to Cal for prime rib. Tip: go back to the salad bar for chives, bacon shreddings & cheddar for your baked potato.

Played some BJ, down $30. Brother "L" arrived at airport, so we went to meet him at El Co. LF broke the quad cherry, & I hit 4s w/ kicker on nickels.

Played BJ at MSS, the Marker ale was out at the Boar bar, but waitress went to 777 to get it. Not only did she not tip hustle, but she walked away twice before I could tip her. Needless to say I chased her down, awesome service! Walked away +$30.

Played some nickel VP at the Cal, then at GG played LIR, more or less even. Then ACE$ at the bar - BOOM! Too bad I wasn't playing $ECA.

More to come - go CUSE!

Holy crap...you actually hit ACE$ in absolute reverse! (I'm sure equally as tough)
    Nice score!

Unfortunately, yeah, about as hard as getting ACE$. Technically a bit harder because you break Aces full if you have 3 of the 4 Aces in the right spots. :( This reminds me of the dealt 75432 flush (lowest possible flush) that I got on the gaffed bartop at Gustav's (RIP) in 2014. I used to play a lot of 2-7 lowball in my online poker days so I immediately noted it, and also realize 75432 suited is the same odds as a dealt royal. :(

But unlike this, at least 4 Aces is still $100!

I don't think these were back to back hands, but if they were, the odds are close to 1 in 26 million if your very next two hands played are quad Aces. When just playing a session though, the odds of your next two quads being Aces (whenever they come) is about 1 in 145. Since I've been keeping track of my quads with my smartphone since Oct. 2013, I've done the latter three times out of 301 total quads.

    Keep the hits coming jasonargo!

Based on the above pics, can someone explain what that means "aces in absolute reverse" ? Sorry if this is a stupid question..

See the "gold" letters on the Ace cards? You want to spell with those golden letters ACE$ - which pays 4000 credits on 5 coins (same as non progressive machines Royal Flush) unfortunately the game does not pay equal to for spelling it backwards as he did in the photo $ECA (only paid 1/10 at 400 coins)

    Thank you!
    - I looked at it several times and never saw the gold letters - boy, I've got a long way to go to figure out all the variants, if that is the right word, in VP.

Day 2 in the books. Slept in after the late night before. Met brother at Boar bar for the Syracuse game and he hit his 1st quad and first $2 scratcher.

It was a zero quad day for me. Over 3 hours at the Boar and later at the Plaza chasing Boner Deluxe. Needed some quality nutrition, so got this from Dave's bar at the Cal, $2, or special during games $2.50 with a beer.

The Marker ale is still unavailable, so I have been drinking the Hawaiian ales - Castaway & Fire Rock. Supposedly they don't have enough Marker brewed to serve at both bars, so the Boar patrons are getting screwed.

Most of the night was spent playing BJ with Lady Friend. $15 DD DAS at the Plaza was switched up to $25, but they grandfathered us in at 15. Overall not too exciting, or profitable for that matter. I'm still up about $200 for the trip. LF unfortunately is getting killed. We need to run some promos to get her back on track.

Dinner was at MSS buffet, used ACG earn 500 points coupon for one, total $11.99 for 2 of us. No pics, sorry. More soon.

Sucks to hear about the lack of marker. Almost as sucky as a quad free day. Hope you find a bunch more today!

Pretty laid back on day 3. Went to Aria to pick up Zarkana tickets from myVegas to give Mom & Dad as anniversary gift. Didn't gamble there at all. Headed to Circus Circus to do Win Cards, +$35. All the tables at CC were $10 min, except for the $3 BJ and $25 double-deck, even roulette & craps. This is at around 4 PM on a Monday afternoon. All the BJ was 6:5 except the DD. We played single-deck 6:5 at 10 a hand, but not because we wanted to.

I almost forgot I had set up 5X points at the El Co for today. I played some Downtown Deuces, and this turned out to be my only quad of the day.

Picked up M & D at the airport, they came in at T3. Man, that place is really generic looking compared to T1. I didn't even see any slot machines in baggage claim. Ate at Siegel's 1941, they still have the $6 burger & beer special but only 11 PM - 6 AM, cheese & fries are extra, comes with potato chips. LF was kind enough to run up some points on my card while I was out, -$30. She picked up a few nickel quads. Beer choices are Bud, Bud Light, & PBR. Brother L had the meatball sandwich the previous night at the new pizza joint at the El Co, said it was pretty good.

Played some BJ at the Cal but no love there, -$70. Back to GG for ACE$, but lightning did not strike again, -$20. Drank some decent Sam Adams IPA though. Another late night, and today is moving day to the El Co, then Strip trip for dinner at House Of Blues and the show.

Still ahead barely for the trip, just over $100, but after 3 nights that's very cool. 3 more nights to go!

T3 bag claim has a couple of slots, but not too many. They probably realize not too many people play in bag claim. They want to get their ass to Vegas ASAP.

Was it Rebel IPA? That's a pretty good offering from Sam Adams imo. It's a decent price in stores too.

Hope to see more quads not on deuces!
