I visited the worksite yesterday and noted the following:

Security on site has doubled - there's now a full contingent of staff based at the NE corner.

The parking garage on the SW corner is painted and fitted with lighting.

Excavations for foundations on the SE corner are in progress. New foundations are being poured near the frontage to LV Blvd on that same SE portion. Safety barriers are being installed on the upper floors of the structure immediately N of the SW parking garage.

Power/water/sewer lines are going in on the frontage to Desert Inn Rd (S side).

I estimated there were 35 construction workers onsite - a small number for such a large project. By comparison, the much smaller Lucky Dragon project typically has 40 to 50 workers onsite each day. At this point, unless Resorts World dramatically hastens construction, there's little chance an opening in 2018 is likely.

Thanks for the update.....wonder if the work in the SE portion is for one of the preview centers.

Yeah, based on this and what Alon is saying, tough to see either place being completed before 2019.

I saw the parking garage when I passed by the other day. What is that building on industrial drive next to the parking garage? And I still see the iron frame from the failed echelon building, when are they going to take that thing down? Would be a waste to not use that iron for something but guess they don't want to reuse the metal (will probably sell it for scrap), esp bad luck to use something from a failed project.

In old press releases a spokesperson stated the existing structures would be incorporated into Resorts World. I think we can assume that's still the case because they would need permits to demolish structures and they have not applied to do so. Having said that, the situation could easily change.

Thank you for the update. I am a local here in Vegas also and I was kind of struck by how much work had been done on the site since I had last paid attention about a year ago. It was a pleasant surprise. Let's hope it keep's going.

I'm interested to see how this whole thing ends up. The Stardust closed in 2007 so it's been 9 years already since the Echelon project went south and this new project has been started. That's a long time. Not to be nostalgic, but I really miss the Stardust. That was our regular spot for many years, and we still loved it even when it became outdated.

It's pure speculation on my part but I believe Boyd regrets (at least to some extent) closing the Stardust and trying to make it into a mega-resort. Of course it was bad timing with the economic downturn (to put it mildly) but they could have very easily kept the west tower and casino going and built around it. Boyd would have maintained their presence on the Strip, still had a decent revenue stream, and maintained an iconic Vegas name.

I'll believe it when I see it but I'm hopeful it gets done eventually.

Every time I read an article, it shows a later year for an opening. If it gets done this decade, I'll be surprised.

All new development has a hand on the disconnect plug. They would rather miss opening dates than suffer further losses if the economy goes flat. All the market and investment sites give you conflicting information. So they drag it on, hoping to see positive signs, and if need be; cut their losses. What else can they do to limit their exposure?

I visited Resorts World in Malaysia recently. If they built stuff in Vegas at the pace they build in Malaysia it would be done by the end of the year. :)
They are expanding what is already a mind-boggling huge casino. It's pretty impressive to see. Something like 150 roulette tables across the whole place.

RW tweeted a picture of the inside of the completed garage....first activity on their Twitter account in 14 months. We'll see if its a sign of the promised activity to ramp up this fall.

Dos anybody know whether it will have 3000 rooms vs 6000 rooms? I hear it's $4 billion dollar project but also hear it's much less than that... I know these company has many property's thru out Asia and I think in NY so they have money to back up the project,,,,, exciting new mega casino will open and competing for business (maybe will teach MGM lesson on parking fees lol)

Latest articles have said 3000 rooms, but that is with the initial tower. No reason they could not have a phase II project later if they are a success.

Thanks for the update...looking forward to this and the Lucky Dragon. Would like to see something done with Fontainebleau. Then we would be rid of the reminders of a not so distant pass..
