    Hi all,

First, when I use vs, it isn't a competition as far as im concerned between these sites. All these sites are a great resource for us all to learn and get ideas from about Las Vegas. There are millions and millions of people in the vast world. So there are plenty of people to go around. I think and have talked to many others and I know we would like there to be even more great Las Vegas informational sites for us to go to. So, Im starting a new site! Just kidding! LOL...

My question is, how do you feel about having other resources besides the King of all Las Vegas sites known as VEGAS MESSAGE BOARD?

Would you like to see even more sites come out?

Do you think VMB is enough?

Do you feel there are too many sites?

Would you leave VMB for other new sites?

Would you use all these sites for resources?

Do you feel a certain loyalty to VMB (I know I do)?

Do you not care either way?

    Are you good with mods?

Would you like there to be less or more infractions from any site?

Listen, sites come and go. VMB will be here forever (hopefully) It is a huge undertaking to start a site. Many many hours and lots of money to start new. I think all these sites can work off each other and actually bring new members to each other.

See you all in Las Vegas for March Madness!

I am loyal to VMB but on both sites.

No issues whatsoever with the mods here, but I have some class and follow the rules at someone else's house. I told Sonya once the new rule should be "Welcome to VMB don't be a D**K" cause essentially that is the golden rule here.

I can see where multiple sites can wear thin if the content is all the same but this is the internet. Are there too many porn sites?? Nope... same with Vegas! :evillaugh

Degenpacker.com (TM) Why would we need other sites! :evillaugh

In the end this is all that is important

Actually there are a number of vegas sites already and I belonged to a few of them. I used to post on openvegas, also AC's las Vegas Advisor and Vegaswatch and you also have Blondie's lasvegas4ever and a number of other sites that I visit but don't post on them. I haven't posted on them lately because they either became more political and less las vegas, didn't like the people running the site or the site doesn't seem to be very active anymore.

I like VMB because there are a lot of good and helpful people here. The mods also try to keep everybody in line so there aren't many "snarky" and confrontational posts and situations between members.

Can never have too many vegas sites IMHO as long as they are helpful. If you can't find your info on one site you can always to go another site and ask there, maybe you will find someone who can help you there.

I've been lucky, I haven't had an infraction in many months (years?). Getting my hand slapped a few times I learned what is allowed here and what isn't and while it may seem restrictive you are always welcome to go elsewhere to another site which isn't moderated as strictly. But then some of those sites are more of a free for all and sometimes get a little out of hand (IMHO).

Not sure if I would leave VMB, if anything I would also post on other sites if I feel I can be helpful and can get help in return without the snarky comments and non vegas and political discussions.

I try to keep it real.

Considering all the sodium in processed food I am most likely literally 20% salt of the earth!

Listen this isn't West Side Story where rival sites have to rumble if we cross each other on the strip.... why some take it that way makes no sense to me.

Though to see Packer and me put on our dancing shoes and "serving" people left and right, we'd make more tip money than the kick me in the nuts guy!

My question is, how do you feel about having other resources besides the King of all Las Vegas sites known as VEGAS MESSAGE BOARD?
I do visit other sites because every site has a different focus. VMB is my fave because so many folks here are gamblers and talking about other topics is fun and informative.

Would you like to see even more sites come out?
Sites like this? Don't really care. Would like to see more blogs,

Do you think VMB is enough?
No but that's not a bad thing.

Do you feel there are too many sites?
    Haven't thought about it.

Would you leave VMB for other new sites?
Only if something changed and it became a toxic environment like the board I used to frequent.

Would you use all these sites for resources?
Not all, but enough to have a good breadth and depth of breaking news and first hand experiences.

Do you feel a certain loyalty to VMB (I know I do)?
    Yes.

Do you not care either way?

    Are you good with mods?
    Yes.

Would you like there to be less or more infractions from any site?
The way they are handled here is smooth. On other sites, they are done to personally attack others and not always about the rules.

I rate this board at the top.

I like the lasvegas4ever environment equally as well, it just doesn't get as much traffic.

TA is decent, but it's not as user friendly as this board, and has a few Richard Craniums

Openvegas...well, it's just a shame what that guy did to that site.

Packer, I'm confused as to why your post about other sites says that it was last edited by Sonya. Did you write that this board is the king of all of them, or..

