Normally we stay at the MGM but this spring we are going to start at the GN (never stayed there before). I have seen many many hand pays at the MGM but how about the GN any idea of the frequency, we stop in there but don't see too much action on the slots, just figured we would try the downtown for a change.

I think your thread title is not descriptive enough. Needs to be something like "Jackpot frequency Downtown" .

Just in general terms downtown is supposed to pay better than the strip. My guess would be that the Golden Nugget pays the lowest of the downtown casinos. That's for slots, if your playing VP just check the paytables.

The number and frequency of hand pays that anyone happens to see while in any given casino is purely anecdotal, and isn't foretelling of what your personal experience will be when you are gambling there.

Yes the title could be changed, and I realize the hand pays that are seen is purely coincidental, I guess I should have asked if people "feel" they get a better return or more play on slots downtown than the strip, I have read all the reports of the payback for the different areas, but what is on paper doesn't always correspond to what you may see. Also maybe I should have started it in the gaming category

If you "feel" like you can win more when the stats say otherwise, or when you would rather play vp at casino x rather than full pay vp at casino y, then by all means play where you "feel" better. (And based on this logic, you'll get lots of comps, since you'll be donating to their bottom lines). Unless you feel the reports on paper are bogus - your other feelings are really immaterial as are your requests for others "feelings." I don't think the machines have any feelings themselves.
Enjoy your trip - I doubt that GN will feel any different than MGM, since it's the fanciest (and tightest) place downtown.
