Out of all MLife members - how many are noir or platinum

I know that your host has to code you to use the VIP checkin. Whether they do that for tiers lower than Noir, I have no idea. But just being Noir does not guarantee you access to the room

 

That's what I've been told as well. I've been coded to VIP check in by my host every stay booked through him, and I'm platinum. I was even coded as Gold level as well (I only had one trip that year so I was at like 100k TCs. Platinum is certainly no guarantee, especially if you're from CA and get to platinum by making 8-10 trips a year, but if you play big enough to warrant a host, majority of the time you're going to use the VIP check in.

 

One trip a couple years ago my host forgot to code me. So l learned the hard way, lol. Took a few calls, but they straightened it out

 

I checked in around 5:30pm last night at Bellagio and I was the only one in Platinum line.

 

Same at MGM when I checked in last Thursday evening. Just me in the gold/platinum line

 

It's odd. For the strip properties, the top tier levels are pretty rare. But go down to the local casinos like station casinos and it seems like everybody has the top tier. I wonder how all the retirees around me are like president level when I'm employed and I'm not even close.

 

Yes, I observed the same thing.
In local casinos it's easier to see some top tier players, who are not really high rollers at all.
I guess the explanation is if you make lots of trips (or even daily trips for locals), you will eventually reach the top tier.

 

That's because local casinos have people that are going to their casinos sometimes 2-3 times a week. That's 150+ days a year in some cases. Most Vegas visitors are spending about 5-10 days per year in Vegas.

As for retired folks, that's pretty easy too. While they no longer have a job, many of them have saved up enough to where their SS money is their "spending" money. It'd be very interesting to see how much SS funds are funneled into casinos across the country. Plus keep in mind that when you hit retirement, your expenses drop dramatically. In your working years, you're paying for cars, houses, kids, clothes for work, gas and maintenance on your car to commute and then saving for retirement on top of all of that. When you retire, you have basically eliminated all of your expenses outside of food, utilities and property taxes. Plus you start to spend some of those savings. Really if you planned and saved well during your working years, you will have more discretionary money available for spending than at any other point in your life.

 

Yes. I once used (coded to) the VIP checkin when I was not even Platinum, I was gold.

 

I know some retirees literally camp in the local casinos all day all night, it's their primary home, albeit not listed on their driver licenses.

 

Does your host need to code you for VIP check in? I see it listed on some mlife offers but usually work through the host. Is there a comp cost for VIP checkin? I wouldn't think so but you never know.

 

Last stay was 1st week of New Year 3 nights comped at Aria, 2 comped at Cosmo, 2 comped at Wynn so no "spend" as such on resorts. F&B at Aria comped on top of room
50k TC's so far with an average of $8.5k coin in per day at Aria so I was a bit light this year on my play to maintain Plat, had $10k coin in at the B roughly $37k coin in total over Milfe on first stay
Pervious year, according to Milfe's new tax info data was aprox $110k coin in $97k year before so I have a way to go this year if I can make my second by annual visit in the summer :evillaugh other hotels don't have this type of data but I did maintain Sterling at Cosmo. Wynn don't change your card colour but I think I had approx. 6k points
Have moved from speciality and non speciality slots to 75% VP now so that may explain the lower TC's this time round, did find them slower to accumulate this year but that may be down to the VP or they have made them harder to earn?

 

My point was that it takes pretty significant play to reach Platinum. Much more than what a "typical" Vegas visitor puts in on a trip. Obviously more trips/days in Vegas, the less you need to gamble on a daily basis to hit 200k TCs.

 

In the past I earned Platinum. Have not been to Vegas is perhaps 3 years now but am still Platinum, for what it's worth, thanks to being Elite Plus w/Celebrity Cruises.
