Ok, so I'm one of the few people who have not watched Breaking Bad. I was going to start watching it on Netflix but I noticed Better Call Saul was there also and saw it was the prequel to BB. Any recommendations on which one I should watch first or does it matter? Thanks in advance VMBers. :peace::beer:

I would watch breaking bad 1st, but it's up to you, obviously 5 years of shows would take awhile.

Breaking bad is first in a heartbeat. Otherwise you will not understand or really follow better call Saul. Btw, breaking bad was a great series!

You can binge watch bb in a week or 2 without commercials. You will be hooked!

You need not watch BB to enjoy BCS, but there are a few moments that you'll better appreciate if you know the BB story, and there are subtle connections that aren't necessarily significant but are enjoyable if you've seen BB.

Ditto on BB first. All of the characters on BB are raw and intense, where as BCS shows their human side/their roots.

Personally, I think if I saw BCS first, it would have taken some of the power from some of the grittier characters on BB. I also wouldn't have appreciated BCS as much as I wouldn't have had the gritty backdrop for each character. Plus it's fun to revisit some of the characters from BB when you watch BCS, where as if you watch BCS first, you won't know when you're matching a major player from BB. You CAN watch BCS without BB, but I think you'd love a good chunk of what gives it layers.

I won't delve into too much detail, but I personally would have been upset had I watched BCS before BB. Hopefully you have enough free time to binge watch BB, love it or hate it, you definitely won't call it bland or boring! :) Enjoy!

It's not often you get a show that is consistently excellent from start to finish. Easily one of the best shows ever. Cranston is brilliant as Walter White.

I thought it was cool to see Mike Ehrmentraut (sp?) back story as well as Saul Goodman's on BCS. Definitely watch BB first. Along with The Wire, one of the most intense shows in television.

    ***********SPOILER ALERT************

On last night's show, an older Mexican man tries to bribe Mike. I laughed my ass off when I saw him. If you didn't watch BB, you would never know why.

I agree that you should watch Breaking Bad first. Saul has a ton of little easter eggs for BB fans that you would miss without having first seen the original series. However, I think you could enjoy Saul without knowing any of the BB stuff. Both are pretty solid shows.

Mike...glad to see that you're on BB before BCS... Breaking Bad is truly one of the best television shows ever made...Better Call Saul is pretty damned good as well, but far more enjoyable (I would think) if one sees BB first!

The only reason we started watching BCS was because of BB. We like BCS but if we had never watched BB I doubt we would have watched BCS. I find whenever chuck enters the story it becomes rather boring. We are hoping Jimmy becomes Saul soon?

    I'll confess --
    I've never seen BB, either.
It was on air -- but I never had time to watch it
even if I recorded it.....so I never bothered.
    One of these days....I'll try.

BB is one of the best shows ever in my book. Better call Saul is definitely slower but still enjoyable.

Both are great shows, Mike. As the other has said check out BB first and then Saul.

I have Monday's and will have next Monday's on DVR waiting for me when I'm back from Vegas
