I usually play the Video games. Ones that are cutesy you know? But I want to partake in Tables but when I read about strategies its all in abbreviated form or acronyms. I have no idea what is being said. Is there a cheat sheet somewhere that explains what is actually being said? In particular the last post I read about was Jack Black strategy. Well for the most part it was like Greek to me?

    mplified Basic Strategy-
1)Dealer Rules(H17): Draw on 16 or less, stand on 17 or more. Exception: Hit soft 17. Never take insurance or even money.
2)Easy Splits: Always split aces and 8's.
3)Easy Stands: Versus dealers 2-6, stand on hard 12-16.
4)Easy Doubles: Double on 10 or 11 when your total is higher than the dealers up card.
5)Soft Doubles: Double all 18 and less soft hands against dealer 4-6.
6)More Splits: Split all pairs (except 4's, 5's and 10's) against dealer 2-7.

I'm a maroon as for the most part I don't know what is being said. Again I'm a novice big time.

Well, that simplified strategy (which is a pretty good one) assumes you know the basic rules of the game of Blackjack already.

I would suggest reading the first part of this page carefully to get a better grasp of the game's rules and terminology.

Is it right to stand on a hard 12 against a dealer's 2?

Hit that! Also hit if you have 12 and the dealer has 3.

H17 or S17 = this tells you whether or not the dealer Hits a soft-17 or Stands. The dealer standing on soft-17 is to your advantage.
DAS = double-after-split. This means that you may double down after splitting, after taking a single hit. For example, let's say you split 8s. Your first hit on your first 8 is a 2. You can double down that hand.
LS = Late Surrender. This means that you may surrender your hand after the dealer checks to be sure they do not have blackjack. You sacrifice half of your bet and "fold". You would do this, for example, when you have a hard-16 versus a dealer 10.
DD = double-deck. Two decks are used as the playable cards (before the cut). 6D, 8D = 6-decks & 8-decks. CSM = continuous shuffle machine.
Pitch = the cards are held by & dealt from the hands of the dealer. You also hold your own cards (in one hand only) in such a game.
Shoe = the cards are contained in a plastic card-holder and are dealt, face-up, one-at-a-time from this holder to the players. You never touch the cards in a shoe-game.
6:5 versus 3:2 - This indicates what the table pays you when you get a blackjack. If you have $10 bet, a 6:5 game will pay you $12 on a blackjack. A real blackjack game (3:2) will pay you $15.
DAT = double-any-two. This means that you may double-down on any two-card hand. (Some games only allow you to double-down with 9-10-11 or even just 10-11).
    On 'basic strategy cards': H = hit. S = stand. D = double-down. P = split.

    Good luck!

    I agree 100% with Bo333.

Also, the IP mentioned a "cheat sheet". If you can't count cards I'd get the basic strategy cards for blackjack. They sell them in all of the casino gift shops and do allow you to use them at the tables. They cost about $1.99 and worth every penny! Good luck!

Cut & paste this into a word document.
    Shrink to an 8-font.
It should fit onto the back of a standard-sized business card. This is for an H17 two-deck game.

I saw a woman at the BJ table wearing a shirt with the basic strategy table upsidedown on the shirt. So, you could look down at your shirt and read the correct play.

    That's pretty funny.

If she were busty, I can see that being advantageous as it would be right there. Looking down on a flat shirt seems very taxing on your neck.

No it is technically wrong; however, it's a borderline play and standing on 12 vs. 3 is even more borderline. And it fits well with the "stand on hard 12-16 vs. dealer 2-6 line".
