So, will I get more love playing the video BJ version than sitting at a table playing the same game?

 

I think you will get more love - for two reasons...

1. A machine will keep track of your bets a lot more accurately than pit critters will. That is, if you actually make 100 $50 bets, you'll be clocked at having $5,000 in total play for that session - whereas a pit critter might mark your average bet when you have a $20 or $25 bet out. So you run no risk of being underestimated, because the computer will perfectly track what you've played.

2. Your EV is substantially lower on (most) machine games. I'm talking no DAS, no RSA, H17, 6:5 (or sometimes even money) blackjacks, etc. For this reason, you will mathematically stand to lose a lot more - and accordingly, will earn theo at a higher rate which stands to get you more, and better comps.

 

That is IF the machines take player's cards. Some don't from what I read.

WHAT! That's insane! What casino in their right mind wouldn't accept player's cards on a machine? If they don't want to pay points, put up a sign and don't pay points. But it's such an easy way to rate players' action, I can't see why they wouldn't do that.

 

Most do. But at a MUCH slower rate. Bubble craps for example earns 1 point per every $250 wagered at CET properties.

 

The bubble craps at Cosmo does not accept players cards at all. Video blackjack with the hottie dealer does accept though.

 

I know bubble craps at cosmo does not. There is a sign there.

 

The MGM chain machines do not earn points or ECs. I could not get a strait answer as to if they earn comps towards future offers or back end comps.

 

Is there a reason why you would play a machine than the tables? If your extra comps exceed the extra amount you lose due to house advantage, then it would be better to play the machines. But I would think that the house advantage on the BJ machines far exceeds the added comps. Or is it just that you like it better than the tables. The enjoyment of what you do is worth much more, especially while you're on vacation.

 

I can think of a few reasons that one might prefer playing machine over table... for one, you will generally have access to much lower limits in the order of $1 or $2 per hand. Additionally, the pace is much faster and you need not deal with any of the antics/idiosyncracies of other players (e.g. judging your play decisions, muttering about losing, etc.). Also, and perhaps most notably - you don't have to put up with dealers/pit critters who can get annoying sometimes and might be pressuring you into tipping. So if it's a matter of getting to play fast pace, low stakes, low involvement, I think there are a number of advantages for the recreational player.

 

A/8: I enjoy the electronic version more because it does have lower betting - $3, and I am frankly more comfortable at this stage of my gambling career not sitting at a table with a live dealer and peeps that may or may not give me slack for being a novice. Often I am the only one playing, which makes it especially relaxing. I have read book on how to fool the pit boss into giving you higher ratings for your play, but I'm really not into that kind of trickery. I know that my Player's Card is in the computer and I'm getting what is due me for my play. At $3 per hand, with $300 to play with, I can go a very long time, although I'll usually stop before I lose that much- OR win that much! And, I second what our 100% real juice friend said above.

 

Rules at the electric bj games at low limits are often the best at this limits. Assuming it is 3:2. I mean strip property wise.

I had some luck and fun on multi hand video blackjack.

 

Plus those machines don't have the overhead that the regular tables do (have to pay salaries for dealer and pit boss, plus all other incendentals like medical, leave, etc.).

I don't know, it looks like the bj machines play slower than the tables but then I don't take in account the dealers shuffling so maybe it evens out.

 

Yes they make em 6/5... smh.
