So the wife and I are deciding to "shake things up" this upcoming trip and stay at non-casino hotels.

The first four nights we are staying at the Vdara. We reserved a city corner suite. Are there ones that I should avoid (regarding club noise from other outdoor casino night clubs?) Just wondering if I should ask for a particular view and/or a higher floor, or if the Vdara is set far enough away from the other casinos where noise is not an issue.

The next three nights we are staying at Trump International. From online reviews/youtube videos, the rooms themselves and the hotel overall looks great, but the downside seems to be its location (a few blocks off the strip).

We are renting a car for the trip, so getting around won't be too much of an issue.

Just wondering if anyone has stayed recently and what they thought of the place.

    Thanks!

For Vdara, I'd definitely ask for a high floor Bellagio fountain view. Club noise was never an issue for me so you should be ok. Also, unless things changed since the last time I stayed at Vdara, they only have valet parking (no dedicated self-parking garage). Sorry, but I can't help with Trump. Enjoy your trip!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the City Corners only have views of City Center / S Strip (Mandalay, Delano, Luxor). There is zero chance you will have any noise issues at that hotel from neighboring venues.

I love the Trump. The location is a bit out of the way, but I always say 'it's Vegas, you're going to walk'.

They do have a shuttle that takes you over to Caesars from the property. I think that occurs every hour.

I've only stayed in the 2 BR Penthouse/Strip View there (three times), but the only negative thing I have heard about the place is if you get placed over on the side facing North, you can hear the daily trains that roll through town early in the morning.

You've picked two winners for your trip. Enjoy.

Vdara only offers valet parking, but the retrieval was pretty fast. I really liked the location, we were on a mid floor one bedroom that was separated from the living area by a room divider. We loved the property and how quiet it was. The pool is very small though. Would absolutely return.

I've stayed at Trump several times. Our group has had meetings there, because many of the folks in our group are anti-gaming, anti-smoking, anti-fun (just kidding on the "fun"... well sort of). It's an outstanding facility and the location really isn't bad at all, as you can cut through the mall to get out to the Strip or just walk outside. It's really not that far. Stay of the side (east side) away from the train is you can.

I have stayed at Vdara many times in a Executive Corner Suite, and I stay on the highest floor available, usually in the 50's. From personal experience, it is not true that you have zero chance of noise from Marquee. I stay there all the time and the noise from Marquee at Cosmopolitan IS a major factor, mainly during the warmer months. From Thursday to Sunday (and on holidays) you get loud bass pumping from Marquee during both the Day and Night club sessions. Yes it is disturbing, but I always bring ear plugs when I travel anyway, just in case. During the summer months I ask for a mountain view because it is gorgeous and the corner still offers you a partial view of the Strip as well as the rear mountains. With a mountain view you don't hear a thing from the clubs. During the colder months Marquee is tented so you do not have to worry about the noise and can get a Strip view with no worry. The City Corner Suite faces Marquee, so you very well might have a problem with the noise pounding from the club at all hours. Bring ear plugs like I do, as insurance.

As for parking, I rent a car and park at the Aria garage and just cut through Aria and exit by the Buddha statue. It's a very short walk to Vdara from that exit.

No. Vdara has its own pool and that is the one you can use. You have to be a registered guest of Aria to use the Aria pools.

I recently stayed at the Trump, in a corner one bedroom suite, and it was absolutely wonderful. I've been to Las Vegas probably over a 100 times, and this was the best view I have ever had. Also, probably the best room, better than Palazzo or Wynn, my former favorite rooms. I was wary too, but very very pleased.

If I recall correctly, there are shuttles that go from Trump tower to the strip every 15 minutes or so but I haven't stayed there since 2010. I loved the place for non casino purposes. Plus downstairs to the east is the Sex museum and a DejaVu. You don't even need a taxi :)

I can't comment on Vdara, as I haven't stayed there, but the SO and I have stayed at the Trump property at least three times now - maybe four. The non-gaming and non-smoking aspect is really wonderful, even if you're a fan of both, since it means that a) this gives you a refreshing start and end to your day/night of Vegas debauchery and b) the smaller, boutique feel of the property means that you tend to receive excellent and quick service in every way. One thing that we absolutely love (and really hate going without when we do venture to another property) is that the kitchenette is fantastic, even in their base suites. That half-size SubZero fridge in the base suites, and the counter-depth full-size in the large ones, is an absolute lifesaver when you want to have snacks/leftovers and your own booze on hand.

I have to echo OKC Gal's comment on the corner suite - we had one on the trip before last on the 48th floor and I have never experienced a better view in Las Vegas (including from our terrace on the 68th floor of the Cosmo, overlooking the Bellagio fountains). In my experience, the enormous picture window above the huge jetted tub in the huge bathroom really sealed the deal. Drinking champagne in a bubble bath while watching the night fall over the Strip is probably one of the most luxurious and enjoyable experiences I've ever had. It'll make you feel like a high-roller...until you go lose it all on the floor at another casino!

I stayed at the Trump last time I was there. Had two rooms because of a pipe that burst that flooded the floor I was on the first time. Went from a regular room to a two room suite. The first room overlooked the pool, the second overlooked the entire (or most of) the strip. That view was amazing. It's only about 2 blocks off the strip and is RIGHT across from the Fashion Show Mall. It's really not that 'out of the way' as walking from the Trump to a strip hotel wouldn't be MUCH more than walking to a neighboring property on the strip as they are so far apart anyways. But, with a car, you won't have to worry about it.

The Trump was a very nice hotel.
