I know we have discussed this before, but I'm certainly no CET expert so I would appreciate some advice.

I'm thinking about doing the Diamond in a day (or the 2 day version) during my upcoming stay at the Linq.

My current reading is that it would take 50k coin in at video poker on machines that aren't penalized to hit that threshold for either the one or two day option.

For those unaware a tier bonus of 5k kicks in at 2,500 tier points earned in one day. A tier bonus of 10k kicks in at 5,000 tier points earned in a day. 15k in tier points equals diamond.

What are my best options? I want to keep both my volatility and theo down as low as possible so I can maximize my return on investment. I'm open to doing this at any of the CET properties. I'm also open to other games if there's a better option than VP.

    Thanks

Take the shuttle from Harrah's to Rio and hammer 8/5 Bonus for full points and find a Royal to be a guaranteed winner. Theo is ~$208 per day for $25000 coin-in.

IMHO, Two 2500TC days is more reasonable it depends on how much time you want to spend in the casino.

There's 8/5 bonus at Rio? I guess I just assumed that no CET casino had paytables like that............what else am I missing out on at Rio?

It's mainly those machines. They also offer 9/6 DDB for dollars if that's more your game. They used to offer 40/10/6 DDB (99.96%) for multiline dollars at $50 a point, but those got downgraded to 9/6 DDB (98.98%). :( I think the bartops may also still be the "old" CET paytables (same as TAG Lounge at Linq).

For quarters only, Cromwell also has full pay VP (up to 99.73%, but no DDB) near the front entrance. But it's only for quarters and is $50 a point so playing on your card may not be a good idea because it will likely harm your ADT.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to give this a go. My budget is only a K for the first 2 days. Hopefully it holds up long enough to at least get me to the half way point.

For basically guaranteed diamond status, that's pretty attractive. As a matter of offsetting any actual (as opposed to theoretical) losses - can one have comped meals and possibly a room for that kind of play, independent of any earned tier for "diamond in a day"?

Also, just out of interest, how difficult is it to play that paytable perfectly, to the point that the odds are as good as you're saying?

Best of luck. If I could do DIAD on 1K, that means that I would have hit a big one really early. But then again, I'm a "traditional" slot player.

    I second this.
they're two machines, across from sports book deli, closer to the bathrooms.
with $1000, I'd say you could earn platinum in a day...if you get really lucky, you could hit DIAD.

Not really seeing the point in trying to do it in one day (unless you're crammed for time). There's no advantage vs. doing it over two days. Plus it'd suck to be grinding away when you're tired or sick of playing simply because you're at 3500 TCs and you need to earn another 1500 to get there.

I'm going with the two day option since the good machines look to be $1 level only. I know my risk of ruin is high, but hey that's gambling.

Just in case you're planning on doing something with the Diamond status on the same trip - the daily bonus TCs don't get posted until sometime between 4:00 and 5:00pm Pacific the day following the gaming day in which you earn the original TCs.

When they mention $25/50 for a tier credit, what is the normal rate you should be looking for

$5 coin-in for slots and $10 for VP are the standard TC rates for CET.

It will tell you on machine 1 pt per $50. If it doesn't then it will be normal.

Let's say I am stuck on the Strip (with my wife) and I play the best quarter VP I can find at a CET place. Approximatley how much time would it take to amass 2500 TCs a day? I am intrigued by this, but I am not an 8-hours-at-a-sitting player.

8 hands @ $1.25 per = 1 point. So it depends on how fast you play. It's almost impossible to do it with single line quarters. 8 hours at $1.25 means 2500 hands an hour. Which would be 41 hands a minute of a hand every 1.4 seconds. Dollars would be much more reasonable but would still be an 8 hour grind at 625 hands per hour. Dollar triple or 5 play could do it could do it in 4 hours or so.
