So this is my strategy that seems to work pretty well for me.

    Assume 100 units (I've done this with $1, $5 and $25 chips)

4 units on ten numbers straight up
20 units on 3 columns that have 3 numbers not included in any of the straight up numbers

This covers 19 numbers on a 37 number wheel assuming only 0.

The odds of winning are greater than 50%. A win on a straight up number gives a 44% return. A win on a column gives a 140% return. If these were the odds on a slot machine everyone would be playing it.

Now use my strategy to win!

Ok, I need to ask why you would put anything on all three columns. Obviously you're guaranteed to lose whatever you've put on two columns on every roll. So, why?

think hes talking about a row of numbers like column #1-2-3 or #10-11-12

It would make more sense, right?
I might try this for kicks.

Yes that's right. A column of 3 numbers. It pays 11 to 1 when it hits plus you get your original 20 units back.

Someone may have finally beaten the game! Only way you lose is if you get very unlucky

So, if you hit one of your straight numbers you get 144 units, if you hit one of your "columns" which I would call rows you get 240 units.
Any spin you loose it will be all 100 units. With your system there are 18 numbers not covered.
You loose 100 units in 18/37 spins in average. Minus 1800
You win 44 units in 10/37 spins in average. Plus 440
You win 140 units in 9/37 spins in average. Plus 1260
In total this will be -100 dollar over 37 spins in average.
Let me guess this is exactly the casino edge of 2.7%

I am not saying dont do it and that you cannot get home with a win in several sessions, but the chances in the long run are exactly the same as always.

But it sounds fun to play, so despite the chances are not different I might try it

Don't forget to add back your original bet that wins with the payout.

I do not usually play roulette but what if you put the 20 on 6 numbers instead of 3. You would win less but have 28 numbers covered.

    Well, in simple terms...

    - You've got 19/37 numbers covered (51.35%) - this would be exactly 50% on 00 roulette, covering 19/38 numbers
    - There are three possible scenarios...
-- A straight up number hits, giving you 144 units - 44 units over your original 100
-- A line hits, giving you 240 units - 140 units over your original 100
-- Nothing hits - leaving you with -100 units

In a mathematically perfect situation of 370 spins of a 0 roulette wheel, each number (0-36) will come up exactly ten times.

We will assume $1 units, for a $100 total bet on each spin.

In this case, we will have the following payouts, assuming all of the same numbers and lines are wagered on...
    Numbers 1-10: $144 total chips paid x 10 hits = $1440 x 10 numbers = $14,400 won
    Lines 1-3: $240 total chips paid x 10 hits = $2400 x 3 numbers = $7,200 won
    "Blanks": -$100 total chips lost x 180 hits = $18,000 = $18,000 lost

    $14,400 + $7,200 = $21,600.... $21,600 - $18,000 = $3,600 total theoretical win

Based on this calculation, this does look like it could marginally beat a 0 wheel. I have to say I'm impressed at this idea.

Where the player edge is improved, in my opinion, is in comps - at $100 per spin and 370 spins, you're looking at $37,000 in total play, and exactly $999 in theo on 2.7% house edge. That will most certainly get you a decent room for a weekend and probably some meal comps too.

Even if you're playing just for comps and accepting a 0% edge on a 00 wheel - at 5.26% house edge, you have $1,946.20 in theo, which is good for some serious benefits - in addition to the free drinks while playing and any tier credits you might rack up.

Can anyone please poke some holes in this math? I very seriously welcome even the most harsh critiquing.

I've played for 2 days straight with this strategy. I have won both days. Not huge wins, but a win is a win!

This is included in my calculation, that is why it exactly fits to the theoretical loss in roulette with a single zero.
Sorry guys, but if you calculate another number yours is wrong :)

The mistake in your calculation is the original wager. Single zero roulette pays for a win on a single number 35xyour bet plus your original bet. So betting 4 units gets you 144 back, but that includes your own 4 units.

You have to deduct the 1000 units you bet from your wins, that is why the expected loss is 2.7% as I explained in my post further up. I used exactly your example, just only 1 round instead of 10

No they wouldn't. A 97.3% slot machine with a max slot win of 1.4 to 1 sounds very boring to me. And as others have said, this betting pattern is just as bad as nearly every other one in roulette. Betting any combo of numbers on a single zero wheel costs the player 1/37 = 2.7%. At least Pay Triple's method took advantage of the "en prison" rule with even money wagers.

Why bet 20 units on a column of 3? Just bet 7 units on each number and your return is better.

Why should the return be better? It is statistically always exactly the same, 97.3% on a single zero wheel.

20 units at 11 to 1 gains a win of 220 units. A single number with 7 units on it wins 245 unit. Even out the bet and 21 units @ 11-1 wins you 231 units. But I do see now that the loss of 14 units on the losing two numbers would make this bet even! Missed that originally.

The thing with roulette is you can turn it however you want, the chances are always absolutely the same. But as I also play roulette here in Switzerland quite often I absolutely agree that the feeling can change quite a lot if you use a "system".
I absolutely hate the double zero roulette in Vegas, not only because of higher house advantage but also because I am used to the total different sequence of the numbers on the wheel. That prevents me playing "my style" and it does not feel good at all