Hmmm......never really thought about it I guess.....unless there is link from this board to another this is the only Vegas board I ever go to, and for sure the only one I would post on.

Also the only Vegas board I have bookmarked......so VMB wins in all categories for me :):):)

    Thanks Sonya !

Interesting subject. This is the only board I post on, but I lurk at a few others. I don't really think there is such a thing as too much vegas content, so I am all for other boards and, more importantly, blogs. I don't spend much time on other boards because I find most of what I am looking for here. And its a generally friendly environment. But I do agree with leo's post that I wish there were more vegas-centric blogs. There are several I check daily. And probably my all time favorite vegas site was VegasRex. I found the board there only mildly interesting, but I loved the blog (VegasRex was an excellent writer and I enjoyed his sense of humor).

I tend to go to boards for quick and concise information on a range of subjects. I enjoy the blogs because they are a bit more long form and can offer more than quick answers or brief opinion. There is definitely some of that content in the trip reports here and on other sites as well (including the OP, whose TRs are entertaining). But frequently I don't want a TR and all of the accompanying questions and comments. Many times I just want the author's opinions and humor, and that usually easier found in blogs.

    THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Ok, wait, I've changed my mind. THERE CAN BE ONLY LIKE 20 OR 30 SITES THAT I GO TO, TOPS!

This cannot be said enough. The mods here do a great job. So great, that I don't even recognize who the mods are! To me, that's a sign that they have just the right level of moderation.

Now just like every other site on the internet, there are a few "Richard Craniums" here too. Block User is a wonderful thing. I also LOVE the fact that there is a no-politics rule.

This is the only Vegas-related forum that I participate in. There are other sites I'll take a quick peek at in the days/weeks ahead of a trip, but I'm reading stuff here every day.

I think variety is good. But hopefully the user base doesn't become too fractured.

Though using tapatalk for 90% of my browsing it's hard to tell when you jump from board to board.

This board has helped me immensely when learning about Vegas and becoming acquainted with many likeminded Vegas degens!

I like other boards too because of the variety. There can never be too much Vegas talk for me!

The only one I dislike is TA. That place is miserable. Used to read it but don't even do that anymore.

"Considering all the sodium in processed food I am most likely literally 20% salt of the earth!"

Quips such as the above are one reason I enjoy this site the best.

Another reason is that this site is apolitical, and everybody needs a politics-free zone this year especially!

Another is that Sonya gave me some excellent non-Vegas travel advice, and I'm grateful.

I visit one other Vegas site that is a spinoff from the LVA. I like to to keep in touch with some of the posters on that site who, like me, quit the LVA 5 years ago when anthony was being even more of a dick than usual.

I must behave, because as far as I know I have never had my hand slapped here. I did catch there are two new boards out there, so I assume there was a meltdown here that I missed.

After looking at both, I think their mostly copies of this board. One better then the other, but it would depend on what your looking for. Only time will tell if they last, the big bitch on one, is that this board is overly moderated. That may be, but anyone that's spent time on message boards knows people are assholes. And I like how this board runs, so for now I will read others but consider VMB #1

And competition isn't a bad thing, that's why you find two or three gas stations at an intersection, or multiple car dealers in the same area, so they can draw off each other.

I enjoy this site for the slot porn, chip porn. Food doesn't turn me on. I joined last August? when Vegas Chatter closed down. So relatively a newb. But I've done a VMB team slot pull back in January, and can't wait for another one if I'm down. Met some degens. Met some degens last weekend at Bellagio and Cosmo. Everything good! This is the only site I visit now. (one thing I did like about VC was if you wanted a list of where all the dj's were playing at lets say HALLOWEEN, there were lists) (not for me, but for the gang of kids that sometimes accompany me). Actually I will add to this, Halloween, lets say,,,where were the COSTUME PRIZE PARTIES being held and who was djing? (that's better).

VMB is the first Vegas related site that I started visiting on a regular basis, and the only one that I contribute to. I was led to it because of the topics I would Google (info on hotels, restaurants, etc), a thread on VMB would always be one of the top results.

Of the other forums, I'll occasionally check out Shackleford's WoV, which often gets pretty detailed into gaming math (not surprising given the nature of the WoO site).

I'll also visit vital Vegas or Vegas bright from time to time to see what's new around town. But VMB is the only one I'm on daily.
