I've seen some high rollers lose big in my time. Watched a guy lose over $100k every roll in craps at the Bellagio. Pretty sure he lost over $1 million in about 1/2 an hour. Watched a guy in Macau at The Galaxy walk up to a Sic Bo table with his buddies and throw $300,000 on the table only to lose in like 5 seconds. The guy at the Bellagio was getting angry and frustrated. The stickman was like you're great at hitting every number except the one you need. The guy in Macau was obviously on a hot streak and was more stunned that he lost. Good times :faint:

This is nowhere near the same magnitude; but I was at a casino in the northern UK which was very much the kind of place where either degenerates would hang out, or groups of Asian players would spend literally all day at the baccarat table. Stakes were not especially high. The table minimum at baccarat was £5, but with varying maximums. You'd routinely see £100 bets, and some pressed bets in the £500 neighbourhood. I always liked to stand by the table and watch, as I was quite fascinated by the game of baccarat at the time.

One day, a younger Asian guy comes in wearing an expensive looking leather jacket, and takes out a £5000 placket from his pocket, placing it on the table and changing it for chips. He stands by a bit until the last hand of the shoe. He then placed a £4200 wager on the player bet. The whole room falls silent, and you could literally feel all of the attention on this one play. To give you an idea of the "value" of that kind of money there, you could easily rent a respectable apartment for about half a year for that much money. So while this guy might have been thinking a sensible wager, most others saw it as "that's six months of rent".

Banker hand opens with a 5-2 for seven. This guy peels his cards off the table in the usual baccarat fashion. Upon seeing what they were, he threw them down on the table to reveal a T-7 for a tie at 7, screaming something in his language, snatching up his chips and storming off.

Definitely not big money by Vegas/Macau standards, but that's probably the biggest action that most people in that casino have ever seen.

Drunk Guy stacked about $125.00 worth of Red Chips on the pass Line in the Middle of one of my rolls (Yes the point was set) he was at the opposite end of the table and I had a great target. Another time a drunk guy put $25 on a yo hit for $375.00 he let that ride and lost it all.Of course you always have those Yahoos that split 10's at the Black Jack Table....

Two from craps tables that stick out to me:

Standing around Harrah's craps pit a few years back and a group of young kids walks up to the table. Just one of them buys in for $3000. Puts it all (30 blacks) on the field. Shooter sevens out. Kid buys in for $5000. Puts all 50 chips on the field. He's the only one at the table, so the boxman tells him he has to have a line bet to shoot. He grabs one black off the top, and puts it on the PL. Throws a 6 to lose the field, then a 7 to lose the last $100 on the PL. Then they all leave. Not so much crazy in the amounts, but it was a bit bizarre and funny seeing these massive stacks on the field.

Second one was in Aruba. Guy at the table was playing just 10k PL bets with no odds. Not sure why he didn't maximize his odds, but whatever...

I've seen bigger wins and losses on tables at other times, but these were definitely two of the strangest I've witnessed.

Playing blackjack with Kuwaitis in Sharm el Sheikh. Ungodly amounts wagered with no rhyme nor reason as to draws. Staying on 12 versus dealer face, staying on soft 16 and hitting 15 versus 5 etc. Bad, bad, bad plays. 1 million+ gone in 20 minutes, and laughing about it. "Cart....no cart"

It's something to experience, that's for sure.

May have told this somewhere on here before...complete opposite of a hi-roller story.

Maybe 20-25 years ago I was playing nickel VP at Gold Coast and the machines had the double-up feature. A probably homeless guy sits down two machines from me and pulls out 2-3 nickels, bets one hand and loses. Pulls out 2-3 more nickels and plays a hand and gets maybe a full house for say 24 credits. He then picks the double option and wins 48 credits, then does it again and wins, and he keeps doubling and winning hand after hand,

