This was just posted on the LVA news feed:
Looser Games at Downtown Grand: The Downtown Grand is loosening its games. Already paying 3-2 on all blackjack games, several 9/6 Jacks or Better schedules for quarters are now available on the floor. Additionally, an email to players indicates that DG is dealing no-commision buy bets at craps and offers the "loosest video keno payables" at the bar.

Vital Vegas just posted an article about the pool being re-themed with new drinks and an actual marketing budget.

If anyone is downtown this week can they top by and verify any of this?

Interested to know what they consider the "loosest" bartop keno to be. That's a marketing gimmick I haven't heard of before.

Any beers worth drinking in that joint, Tring? Might have to make a trip DT next trip and wondering whether DTG is worth a look.

Comped? I don't think so, unless things have changed since April. I'm 99.54% sure I drank a Budweiser there, my usual non-craft default. I didn't write about drinking a beer there in my TR at least. :grrr:

One place DT that I never make it to that is a little bit crafty from what I read is El Co. They have Ninkasi Total Domination IPA at least. Also pretty sure they have 9/6 DDB at the bar. Other than that it's mostly D's Long Bar I think, which is disappointing for selection, imo.

Keno, just like VP, have paytables and there are calculators to figure out return percentages. Granted even the best keno is only about 95%. I look at the 4 spot and if the payout is 2 for 2 out of 4, 5 for 3 out of 4 and 100 for 4 out of 4 the return is 94.8. here is the calculator I use: http://www.online-casinos.com/keno/keno-calculator.asp

Right, this is the number range I wonder that DTG might be upping the keno at the bar to. Many keno play money games at videopoker.com are about 95% too. That site emulates vp and keno software that you see in casino. For VP, they very often offer the highest paytables available by default. So I'm guessing video keno is not easy to find above 95%.

Glad to see this. Hopefully these changes will result in bigger crowds and 24/7 table gaming. Good for them for finally adapting to a downtown model. Next up, better beer!!! :peace::beer:

I always buy 4 & 10 for $20 (21 with vig), I havent done the math just going off advice from a guy who knows his shit , he jumped me for placing them one time and explained why buy bet is better than a place bet on 4 & 10...... now this makes it a no brainer

X2. I remember leaving the DTG pretty quickly when I saw the beer offerings.

My prediction is as soon as things start picking up they will tighten up again. They can't help but shoot themselves in the foot.

I agree! How many times have we been through this tight/loose cycle already.

If my thinking/math is correct buying 4/10(vig upfront) 4.76%HA, buying 4/10(vig on win) 1.67%HA, then if they are free buy bets then 0.0%HA.:drunk:

Lots of casinos don't charge the vig when you lose. But I see what you're sayin, it could just be a play of words to make the promotion look attractive.

Edit to add: Oops! Just read ajp's post. Looks like the bet is a good deal.

I realize I'm coming off as a jerk, but I'm glad they got the message that Downtown is Not the Strip. We expect good gambling and fair prices. Crappy rules and pay tables only keep people away. As for craft beer, keep in mind that the "hipster" trend is just that. They should offer good quality beer, including craft beer, but not at the exclusion of us that drink "swill' aka domestic. End of rant.
