Any point in playing at the Mirage Poker Room since you can't earn express comps with it anymore? I mean other than the easy fishing of course lol

I have never met a poker player that based where they play on whether or not they generate comps in the room

Boy I have. Consider yourself lucky UK. Comp-nits are the miserable to be around. Unless you have a shortage of Old-man-coffees in your life. Go to 2+2, there is a humongous thread about the Venitian going from $2 per hour to $1. You would think that they were actually poking them in the eye with a sharp stick.

I think you never could earn express comps at Mirage or any MGM properties playing poker. All MGM poker properties have either separate comp system

In that case, I do consider myself lucky, lol. None of my poker friends have ever mentioned comps factoring into their decisions of where to play. They always just talk about seeking out the softest games. I stand corrected

This is what I thought too. It was always a separate comp bank.

Softest games usually reside at places with higher rakes and jackpot drops afaik. People who are cognizant of these things tend to play better.

$1 / hour comp is the norm at Mand. Bay, Excal. and Luxor. Able to use the comps at numerous cross over properties - food establishments - ex. Deli at Luxor, Italian at Excal.

Actually Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, MGM (1/2), Monte Carlo are $1. Luxor, Aria, Bellagio, Mirage, MGM (2/5) are $2/hr.

You can't cross over places, you can only use comps at the given casino. The only casinos that are related are Excalibur and Luxor.

Maybe your thinking about CET poker room comps

I think you're thinking of how table games (BJ, Craps, Baccarat, etc) no longer earn Express Comps. As others have mentioned this doesn't apply to the Poker room, which is a separate comp system.

Thanks for the correction. Last November I played at Luxor (I think it was $2/hour) and Excalibur ($1/hour) was correct. I should have mentioned that only Luxor and Excalibur comps earned can be used in their restaurants at each property however. The comp slip has to be filled out at the Poker Room desk, and it lists the restaurants that it can be used at. I chose the Italian place at Excalibur unfortunately --> was not a good choice - not much flavor. Had tried all other places listed, so thought I'd try a new one - oops!