I can hear his machine racking up the credits each time so I start watching him to see if he is going to cash out or lose it all and it seems to me he isn't really sure what he is doing. He has racked up about $280 in credits if I recall correctly so he had doubled and won maybe 8 times. He is looking at the machine, totally confused, when I ask him "hey, do you know what you are doing?" and he looks at me and says "no man, I've just been trying to figure out how to cash out". The guy didn't even know he had been doubling, he was just pushing some of the buttons trying to collect the whole time. I told him "push that button on the far left and they will come pay you $280", he did, they did, and then he went back to betting 2-3 nickels per hand until he had no more nickels, then left

My brother came down for Christmas break. I had built up my bankroll to $5k. I decided I wanted to bet it all for some reason. We drove 30 minutes down to the Wynn. Found a baccarat table in high limit room. Dealer counted all my hundred dollar bills. Then I proceeded to put all $5k on banker.

I slowly peeled back the cards. Natural 8! (Second best hand in the game, kind of like 20 if you were playing blackjack).

Dealer turned over natural 9. Boom. $5k gone in under a minute.

I had an idiot at my BJ table at the Golden Gate last month. He doubled down on his 12 against the dealers 7. The dealer asked him if he was sure and then turned over a Jack to bust him. A couple of hands later he splits his tens against the dealer's 9. He ended up with a 17 and an 18; the dealer flipped over a king for a 19 and he lost both hands. He then very loudly called the young female dealer a BITCH. She turned around and called the pit boss over and repeated what the guy called her. I backed up her claim and within 10 seconds a couple of security guards were escorting him out. I've seen some boneheaded plays and strange behavior at the tables in Vegas, but this was towards the top of the list.

I think I've told this story before, but maybe not the other (both stories from crap tables; seems you see the craziest shit there)
1.) In Reno, a few years back. Wife and I were at JANugget, playing craps ($5 table) Guy walks up, asks for $5000 marker. Starts playing pretty good ($100 pass with 3/4/5, come bets same, decent bets across, hard ways, just everything really). Within like 15 minutes, loses it. (It was a pretty cold table). He walks over to the ATM, draws out $500, comes back (I remember saying "NO WAY is $500 going to TOUCH getting back $5000)...by that time, my wife was up to shoot. He decided to buy the 4 for $500...BOOM, she hits the 4, he buys the 10 for $500, BOOM she hits the 10...it just went like this for probably 20 minutes my wife shot...AGAIN he bet the same way he was before, but THIS time, my wife was HOT...the roll ended with my wife hitting Aces then Midnight (He had $100 on Aces, then $100 on midnight; so he won $6000 right there; also put $5 on each for my wife, so WE won $300 right there). At the end of my wife's hand, he cashes out $22k.

2.) In Vegas, 2 years ago, at Sam's Town...Wife and I went down to play craps...guy was betting pretty good (blacks mostly)...Table got hot, he started throwing $100 chips to my wife, me, and this other lady that was at the table, for each point that we made (we were all betting $5 limits). At one point, he had ALL the black chips on the table (Sams Town didn't have any $500 chips on the table)...little while later, he had NO chips left...just insane to see a guy go through money like that and he WASN'T upset about it! (probably only was realistically like $16k, but still)

I've seen large single bets at Baccarat (tens of thousands), but the two that stand out to me are at the craps table and both involve 30K incidently.

Many years ago, I was playing at Bally's, and this guy in an OU polo walks up and stops the game mid-roll. I'm from UT, so I'm not surprised haha. He looks like he's on the coaching staff or something, but I didn't recognize him. He takes a marker out for 30K, and plays it across all the numbers. Dice go to the shooter, and you know how this goes. Seven out. That had to hurt.

A couple trips ago, I'm at Cosmo. It's my roll, and I'm to the right of the stick. I'm rolling pretty decent. I've hit about 3 points, and making a little cash for myself. All of the sudden, there's a new player to the left of the stick that is now playing, and he's playing what looks like a couple thousand on the line and backing it up with odds. I look around the stickman, and it's some tall guy in a suit. No idea who he was. I was able to hit a couple more points before crapping out. His turn to roll, and he ends up hitting a few points himself. He colors out about 30K in what amounted to about...15-20 minutes. I told my wife about this, and she said, and how much did you cash out?? "Not 30 grand."
