I'm so cheap, I'm gonna take five days clothes in a IN a 14x16x12 backback with Spirit air (Bostion to Vegas) to avoid luggage costs...then take the WAX to downtown showing my ss card for a buck.. Then off to Main Street Station for 3 free days, I'll pay for 2.days....then I will do the prime rib deal at the Cal... and head for Fremont and Elco for BJ.:licklips: Shuttle to Samstown...etc to get the most for the least!

I fly Southwest, check a HUGE bag, and still avoid luggage costs. :wink2:

Sounds like you're checking all the frugal boxes. As Jean Scott says, "Don't marry a casino, have a series of affairs with them." Currently in a steamy romance with the Plaza.

Kev, I've read her quote before and love it! Best wishes with your current affair! (how odd, I never would have thought I'd wish someone that! :confused2:

That's not cheap, just smart! Bravo

I take a back pack carry on all the time, not to save money (we get one free checked bag with our credit card anyhow) but because I never have the stress of wondering if it will show up at the carousel when we land (been there, done that - it's NOT fun). Because my pack is small enough to fit under the seat in front of me, I never have to jockey for position to get on the plane first for space in the overhead bin. If my luggage gets a spot overhead it's a bonus, if it goes under the seat, no big deal. It's a Vegas holiday so I try to make it as stress free as possible.

The bus is our first choice too! Two bucks takes us downtown and we get to enjoy the sights (rather than stressing over the route the cabby's taking). It doesn't always work out with the bus schedule but when it does, it's golden.

Love the shuttle to Sam's Town. It's a hidden secret for downtown!

My wife used to live in vegas as a kid and she said she has a memory of walking all the way from Henderson to North las vegas (she said took her 7 hours as a teenager)

I (and my friends) consider myself cheap (frugal or whatever else you want to call it). I usually will stay at the cheapest hotel casinos (like El Cortez). Since I don't bet big enough I hardly get any free nights.

When I have early flights out (before 9 am) much of the time I will just ask for an early morning car rental return and sleep/nap at the terminal or the rental facility. I used to just stretch out at the rental facility chairs but lately they put armrests on the chairs to prevent people from sleeping on them (they said that they had a problem with homeless sleeping there). After I checked out I will sometimes take a nap in my car so I don't have to pay for a room for another night.

I will sometimes eat using the $1 menu at McD's, esp for breakfast. I usually buy bottled water and will carry around a small bottle so I don't need to ask for drink service at the tables. But then part of the reason is that I don't like to drink when I'm playing (don't want to lose control) so I just drink water.

I like the redeyes because I get to vegas early and leave early in the morning so I don't have to pay for a room for an extra night.

I'm not very frugal at all... I've taken a cab from the Palazzo to the Venetian and told the driver to take the tunnel!

I'm a piker. Gold Coast to Palms because I was with two old ladies who would walk six miles back and forth INSIDE a casino but not ten feet outside.

You're being frugal. Frugal is good. Cheap is when you inconvenience yourself, deny yourself, impose on somebody, or stiff somebody just to save a couple bucks.

I could see this. To me being frugal in Vegas could still be spending decent change on bankroll but limiting expenses in other categories. For my upcoming trip with mom I will have a low five figure bankroll but I will also have a bus card as I don't want to pay for a cab if I I can walk or get the SDX.

its ok you can pick on me :)
well in the past i was less frugal and played alot of slots, the last 2 years i became more frugal......i managed last year diamond status with tableplay and vp(no slots) and i broke even (didnt loose).....becomming more frugal is that i spend less money on a lot of stuff like food and drinks and use the freebees(in my view thats also being frugal), using more coupons, using myvegas and using the perks of being a diamond (instead of going out to dinner 4 times a week i did it now 2 times and used the diamondlounge 5 times)so yeah in my opinion you can be diamond and be somewhat frugal as well.......not to the xtreme like some people do though.....being frugal is in our nature(the dutch)

Frugal is awesome. figure out the best bang for your buck in regards to food and transportation, and you can save your $$ for the fun stuff, like gambling.

I love MSS and its buffet, and the triple 7 during happy hour. just gotta time your dinner correctly. :popcorn

I have also gone to the "food court" at plaza for pretty cheap eats.

I like the MSS breakfast buffet. pretty plain, but exactly what i like to eat.

there are many things I need to try downtown in regards to deals on food.

I take the shuttle from the airport and the duece by Fremont to the strip. (still havent figured out the return trip back to fremont street, maybe someday) never sure where the bus picks up on the strip.

Cant wait for my next trip to try more.
